Best Camera Setup for Z Cars
I sport a Canon T2i as I appreciate the ability to shoot HD video as well. My standard setup is a 18-135mm kit lens and the f1.8 50mm lens. I've got nothing against Nikons, but I'm a Canon guy.

Is it really an upgrade?
Their website lists a set for the 510, but not 240 (Porterfield Brakes). I'd be interested in a set...

Early Series Shift Boots
I bought one 3 years ago, and it's an excellent repro... Ashamed to say I haven't installed it yet, it's in the closet next to the RT diff mount and some other upgrades that I'll eventually get to.

See post #12. Cheers.

Please allow me to explain last weeks thread.
I've been pretty infrequent myself over the past two years, and missed the hubub. Glad to hear you'll be sticking around though, my Z owes you a lot!

Yikes!!! $69k!!!!
Gotcha, missed the emoji.

Yikes!!! $69k!!!!
No it isn't. "Frame-off" implies body-on-frame construction. Z's are unibody, so the correct term would be "Ground-up" restoration. Also notice that the "restoration" was 10 years ago and included many changes. this is not a restored car, it's a restomod. Either way, I want some of what he's smoking!

New Paint pending, should I get rid of the rubber door guards? 1973 240z
I throw my hat in with the 'toss them' crowd. I personall think they ruin the lines of the Z. And if you're going for originality I'll reiterate that they are not factory original. That being said, it's your car and do what you think looks best.

check this out
I don't believe so, the seller states he's owned it for 4 years. Looks pretty nice though, always enjoy seeing more in 907.

Competition Hood Vent for sale on Nashville CL
You're correct. I was referring to the fact that this part isn't a rare, hard to find part anymore. MSA "Datsun Competition" Hood Vent - $250 Can't find the CDM part, maybe he's not making them...

Dream Garage Poster
I'll tell you what it would look like; it's called the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ. Look it up if you're unfamiliar, but it's the truest 240 successor in a long time.

Competition Hood Vent for sale on Nashville CL
MSA and CDM now sell replicas of these vents based off the original molds.

28k mile '70 for sale in Cali
It was apparently sold before showing up on BaT. The buyer claims it's in amazing condition and that there are service records to prove the mileage. Glad to hear it.

so i made the jump...
Every Z owner should have How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car by Wick Humble. Lots of good info on this forum of course. And Carl Beck's The Internet Z Car Club is indispensable as well. Oh, and check ebay for Factory Service Manuals. I believe by 1973 there was just one (earlier Zs had 2 FSMs). Welcome!

UK, NZ, AUS, Other "DATSUN" or "DOTSUN"
For the last few years I've taken to saying DAT-SON like the Brits would. Most here say DOT-SON. BTW, I still say MAWZDA (MARZDA would sound much different), but I watch so much Top Gear I often hear it in my head MAH-ZDA. Thanks a lot Jezza!

28k mile '70 for sale in Cali
A BaT reader apparently talked to the seller. Not a California car, miles undocumented, at least partial repaint...

It's been months since I've been on this board. But welcome Wick! I too have your (excellent) book and wish you luck in finding 3547 again!

Gentlemen, turn on your engines!
Well... Technically an engine is a specific type of motor, one which converts thermal energy into physical energy, force or motion. Ergo all engines are motors, but not all motors are engines.

the paint mask for my 240Z, what do ya think
Do you mean for the sun to be oblong?

[2011] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
Took my lady for our first somewhat-long trip of the summer in the Z today. Racked up 100mi. Picked up an alternate cam cover to throw on while I strip off the poor PO krinkle paint job on the stock cover.

Another $35K Z
Has to be a mistype. $3500 intended...

Clean BRG '70 on Ebay
Looks remarkably similar to mine, even down to the turbo mirrors. Personally I'm not a fan of the pinstripes or slotted mags but to each his own. I'm interested to see what it goes for. Just noticed it's missing the dark rear plates, those will be a necessary addition for the next owner. It looks weird without them.

Playing with a wideband
To those reading this who may not be familiar with Air-Fuel Ratios, AFR < 14.7 is RICH AFR = 14.7 is stoichiometric (meaning that theoretically all of the air and fuel should burn completely) AFR > 14.7 is LEAN These numbers apply to gasoline engines.
