  1. Okay, time to come clean. I found this car for sale on Vancouver Island and couldn't resist buying it. My Canadian girl, number 6521 now has an American cousin, Number 957, a 1/70 car. When I finish restoring 6521 they will be twins. HLS30-00957 was owned by a member here, @M3333hp. sadly he passed away in 2020, mid way through the restoration. Rest in peace Pete. Pete's son completed (except for a few small details) the restoration with great attention to originality in 2022, exactly as his dad would have wanted. Pete would be proud. He recently decided it was time to let the car go to another enthusiast. I was very happy to be that guy, and yes I still do plan to complete the resto of 6521. Not that haven't already, I will be taking my time on the current resto, leaving the final work to enjoy when I retire in a few years. I have really missed having a Zed to drive and for club cruises and shows, etc., number 957 will definitely take care of that. Here are of few more pics of 957. I will be starting a new thread soon to document the number 957, and the short list of items on my new todo list.
  2. Oh my, you have been busy - and in secret all these months! Fantastic job, beautiful car. Congrats on an outstanding effort.
  3. It's been way too long since my last update, I've been very busy. I thought I should at least share some pics.
  4. WOW!! From "some assembly required" to a complete Car IN LESS THAN HALF A YEAR !! 👍 Was this your first resto? It looks very good and the orange is one of my favorite colors! What's next i would almost ask.. GOOD JOB !!
  5. I'm unsure. Its a shame you don't have backs too because that would probably make them pretty valuable.
  6. 3 mm. I have some suitable items to take place of the red washer in my cart, but have to buy way more than I need. And, I would like that black plastic piece too.
  7. Alrighty. After a ton of help and great advice by other forum members (read the discussion here), I've got it running pretty well. The culprits turned out to be: Blockage in the fuel tank and/or the lines Marginal fuel pump Mis-set timing Float bowls set incorrectly (fixed above) Maladjusted carbs (much too lean) I put the car back up on dollies and rolled it back into its spot so I can get my daily driver back in the garage: (a garage-mahal it ain't, but it works) In the weeks to come, I'll be dropping the fuel tank for inspection & cleaning, respraying the airbox and doing some exhaust work (there's a small leak between the manifold & downpipes).
  8. Wrapped this up (finally). I tried a number of ways to connect the center pins of SW4 to the fore/aft motor (A2), without much success. I found that spiking the center pin to the adjacent power pin would bring the circuit alive - but only long enough to move the motor briefly. I repeatedly spiked the connection, to see how long I could get it to hold function. Doing this ultimately killed whatever switches the power to the switch grid, which turned out to be what was needed, as with that I added a jumper from the switched power feed at the top of the card to the switch power grid & now all the switches work. I guess I basically lobotomized the board ðŸĪŠ
  9. Looks like both pieces are in there. I bet the copper wire in there is worth more than both little bits you are after. I looked at Stamps.com but did not care for their terms of service. I'll just stick with the Post Office.
  10. For the red washer, you could use a phenolic washer like this. https://www.amazon.com/a15112300ux0387-2mmx4mmx0-5mm-Motherboard-Insulating-Washers What is the diameter of the hole?
