  1. He loves Datsuns, but doesn't know ****, well maybe he does. Let him find the Bilsteins for you. Just know they've been out of production for Z's for 20 years, ask Carl Beck. Monroes are junk, KYB's are not. My shocks and springs were completely worn out, I mean big time. I put new stock springs in with KYBs, and you can hardly move the car when you push down on the corners. I buy my shocks at shox.com. They have the Suspension Techniques sway bar kits too. I paid $240 for a set of four KYB GR-2's. Tokicos are good, but unnecessary (I think) unless you're racing. Koni's are very good, but stiff. They are intended for racing. My Z is a road car, and so I chose my components for that purpose. I don't like my car to ride like a brick.
  2. I am willing to guess that this is a 432 rear spoiler, and I believe this is the correct badge placement.
  3. Too bad we can't find out what the VIN is.
  4. I don't need no-stinkin' G-nose!
  5. Negative offset like that is for FWD isn't it?
  6. So the point is that there is not way to drill or attach fasteners without causing a problem? That's why I'm buying the 432 spooler, it's as authentic Datsun as you can get. The BRE is a modified version of the 432 front spoiler as far as I know (or vice versa).
  7. Tread width appears to the be the problem associated with rubbing. With the 205's MSA has determined that no problems exist regardless of tread width. When you go wider, you have to check the tread width to see if you have problems. I have the 15x7 Konigs graphite with polished lip with Yokohama Avid H4s 205/60R15 tires. 500AA/A UTQG
  8. When I get mine painted (hopefully soon) I'm going with the 432 rear spoiler. I will be mounting a BRE spoiler from Les Cannaday on the front.
  9. Carl, how plentiful are hatches these days, especially with vertical defogger glass?
  10. Has anyone ever successfully replaced their rear-window defogger, and made it look like original?
  11. Don't do it, you'll regret it.
  12. Just a thought here; is it possible that a small amount of solvent could be put in #5, then pull the coil wire and rotate the engine with the starter? Maybe it could work it's way into the rings over a few days or week. Then change the oil. Just an idea, never tried it, maybe it's stupid. Maybe add any engine flush to the oil at the same time. Brake cleaner is a great solvent, or carb cleaner.
  13. I threw mine collection away after 10 years (77-87)
  14. Road & Track 01 1978 TEST: Mercedes-Benz 300CD, Plymouth Horizon, Dodge Omni, 78 Toyota Celica GT Liftback, Mazda GLC, Scarab Datsun Z-car V8 FEAT: Alan Jones, Panther Six prototype, London to Sydney Rally, BMW 328s, 62-71 Datsun Sports roadsters, Donald Healey 3 This issue of Road & Track can be purchased here for $6.
  15. I remember having a Road & Track magazine with a long article about the Scarab in it. I faintly remember a spec of 0 to 104 and back to 0 in 14 seconds.
  16. Not the site so much as supporting the mailing list and its existence as an entity. I would like to see some improvements to the site, but that's up to Carl. The site was designed at a time when web browsers were competing, and so was made in such a way so all browsers could access it. That is no longer necessary, and a little sprucing up of the site wouldn't hurt. But it was thought by some that due the growth of other Z sites on the Internet , that people weren't coming to the Z Home very much anymore, or participating in the mailing list.
  17. Not too long ago there was a little scare that maybe the IZCC mailing list dying or dead. Well there erupted a lot of chatter about that. :paranoid: I remember when this club began, and I remember talking to Mike about it. Anyone around then will remember it was not an easy decision for Mike and for those of us that support his effort to start this club. It was feared that a split would breakup the Z community and fragment it permanently. Well it didn't happen that way, but lots of other sites have sprung up since then. :classic: I think and hope that Mike would agree that we should never let the IZCC lose it's status as the mother of all online Z clubs. I think we should do what we can to maintain its viability. What ever we should do will be a personal decision by each member. I just wanted to voice my opinion and bring this to the attention of those who may not know the history of the online Z community.
  18. I know I keep attributing this to Carl, but I've seen others say it. They need to get rid of this "ugly toad", and start new. They cut a big corner going with a glorified G35. In my opinion it's quite sick to say the least. I think two Datsuns made the company, the first was the little pickup truck, and the second of course is the 240Z. You don't cut corners on your icon! You never saw Corvette do that.
  19. I would like to see a modern version of the 240Z where each part is modernized, this time with leather interior. Everything has the exact same shape as long as it complies with modern safety standards.
  20. Maybe we should ask Koni and KYB to cut down on the nitrogen.
  21. I'm running Konig Rewinds (gunmetal) 15x7 with Yokohama Avid H4s 205-60HR-15 size tires as recommended by MSA.
  22. I wish I could talk you into something other than money orders, they are such a pain to get.
  23. I thought the Europeans were environmentally conscious, so why didn't they have smog equipment installed?
  24. I have been wonder this for years, what the heck does IIRC mean. I've been afraid to ask but I can't figure it out. Yes the front springs were of different height, but I understand that Datsun never sold them that way at the dealers. They only sold the drivers side spring (correct me if I'm wrong). However you can now get them like factory from Courtesy Nissan since we had them made according to factory specs (LF, RF and two rears). Anyway, the original struts were not cartridges, that is, the guts were inserted directly into the strut tube and sealed with o-rings. The factory manual shows how to overhaul them. The factory manual does not show the use of strut cartridges.
  25. Look at the GR-1 and tell me to my face you don't wish the 350Z didn't look like it.
