  1. Recently i acquired two pieces of Nissan sports option aka Datsun Competition aka the Triple Mikuni carb heat shields from Japan. One was in a good, used condition. the other one seemed to be restored on the first sight. But after i received it and inspected it closer, i quickly realized that they just sprayed it with some silver paint that came off upon touching it. After looking at it again, i also saw that it was not straight and had a few cheap weld repairs. Here is the "good" side, which only needed a bit of flattening with the hammer (probably from wiggling it off the previous installation): And here is the bad side from the inside You can see the corners and the holes have some weld leftovers and do not look nice: And this is the outside (after i already started to work on it). You can see some rough remaints of the welds: And this is how it all looked after an hour of filing and straightening everything with my recently bought bodyshop hammer and file set: Now it's Much better than before. Everything is straight and the surface even, and the curvatures / holes are round again. After i took the picture i sprayed it with some rust primer, but i will have to have the whole thing resprayed once it's going to be installed. I also finally managed to get the car back on the lift again and hope i find some time during the christmas holidays to get some stuff from my to-do list checked off!
  2. I have no idea. I just bought locks because the car will live outside a good bit. It was just as easy to get locks as to get hexagonals. The locks might have a little more clearance too
  3. I posted this issue in my quarter window install thread but wanted to give it is own thread to get more eyeballs on it. Car is a 1976 280z. I just installed my quarter windows and I'm having a bit of interference with the weatherstrip on the top of the door and the vertical weatherstrip on the front of the quarter window. All the weatherstripping is brand new from Precision. How did this work from the factory? Was there interference? Looks like I should probably trim the quarter window weatherstrip back to provide clearance for the door weatherstrip. Any other thoughts?
  4. There you go I learned something new in my old age!!
  5. Positive offset moves the wheel center inboard, use negative offest to move it outboard to the fender arch. https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/what-is-wheel-offset?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpOW8lqevigMVYDfUAR36lTkyEAAYASAAEgI7tfD_BwE&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIpOW8lqevigMVYDfUAR36lTkyEAAYASAAEgI7tfD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!3756!3!354820921610!p!!s!!wheel offset chart&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=5
  6. Cool. The pump just couldn't seal air without oil in the rotors. Couldn't pull a vacuum to grab more oil. Glad you got it pumping now.
  7. Yeah, I did this in my 240Z ten years ago. If your windows are stiff or tight rolling up or down these kits will not work well and will not last. Be sure that your windows are adjusted so that they roll up and down with minimum effort prior to attempting to install such a kit.
