  1. Flames erupting from the rear. I like his sense of humor.
  2. Maybe insurance rates are lower because a stick shift is more of a deterrent to a car thief than a car alarm now.
  3. Betcha he's also riding on Firestone 500 tires!
  4. I believe there is some truth in what you type. A couple of weeks ago I was getting gas for my 260Z. When I went in to pay, the young man who was the cashier asked me what kind of car it was. I told him it was a Datsun 260Z, and he replied that he thought it was a Ford Pinto.

Looks like a great project! Finding one in stock condition, or close to it, is more than half the challenge. That way, at least most of the mistakes made will be your own. Have fun and welcome to the club!
  6. Yeah, back in my high school days I could drink a beer, smoke a cig and change gears driving my 280 with my knee. But I do think 16 year olds will have a hard time doing it with the newer front wheel drive cars. My phone has "talk to text" but my southern twang isn't recognized by the phone's feature. Anyway, the parents are falling for it and he's making good money.

It looks complete, original and not messed with. Thats a good sign. When you are ready to start it, you will probably have issues with the efi. Most of us do. Looking at the surface rust on the piping, I would expect corrosion in the connectors. Check the link I posted on how to solve that problem. You will probably get it running, but then getting it running right will be your challenge. One step at a time: Awaken the beast, get it running, diagnose, improve.

This what the engine bay looked like before i shop vac'd it.
  9. Loosen the cap while it's sitting and see if pressure buildup is part of the problem. There have been discussions about the tank holding pressure before. Somewhat inconclusive. My 76 has zero pressure buildup. When I remove the cap, nothing happens. Could be that my check valve is toast, or they changed the valve in later years. The diagrams show a spring-actuated check valve, but there's no information about the pressure it's designed to release. It's between the vent tank and the charcoal can. Since you have a decent view of the leak area you might also jack up the passenger side of the car, creating a new low spot. If the leak is in the hose, you'll see a trail down the hose from the hole. If it's at the metal-hose interface you'll only see fuel at the seam. Use a mirror to get a better view. That's a lot of gas.

Again, welcome. and for future reference, Unlike FB, this group has a search function at the top right side of the page. You will find a lot of subjects already have answers there. I would also highly recommend you download the FSM for you car here http://www.classiczcars.com/files/category/4-manuals/. PS: We love pictures to help solve issues or to show off a little!

Welcome, and glad you made it. It is much more sane here that some of the FB sites, although Georgia Datsun Owners is pretty good.
  12. Pics of the new rails. very nice!
  13. I should set up my Go Fund Me page....
  14. That's a great idea! I can only think of two things that's keeping Mark from being a legitimate cable show of his own!
  15. How about it Mark, do you think you can work Courtney Hansen into some of your photos?
  16. The reason I say that is hardly ever have I read of a bad fpr. It's always something else like bad injectors or the ecu. Get it running and clamp off the return hose. I wasted a lot of money thinking my way. These cars are different from anything I've ever worked on, that's why I love them. Worst or best scenario in my opinion is switching to a set of SU carbs like rossiz did. Its cheaper in the long run in my opinion. Cliff
