Wadaya think?
I have a set of the Diamonds in 15X8 (most of the Neckar wheels only come in 15.....AERO, Basset, Diamond, etc...although Basset makes 13 and 14 and Diamond has 13-16). Very utilitarian. Not somehting you would put on a show car, but mean looking! Lots of racers use them. Can't beat the price. Yes, they are a tad heavy, but not much. Here is what I have in my garage right now. Check this out: 14X7 AR 'Turbine' with 225/50/14 Kumho V700 @ 30%: 38.8 lbs. 15X7 Eagle Alloy five-spoke with 225/50/15 BFG Touring T'A at 70%: 37.6 lbs. 15X8 Diamond with 225/50/15 Kumho V700 @ 30%: 40.2 lbs. Several of the steel wheel makers mention in their listings, "Cannot be balanced by centerbore. Must be balanced by bolt holes." Don't really know the ins and outs of that edict, but thought I might throw it in. steve

Are there Capris in Mustang clubs? Are there Chevelles in Goat clubs? Are there 'Cudas in Challenger clubs? Are there G35s in 350Z clubs? Or, perhaps more accurately, in terms of lineage... Are there Escorts in Focus clubs? Are there K-cars in PT Cruiser clubs? Are there Loti in DeLorean or Mr. 2 clubs? Are there Brats in WRX clubs? Are there Beetles in Porsche clubs? Are there Fox's in S4 clubs? Are there 240Zs in S14 clubs? Exist in a sidebar or go away. This is not ClassicDatsunCars.com. I love you all, but just stating the facts. This is ClassicZCars. Do we enjoy reading about the 240K and various Skylines? Sure, quite a few of us do--myself included. Do you belong? Probably not. Notice how many 510's and roadsters are here? Now THOSE are the usual 'outsider' populace of a Z site. Funny we don't have any...save Vic and Mike. Even if you create your own forum here, the way this site is formatted, it will not matter. How many times have you read something on a thread only to discover (only of you are paying attention) it is on the Australian club forum? How many time have you read something so imbecilic you assumed you were browsing 'Funnybone' only to look up and discover you were in 'Brakes and Shocks'? It won't matter if they have their own forum. The posts will still show up on the front page and in the latest 100 and that is how most of us surf. Maybe we need headers like the Home-site: (240K) Re: Fat Fenders and Bleeding Nipples (280ZX) Re: My cool Chuck Norris Hood (Sub/Dom) Re: your master cylinder (MBLA) Re: Are these too fat? (240z) Conspiracy theories on handbrake placement ...so the people who are too friggin stupid to know better can drool their way down the posts selecting what they want to read and reply (inserting their favorite vendor, of course) to. Thanks for ruining a perfectly good poll--that I didn't start, for once. steve

Cold Air Induction
Since this site is predominantly populated by carburated Z's (although some recent polls show that is changing...) the subject of 'Cold Air intakes' doesn't come up too often--especially home-made ones. On the 'Brand X' forum (the one with all the punks) it comes up constantly. About once a week, some loser will trot out photos of his PVC/ABS/ADS/CPVC/Dryer Duct/3" truck exhaust pipe cold air intake he somehow tek-screwed, zip-tied, or duct-taped to his car. Of course they are all topped off with the requisite K&N. It is possible to make your own. It is possible to make one and have it look good. The latter just doesn't happen very often. steve

L28 Air Flow Meter Trouble.
Coupla things to check VERY CAREFULLY... The intake hose from the AFM to the TB. There could be a crack or air leak that was modulated by the change in AFMs. Perhaps it didn't leak quite so bad with the new one? Cracks are usually right around the seats anyway. If you got the new one in a bit further....not so much leakage. Vacuum leaks. Check (or better yet REPLACE) every single vacuum hose. Make sure you get the right size and that all ends are tight. Is there an O-ring in the dixxy? Is your dipstick tight? FI motors don't like vacuum leaks. When you adjust the TB by hand to adjust idle speed, does it respond? steve

Where is Innovator Z?
Yes, those are OK, and I may end up settling for one because I REFUSE to pay $750 for the Oldenburg pan. It is the best, no doubt, but that is just too much. That is what my local 'ship wants. Malverne and MSA also promote the cast pan. Can't be that bad, I supppose.... steve

Where is Innovator Z?
Well, that number is disconnected as is another one on the site and no reply to e-mail at that address. I guess I am not getting my comp pan from them. steve

Where is Innovator Z?

Where is Innovator Z?
Maybe I missed something, but I just bought something off their web-site and the only two options are 'pay by phone' and 'pay by mail'. I chose phone, completed my order and immediately got an e-mail directing me to call them--and a number. Knowing full well it is 10:30 or even 11:30 PM there, I called. Number 'disconnected' with no forwarding number. Looked on the site and found another number. Also not in service. Huh? steve

Rear Maxima brackets?
Yeah, I am aware of the AZ and MM models, also Tom Holt has a drawing (a machine-shop ready document) of a bracket that uses a very reasonable Wilwood caliper. It is on his FP-Z site. Does anyone know offhand which Wilwood matches the ZX caliper? Should be easy enough to find in the catalogue, though. The single piston Wilwoods are very reasonable. steve

Carb damping oil? Flow guide valve ?
I have been following some of these carb conversations with great interest, as have just bought my first set. Do Mikuni's have this dampening oil mechanism? Just looking at them it doesn't seem like it. Sorry so ignorant, I just never realized SU's had oil in them for this well-but simply-engineered function. steve
