  1. It is working correctly. It's a parking brake not an emergency brake.
  2. Fitted my jdm 5speed gear knobb on my silver 240z. Looks fantastic! Also changed my window "molding" because it had a dent that i realy hated. Before After
  3. I would rather read an explanation standing on my head than get that wise arse "use the search function". You and Zed Head are the ones who take the time to explain, it's that "teach a man to fish" thing.
  4. The pull to the left and excessive wear on the left side pads suggests you have a sticking caliper. Are both left side pads equally worn or is one more worn than the other? One side worn is probably a piston not returning, both sides worn might indicate an upstream problem keeping pressure on the entire caliper. Apply Occam's Razor here - caliper rebuild kits are cheap and its an easy project. It will give you a chance to inspect the bores and pistons for corrosion, pitting, ...etc. Do both sides if you elect this option.

Gav, Both had been neglected for some years and both required a 'nuts and bolt' restoration which I believe they are receiving now. Well, I know one of them is being looked after. They were undoubtedly in better shape than what I ended up with and had more savable parts as well. At the time I wasn't willing to do a full restoration and wanted something ready (or near enough) to drive. They also wanted way more than what I thought they were worth but in retrospect they were priced reasonably. By the time 19 came up I had been in the market for some months and saw the values escalate rapidly. I also came around to the long term view with this purchase, something which has always eluded me. Must be getting old...
  6. Site That's pretty glossy. Obviously glossier than the crossmember and dust shield. I will aim for the gloss finish I already have. That will prevent so much rework. Thanks Guys
  7. Displayed my car, along with my neighbor's green 240Z at the annual Lyon's Club "Cars in the Park". My wife made me a new poster for the show, which was much better than my previous attempt. We both had a nice time. Show is mostly classic Americana and hot rods. There was a red 1974 Ferrari Dino that I thought should have won the best "fur-in" car award, but it was awarded for a second time to a BRG XKE show queen. Our little 240Z's received lots of appreciation from people at the show, especially my neighbor's green car. One car collector came by several times to chat, telling me he was very impressed with Z. He has an 83' Z and a 2000 roadster. We chatted awhile about how Datsun's are finally starting to get the recognition they deserve. There were many photos were taken of our little Z's, including some for a newish classic car web site: http://classiccarpicturesalmanac.com/ It will be a little while before they are uploaded. All-in-all, a pretty nice day.

  9. Thanks Lumens :-) I've taken the car today to a company who will install the header and Weber 40's and tune the Z, It's the furthest I've driven it since it landed, about 20 miles, a few of things I noticed were that it changes gears very smoothly, the brakes feel 42 yrs old :-) and not many people on the road had seen a 240Z for quite a while if ever, oh and the tick over rose up to 2K! I should be able to collect within 2 weeks .
