  1. This was just a test spray out to make sure 100% that I wanted the color on the car. This is the MZR Roadsport spray out method. Concept Color here in Richmond went ahead and did the body work on it to shave the side marker and fit the later year body parts but he will sand and reshoot this fender with the final car soon so no need to buff. He did a mighty fine job on the simple spray out and I am very excited that he is painting this car.

  3. Base clear with 3 coats of clear and no buffing. Also, my license plate came in and the color is close to the 920!
  4. Haha! Bowl drains to help with things like carb adjustments and tuning (things like float level and fuel pump testing) and draining for off-season storage. What I was just doing a couple days ago was replacing the copper washers with nylon because the copper was too hard and it took too much torque to get them to seal. I switched over to nylon for a better seal. Here's a pic of the screws with the previous copper sealing washers: Now with the nylon, dry as a bone at a completely reasonable torque:
  5. Absolutely - been there, done that. Check your local auto parts store for self-sticking closed cell foam weatherstrip. It usually comes in a variety of widths and thicknesses, I think I used a 5/8" thick product. In addition to the splash shield (shown), use the same product on the baffle on the inside of the fender where it seals against the A-pillar. Closed cell is important as it will not hold moisture. Be sure to remove all the old stuff before applying. Also - you can see the same material used for the pads.
  6. More progress, more history uncovered. The car has been at least four colors, originally gold, teal, red, and then white. I’m planning metallic wine.   7. Pontiac Blue from Duplicolor on an L20. From a couple of old post on here, neither are mine. I also painted a 74 ½ Air Cleaner using DE 1610 Pontiac Blue (I used either a white or gray primer first) also used the same color for the vapor canister clamp. (picture posted)
  8. Im using the KIA sportage seal on the hatch and doors. I manage to get in in without cutting on the hatch. They need to be cut for the top back corner on the doors. They work fine and passed the garden hose test. I have never had my Zed in the rain. They were only $37.50 + $7,50 shipping to the netherlands for all three.
  9. Those are the later versions that I've reworked. Yes, those bosses were originally intended for attachment of the small heat shields to the undersides of the carbs, but I repurposed them for the bowl drains. Milled them flat (for a good sealing surface), drilled through, and tapped. I don't think I've ever seen a pair of really early flat tops with my own two beady eyes, but it appears from the documentation that those bosses have been there since the beginning. Here's a snippet from one of the docs where they compare the old and new style float bowl covers. First (early) design on the left, and second (later) design on the right. The first design cover is flat on the outside, while the later design is not flat on the outside because they have the recessed pools for additional fuel. But they all have the heat shield mounting bosses: And about the floats... The float design is very different between first and second designs and I don't think there's any possibility that they are interchangeable. And even if you find you CAN physically mount the wrong design into place, I don't think you want to do that. On the early design, the float mounting ears are on the inside surface of the bowl cover, while on the second design, the float pin goes through the body of the carb itself and is sealed with the brass hex cap.   13. This week I finish off the head assembly and mount it to the block. It is coming together and I am getting excited.
  14. I am planning on adding a set of 2010 370Z seats to my 76. A friend is going racing seats, so if I can get them to fit, I’ll have a set of leather, power, heated seats. From a Z!
  15. He's (C O) restoring a flattop carb ??? (in that pic.) HEY! Nice 260z end muffler.. i've got the 240z middle peace in new condition in storage.. i think it's the : 20050-E4100 also in black! (Nichira made in Japan)

  17. Figured I should probably add a photo of her. Runs and drives all original, engine, transmission, etc... Her paint makes her look rougher than she actually is. Someone before us installed house carpet so that will be the first we pull out of it.
