  1. Ok, the last reply was short due to frustration. the radiator I purchased leaks. It sucks but atleast Im only out $179. I asked dad what was wrong with the old OEM radiator, he said it’s bad because it’s old. I took it to a radiator shop for an inspection. $80 later it’s been cleaned, inspected, painted, and pressure tested as good to go. I’ll be putting it in.
  2. I’ve mentioned this three times now on the forum about doing a leak down test. Not sure why thats out of the question of truly giving you a confidence level of each cylinder. At least do it on cyl #4 and go from there. Does anyone agree? Been at this along time….
  3. I'm old but that doesn't mean I'm ready for the recycle bin...yet 😝
  4. Make sure your dipstick numbers on the side start with an E. That's the right length for the 240. The 280s start with P. Oh yeah! Back to the first. Do you add oil before an oil change? If so it's using oil. Fill it to the FULL line at the top and check it every week to see if it's lower.
  5. Definitely. Its an easy test to do and would help diagnose the issue.
  6. If you get another engine, it'll probably work and you can drive your car. and used engines are cheap. get it with the inlet manifold too in case that's where the problem is. Then you or someone else can leisurely work out whats wrong with this engine.
  7. i think the 8 years show that guesses from the forum isn't going fix it. Can you not just get another engine?
  8. Take all.. i mean ALL the aftermarket junk off the car.. (Ignition) get yourself some original parts and i say: you will have NO LONGER a PROBLEM.. yes..it will not be easy but do-able.. When people start about a ignitor induction coil from "ignitor" with twice the power or so, i instantly get a headache! Same with those stupid aftermarket distributors.. YES YES i know some of you have one that works well but only some do.. I drive my 240z for 20+ years, summer and winter, most winter.. and never had a problem with normal contacts in the ignition. (Last year i renewed the contacts for the first time in 20 years+ and around 20-25000km or something like that..)
  9. This is the most important one. It shouldn't be an also, it should be the first thing. Have you checked for injector activation using the lights? Over here we call them "Noid" lights for some reason.
  10. Got around to getting some new tires on the Z and took it out for a cruise around the block...this time without the constant worry of the dry rot tires leaving me stranded! It handles so much better and drives way smoother, who would've thought No overheating issues, solid oil pressure and voltage. The Koni struts need some additional adjustments to get the ride where I want it. One thing that I need to fix is the speedometer reading. It is reading nearly double what my actual speed is. Tested it with some neighborhood radar readings to get a baseline. I looked up the issue but most people are off by a few mph's due to tire size, diff ratio, etc. But I am way off, double or nearly so. Any thoughts on whats going on here?
  11. Two bends really, the arc across the front is also a large radius bend. You can see it in the pic. Makes them awkward to ship.🤥 I do have some though, @Wally if you're still looking.
  12. Kind of sounds like the AFM is either disconnected electrically or the vane is stuck or the spring is too tight. The ECU is not getting the signal to open the injectors for longer periods of time. Have you tried putting the other AMF on and do you get the exact same results? Can you see the counterweight move when the engine starts? It should move when the engine is cranking and even more when the engine starts. Have you checked the AFM results at the ECU connector? Do you see the 180 ohms, and the 100?
  13. There's a gauge on the adjustable FPR. Watch the gauge after you prop open the throttle blade so that the engine will stay running. Once the engine is running, many things can be learned and understood. Fuel pressure, ignition timing, throttle response. vacuum leaks, etc.
  14. I drove my '72 to the local grocer's and picked up some supplies. I do today what I plan on doing the New Year. Hopefully I want have a heart attack.
  15. Hi Gavin, I will take pictures of the button tomorrow, please standby shortly. I found a nice picture of the FRP bonnet, this car used to be owned by Mr. Otsuka. Note the tire, Bridgestone Super Speed-2 (6.45 S14). Otsuka-san knows the tire, I think it was already so hard to obtain 5 original tires at that time. FYI, Z432 has Super Speed 5 (6.95 H14). From Car Magazine June 1995. Kats
  16. Put in radiator fluid. Radiator leaks. Another setback.
