  1. I'm building up a collection of videos and DVDs about favourite car movies; The kind that are either based on cars or heavily involve cars. You might call it a "Top 10" thing but I can't think of 10 yet. My list: Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) Gumball Rally (1976) The Hollywood Knights (1980) American Grafitti (1973) Vanishing Point (1971) Gran Prix (1966) Smokey & the Bandit (1977) Bulitt () The Great Race(1965) Corvette Summer(1978) Maximm Overdrive (1986) I've seen Blues Brothers listed on some web sites, but I consider that more musically-oriented than car oriented. I haven't seen all the 2Fast movies yet, and I'm not really that much into rice. what would you add? thx
  2. I have a handheld unit I got off eBay a while ago, and I just got a speaker-mic for it too, but when I plugged the it in, there was no sound. The PTT switch worked tho. I'm not sure if there is a short in the speakermic, or the mic jack. I'm just trying to make up a 12V power cord out of a couple phone car cords (they're coiled.) I'll see what kind of range I get in the car, then maybe decide to get some kind of antenna. I know I can get an adapter cord from the BNC connector to the PLU-259, but I can't tell how light & flexible it is. Any experience with the stick-on window antennas? It would look cool, but probably tacky at a car show. Are CB headsets legal on the road? Probably the kind with only one speaker is. thx
  3. Welcome, ay? I would have left the paint job for last, after you take a good look through the car and maybe go through the body panels and the mechanicals a little. Things like the bolts for the front fenders will corrode till they're stuck, so they could be run out, a little antiseize, and run them back in. You can clear out any dirt, and install Enrique's drain hoses for the cowl drains. And at the same time, take a good look at the springs, shocks, bushing, etc., so you can make a plan to replace those. Then you'll be able to make up a plan for future stuff. But it's your car, and you gotta do it the best way for you. thx

Why do you think the back window was painted? Didyou notice the treament of the rims? thx
  5. Did you see the pink shag carpet in the back?? He did all that stuff to it, but didn't even cover the floor, or clean up the engine (rusted brake fluid covers.) Maybe he was using it for off-road racing? I love that battery hold-hown shim ( the carboard from a fan belt.) No roll cage either. Maybe he was hoping they would use it in the next 2Fast movie... There's no hit counter. No bids either. Coincidence? thx
  6. You could dip it in Plasti-dip or liquid electrical tape, but I'm sure there's a proper mounting bracket for it "available at any local auto parts store." Which means it doesn't exist.:classic:
  7. When I overhauled my injector rail (In February,) I still had loads of pressure on it after I put the car away in November. That's probably what's up with mine; I soaked it in evapOrust to clean up the outside, and some of it probably got inside. So at WOT, I don't get full fuel pressure.
  8. Hi

there's another member here that's from Cincu. I think his username is CincyZ? Also check out www.frappr.com/zowners to add yourself & see whos in your area. thx
  9. I was thinking about getting a CB radio for road trips, but which one? I don't think there room for a base unit, so I will probably need a handheld unit. So on the handhelds, what good ones are out there? Anything small, maybe with a microphone jack? thx
  10. So? If it's spewing gas into the intake, the engine would still be running. Too many people on eBay and some other places are calling it a cold-start injector.
  11. Did you pull off the connector on the cold-start injector too? if it was spraying fuel, the engine would run(barely.) there's 7 injectors on a fuel-injected L28 engine.
  12. The ones I have are NAPA- brand Halogen lamps, #H6024.

Your use of English seems poli kala to me. Most of the "American language" was borrowed from German or Greek languages any way. Benvenuto, baby.
  14. I recently got some headlamps from NAPA that were supposed to be brighter than the oem ones, and at lesser amps. Getting them in is the hard part.
  15. Thanks for mentioning that stuff. I think that's what I have on the rocker panels. I was thinking about spraying some on the bottoms of the back quarters behind the wheels where the road schmutz collects.
  16. Do the auto stores carry that? It looks like you need to spray some color on top to match the carpet or vinyl. It would be best to put on something that's got black in it already, so if it gets scuffed, the steel underneath won't show through. thx
  17. Have you checked any of the HotRod websites? I'll bet ya there's somebody doing it in their custom rod. Here's a ZX module on eBay: eBay Auction

Would it be possible to substitute truck bedliner stuff for the vinyl in high-traffic area, likethe door sill? I think it might look good if the texture or color wasn't too rough or irregular.I can get a can of spray-on stuff and try it... thx.

I had a digital memo thing (the kind that takes multiple memoes) velcroed to the dash for the first few months after I got my car. I had a few things that needed immediate repair, but otherwise, if I noticed something, I just presssed the record button and spoke (yelled?) a message formyself, and later wrote the messages down in a notebook when I was home. Either that, or carry a small notebook & pencil in the car. You might need to give your number to some beautiful girl! or Z friend. thx

I did a little autocross with my stock 280Z. Another guy was there the same day with his stock 280Z, although it went like the engine was fixed up some. Other than that, he just had some grippier tires. Do lots of reading & research, and go visit some events you might like. Many organisations have a web site, with help/tips, rulebooks, etc., and friendly people you can contact. Ask them questions ( there are no dumb questions.)
  21. You should do your car a favor and get the entire fuel rail off, the injectors out, and have them serviced. I noticed that more than 1 one my hoses werew ready to go, and the in & out lines needed replaceing too. Then you'll have all 6 new hoses & good clamps when you put it back together, and the knowledge that all the injectoorkrs are working &and flowing well. It's a little extra work & time, but you'll be able to clean your intake, the fuel injection rail, injectors, and have everything new and performing when it's done. 30 years from now, you can have somebody else do it for you. :lick:
  22. This Christmas brings me 50-degree weather, so I can go out to the car and do a little work on it occasionally. Last year we had 26 inches of snow by now.
  23. It's like asking if there are any good deli's in NYC...
  24. You need the basic tools of restoration, mate: 1. Tape & label stock/ permanent marker 2. Digital or film Camera 3. Notebook & pencil 4. clear plastic bags & ziploks Right now you need the correct wiring diagram for your car.
  25. What's the difference between the two grades of glass?
