  1. I'm planning to be there, so it'll be great to see you again. Cross your fingers that nothing unforunate changes my plan.
  2. The Best of Motor Trend: 50th Anniversary Special Edition 1949-1999 Article: Hits, Misses & Never Weres (Cars and fads that changed our lives.....or not) (Page 14) #1) '70 Datsun 240Z - "It's timeless shape, classic powertrain layout, solid performance, and affordable price proved an unbeatable combo for the gang who now markets its hardware under the Nissan name." This is why Mr K, Matsuo and others are so highly admired, because they blew a hole in the market that never saw it coming until it was too late to respond. So the Z has been the symbol of the Japanese sports car industry ever since.
  3. Very interesting.
  4. Why would anyone want to put S30 seats in their car, unless it's an S30? They are nothing special as far as support goes.
  5. emccallum, don't do it. You'll regret it.
  6. First, Hagerty is pissing off one their customers..............me. Has anyone noticed that Hagerty virtually ignores Japanese cars? So seldom are they discussed that they seem non-existent. If anyone can show me where Hagerty give Japanese cars equal time, I want to see it.
  7. I would touch that with a 10 foot pole.
  8. Nice exhaust. Looks like you need a gas tank maybe.
  9. My Z had a louver, I think it was an Interpart but don't remember. I took it off because it scratched the glass. The scratch is still there.
  10. Yeah, come on let's see some pics.
  11. Lights can be a tricky thing, because the DOT is particular about the color, number and brightness of them. There are lots of mods out there, but their technical legality may be questionable. They may question your modified lights if the the lights and housings weren't designed together. Then again it may not matter on an old car.
  12. Someone mentioned the seat pattern is wrong. That's because the seats are wrong. The car wouldn't have had fully reclining seats until 1972.
  13. Welcome to our website. Let us know if you need any help.
  14. I hate to see two of our long-standing members quarreling like this. Let's try to set the example and word our posts a bit differently. Thanks.
  15. There are no explosives used to inflate airbags. It is a chemical burn that produces a gas that inflates the airbags rapidly. They must inflate rapidly enough to meet the requirements set forth by NHTSA. They have developed smarter airbag systems in recent years that include sensing systems that measure the weight and seating position of the occupant, and adjust inflation accordly using multi-stage airbag inflators. I don't know if the NHTSA has changed the requirement for the unbelted occupant scenario, but it does make a difference in the speed necessary to inflate and coverage necessary to protect the occupant. Also guys, let's keep it friendly....okay?
  16. Apparently Dana Britton, the owner, claims on his website that you'll have your carbs back in about 10 days. If you haven't heard from him (you say 8 weeks) sounds like a serious problem. Do you have more details to share? Did you already pay for the carbs? Were you having your original SU's rebuilt? Who exactly did you speak to or email? Please PM me as well if I can help.
  17. I think there is something wrong with the video or link.
  18. All shocks are gas/oleo. Few shocks are made without a gas charge (e.g., nitrogen). When the 240Z was new they didn't use gas charged oleo shocks (the void area was just air), so the ride height is a bit lower than if you use gas charged oleo shocks with the same springs (e.g., stock springs). There are both low pressure and high pressure gas charges depending the shock you buy.
  19. Welcome to the party, Scarlette! I've heard the stories of regret for selling a Z many times. But now you're back. Hope you enjoy your new ride.
  20. Welcome to Classic Z Cars, Courtney. I think you'll find we're a fun group, and serious about our Zs. Enjoy!
  21. Ball and socket compression rods; he would feel every jolt. Don't put poly anywhere in your drive train, only in the suspension. Eibach are progressives right? You can't cut them without messing things up I believe. Too bad stock springs don't exist anymore. We had some made many years ago and sold by Courtesy, but I think they are gone.
  22. I wonder if I can give the owner infraction points.
  23. You have no excuse, hang your head!
  24. I have these very seat covers/foam inserts in my car.
