  1. Wheee, I'm going to steal your method when I make my frame rail/ X member strengthening plates if that is okay. Have you noticed that the rusty area just above that plate you built and just below the shock tower is only 20ga sheet metal? I know the stresses on that inner fender coming from the X member and the shock tower above it are spread through out the connecting structure but it has always seemed strange that they left those 2-3" of 20ga inner fender without joining that X member plate to the shock tower. Maybe the shock towers wouldn't flex so much if they had.
  2. I don't know if that would work (emissions, etc) but I stuffed an L28 with 5-speed into a '71 Mercedes 230 sedan -- commuted in it about 12 years before selling. (Gal wrecked it!) It made an okay car a real fun ride, esp as it was SB42 smog-inspection exempt. Used a Maxima oil pan and throttle linkage, and notched the front cross-member (with heavy internal stiffening) but not many other changes, despite the fact that the M-B was an automatic car; very nice driver and cheap!! Shamed a Subaru WRX coupe through three gears; young dudes said "Whoa; fast car, grandpa!" Got me through my Z-less period after Nissan bought my orig owner '70 back in '95. Built a better '71 and got the silver color I ordered in the first place but settled for green... I wrote an tongue-in-cheek article on it for Z Car Magazine (I was Restoration Editor then) but it folded (not my fault, I always hope!) before it got in print. Red NL320 has been crowded out of the garage now; it needs a new home; $8,995.00 asking.
  3. ....if I'm still alive in 12 months, they'll be available !
  4. Integrated Engineering makes a Surge tank that includes Internal mounting for an Bosch 044 or similar pump.. Single or Dual pump versions available. Lots of VW/Audi/Subi guys use them. You can keep the stock 240Z tank, Return lines can route back to the surge tank. http://www.performancebyie.com/ie-submerged-044-billet-surge-tank
  5. Original 1970's Instrument Voltage limiters are next to impossible to find. A Voltage limiter from the 1980's and 1990's can be retrofitted. 24866-54A00 is a popular model. You can still buy them from dealerships or find them in Bone Yards. Pathfinders and Trucks use the 24866-54A00. You may find the newer V/Reg has three wires. Extra black wire is for a dedicated ground. Old 1970's style grounded through case. Edit: 24866-07G05 may be a better choice. Cheaper and only two wire
  6. The most expensive car you will ever own is an inexpensive German car.....
  7. Crap. The 280 rad is too wide for the new frame rails. I wonder if an aluminum 240 or 280 rad is narrower? I was going to go aluminum anyways.. 25" between frame rails in the centre, 26.25 at the rad support.
  8. ZeddFindings front frame rails with my supports in place...
  9. As an aside, unicoil is great for those tight bends where the lines tend to kink.
  10. How did he make the curved upturned edges? Metal shrinker?
  11. Remember, the vehicle must retain 50% of the original metal to be allowed to carry the original VIN...
  12. Chuck is adding a rear spoiler on my 70 white Z.....I just like the look!
