LF fuel injectors

Featured Replies

Got the car back from the shop, they said the back three injectors are bad and I wanted to replace them. Does anyone have a handful of working injectors they want to sell? I don’t want to buy new ones since I will be upgrading to the pro tuners setup down the road.

Google injector rebuilders on line to be cleaned. Send all 6 to them to be refurbished. There’s a guy here in Florida that cleaned mine. Don’t recall the name. There are companies out there. Some will send you a video of before and after video of all 6 performing under different conditions.

What did that run you? I’m being cheap about this right now.

I checked on google last night found over 10 businesses that clean injectors. A lot cheaper than buying new ones for sure.

I talked to a guy in denver, costs about 25$ per injector and due to the age he strongly suggested sending extra's just in case some of them are unrepairable. Its still cheaper than new ones for sure, I was hoping to find a couple known good ones for 10-15$. Im being really cheap about these because I am going to upgrade to the full protunerz setup, I just don't want to do it just yet. The intake, injectors, fuel rail and all the other associated goodies is about $1500. The engine management is another 3k or so. I'd like to rebuild the motor before I pop that on there.

Probably want to find out what they mean by bad, and how they determined it. If they are bad electrically they can't be "rebuilt". Also, if they are rusted internally they can't be rebuilt. Cleaning, plus a new screen and pintle cap are all about all that a rebuilder can do, along with verifying flow rates and solenoid performance. They can't be disassembled.

@Terrapin Z might have a set of old injectors. I don't know if he tests them or not.

The mechinic said that the back three injectors werent firing. We did manage to get the car running, but it runs like garbage. I wonder why. He couldnt get it to stay running because of the injectors, but when I went to pick it up, I started it up for giggles and it kept running, I think one of the injectors fixed itself possibly. The guy was really smart, but his focus was just to get it somewhat running for me since I couldnt figure out the electrical issue. Managed to drive it up on to the trailer and into the garage. but the car did not like it at all.

I ordered new pigtails as well.

They can get gummed up and stuck if they dry out. Gasoline residue. Sometimes they do come back to life. Tapping them with a solid object will sometimes break them free. You can do it with the engine running. You'll hear when it happens.

If it's all three back injectors, it might be an ECU issue. The ECU controls the injectors in two groups... 1-3 and 4-6. Might be a problem with the circuit that drives 4 through 6?

Very well could be but with the age of the injectors would it not be a good idea to go ahead and have them cleaned and remove that variable? Good chance the other 3 aren’t in the best shape. Just a thought?

Went out and cleaned the garage and decided to mess around a little bit before it gets hot. The back three injectors I not firing at all, I used the old pipe to ear trick and I could hear the first three. I tried tapping with a rubber hammer and I also swapped out the ECU with a spare I bought and had the same issue. I think the injectors are just bad. I've got to stew on the price for a bit, but I may just cave and buy the pro tunerz kit. The fuel rail for their intake kit is different than the stand alone or I'd have just bought their injectors and rail and gotten the intake later.
