Making Mp3 **** for car stereo
It makes you wonder why so many Ipods are sold, Will. People prefer the convenience and will accept the lesser sound quality to the better. All for the status of owning a toy like the Ipod. And so, I will continue to carry my harp. It has capacity to play an infinite number of songs, has perfectly accurate sound quality, and doesn't need to be loadeded with anything but air... and a little spit maybe.

Making Mp3 **** for car stereo
I've used Nero before, and it does a good job of editing, converting & burning MP3s to an audio CD, but I didn't see anything there about an MP3 data disk. Also, per the instructions, AFAIK, it only wants you to use a numerical prefix for the folders on your disk, so I have to conclude that you are supposed to put each playlist & songfiles in different folders on the disk. BTW- when I refer to MP3s, I mean the MP3 FILES, not converting them to CD-DA format that regular CD players use. I'm going to try this MP3 disk thing to see what it's like compared to a digital MP3 player. I contacted JVC tech. through email to see what they have to say. thx

Making Mp3 **** for car stereo
Has anybody succesfully made an MP3/WMA CD for their car CD player? My receiver's instruction book tells you some things likethe 'folders' need to start with a prefix of suqeuential numbers like 01, 02, etc., But it doesn't mention about playlists or songs go. From what I read, you just create the folders on a design, then put the playlist and all the related songs in the same folder. No help from Google. I still prefer using my MP3 player, but an MP3 disk would be good to have because you might be able to give it to a DJ or friend to play on a stand-alone or home player. Most people don't have a mini-jack or card reader on their DJ equipment (yet?) thx.

Owners manual Scans
I thought the owner's manual was small enough to fit into the glove box. Was there another bigger size?

Does 280Z have a lower Front Grille?
You could probably make up one from some bar or rod stock. Or maybe you could bodge one from another car to fit.

Whats your most outragous kill story?
Better yet, just turn the corner with the engine revving, and let the idiot give his autograph to some policeman. "you were never there."

Does 280Z have a lower Front Grille?
How come I've never seen a 280Z with a lower grille- or a 240Z or a 260Z either. Are they rare, or get tossed in the recycle box? thx

Dash instrumentation
In houseld electronics: 1. Is it connected? 2. insert new batteries. 3. Read the owner's manual! For Zs: 1: is it connected? 2: check the fuses! 3. Look in the FSM or microfiche. 4. Ask on CZCC.

Whats your most outragous kill story?
I'm waiting for some ricer to try to get me to race. Since I don't "race," I'd just let the person (could be a girl, you know!) rev or whatever until the engine chokes. Then they can race to the next (red) light as fast as they want- could be a cruiser waiting down the street. I'll be busy cruising & looking cool. Racing is for the track, or the parking lot (as in autocross.)

Dash instrumentation
do the needles on the center gauges wiggle when you turn the power on? Check your fuses. What does work

finally some decent pics of the Z
Could you coat the bumpers with a rubber-type material?

finally some decent pics of the Z
That first one was nice. I mean different-nice. The angle sets it off from most of the usual front quarter photo taken at eye-level. Try some more! Go for something that will shock people or make them ill maybe! Get up close with a wide-angle shot. Lay down on the ground or sit on a 12-foot step ladder (I used to do airplanes for money in high school.) See if you can capture the feeling of movement when nothing is moving (blurr the image). You can go boring or go for something that hits you a different way. That's what makes people remember the picture or the subject. thx

What attracted you to a datsun Z?
I have one of the last Alpha One GTO body kits....

BMW ROAD RAGE ... check this out
I think it's strange that after the guy (steals) the camera, edits the film to admit he took it but leaves all the embarassaing sruff, and then publishes it to the Internet. Not to mention it's proof he was threatening to shoot somebody for basically no reason. I see lots of people making turns without using the turn signal, and usually people don't go chasing after them for miles- Rednecks or not. Eventually, their stupid bad habitscatch up to them and they will do it in front of a police cruiser or cause an accident, and that will be enough punishment for them.

Hazard switch lamp
So what's the confusion? The hazard switch has a light on it so you can find it in the dark. The defog switch doesn't has a light in the switch, but it does have a light to tell you the defogger is on. that is what everybody is saying and agreeing about. And when you turn off the IGN switch, all the lights stay on if they are already on. The size of the bulb in the hazard switch has no part in this topic. That was not the issue. The issue was that the defog switch has a cavity where a light goes, and a translucent window, but the window is blocked. That explains why there's no bulb in the switch. I might consider adding a bulb in the defog switch later, but things are fine for now. thx Will & Stephen. BTW, my hazard switch is working perfectly too.

Hazard switch lamp
My blue light only goes on when you turn on the rear defogger, not when you turn the dash lights on, which is correct. On the new car, there is a light next to the defogger switch. What is that thing in the picture under your seat belts light? Some kind of switch?

Injector wires
There used to be self-service junk yards. For $20, you take off a hood, pile stuff on it and drag it out. "All you can carry" night.

Hazard switch lamp
What looks like a colored window is really a window, but it's just sitting on the solid switch case. I think that if you popped out that translucent piece, and drilled a hole behind it, then reinstall, you could insert a bulb and have it lit in the dark. I still wonder why there is no light on the defog switch, and the hazard switch has one, which gets used less frequently.

Hazard switch lamp
OOps. My bad. It was the Defog switch that have the lamp inside. It's stil pretty much the same design tho. A small rectangular plate with a hole in it fits in the cavity, and a lamp socket goes in the hole.

Injector wires
IMO, the (local) pick-N-pulls just want to pick your wallet! Stephen- how much would you want for a set of injector connectors? The ones in the article will cost you $120 to do an engine...
-
Injector wires
Well, I just wasted 1 1/2 hrs going to the "pick-a-Part" where you can't pick your own parts! First, they (some girl with a rough voice) ask you what CAR (singular) you are looking for, and then they tell you "we don't got any OLD cars. Nothing older than 5 years. Then they don't have any imports, except for some rebuildable 350Zs that were recently totalled. I would have to either buy the whole car or a whole engine (with a warrantee) to get the injector connectors, or any part. All the other JYs in Ohio are the same. Greedy fools. BTW, the injector connectors on my 97 escort will fit, but they don't have boots- just a length of protectove tubing (like shrink tube.) Back to the Bosch connector at NAPA...

Hazard switch lamp
Is the hazard switch supposed to have a lamp in it that lights up with the other dash lights? If so mine has been somehow removed, and the metal lamp socket holder plate lost. I can probably make a new plate, but I'd need a lamp socket. Can you get those? thx
