LF fuel injectors

I'm just having a hard time believing that all six of your brand new injectors are dead on arrival. That's why I'm searching for a different answer.

Where are you located?

Im in Colorado near the Springs, I ordered the set darom had and im just gonna return these. Its not worth the headache especially since ill be upgrading once im satisfied everything I need to reuse is usable. Chances the entire car is going to be new, but this way I get to learn without breaking new stuff. Outside of these kinds of headaches its fun and satisfying. It'll be a really nice car when im done with it.

I was there for ZCON, but CO is a little far for an off-duty house call. 🙂

So you're bailing on the injector thing and ordering a different set that has a better past reputation? I'm currently interested in hearing and investigating injector issues as I'm planing to mess with them here in the not too distant future.

I have one of two guesses based on the reading I have done. Either these are just dead or perhaps the resistance right. I was kinda nerding out on that zcar post, its not often you see people using oscilloscopes. Its well beyond my skillset but looking at it, there was a voltage difference. This kinda falls inline with what the mechanic told me. When he was troubleshooting he said the injectors were suppose to get 3v. On that post the new injectors were getting 14 and his old ones were getting 5 so, 'shrug'

next time I get out there im gonna hook up my 3 known good injectors and three new ones and point them at some bottles and see what I see. Im expecting that the old ones will fire and the new ones wont. Then Ill swap the positions and do it again. This would confirm my suspicions about non-working injectors. At that point its not worth messing with them anymore.

I did read that injectors are color coded and that the black injectors are rebuilt from china. I dont remember what all they reuse but I do remember that a lot of people find them to be junk. The couple reviews I had on amazon didnt have high things to say about them either, but the other ones available at that price point werent any better. At least i can return them easily enough.

Adding to CO's simplified test method, if you don't want to contaminate the injectors since you're planning to return them. Use the Nissan-verified human-powered pneumatic pressurization method.

In the works: Awesome updates to the SNO Dashboard! [April2020] - Node Operators - Storj Community Forum (official)

I got the injectors from @darom today and I ran out to the garage to try them out. I plugged them all in and I could feel them pulsing in my hand so I went ahead and installed them.

And it Runs!! It so satisfying when problems like this get solved. It seems to run well enough. I installed a new oil pressure sender and Im getting good oil pressure as well! I still need to clean up and wrap the wiring though.

Shout out to everyone that helped me through this issue!

PSA: DONT buy Amazon Injectors!

Awesome news, Chris! Glad they worked out for you.

Hey @Captain Obvious , what kind of injector testing are you planning on doing? I have collected a pretty good pile of them. I have Pink ones from a 300zx, green ones ( at least 2 different colors of green) and I have a set from a 75 Mercedes SL500 that flow like mad!

I purchased a couple of Autool CT150 injector machines for cleaning and testing purposes.

The short story is I need to replace the injectors on a buddy's Z and I gotta believe there are easier to find, cheaper options other than the original design. I've been intrigued by the problem found by some owners where it would fire with five connected, but not six. My assumption is that is only happens on the newer ECU's and there must be some kind of internal current monitoring and limiting. Five injectors don't hit the limit, but six puts it over the threshold and the ECU shuts down in self-preservation mode?

I don't know why nowak1981's amazon injectors didn't work, and I'd like to know.

I wasn't planning to be doing a lot of flow testing. More electrical testing. Resistance, impedance, that sort of thing.

The 2 sets of faulty injectors that I saw on ZCar were used in 1982 or 1983. Nissan made big changes in 1982 eliminating the external dropping resistors and incorporated their function inside the 82-83 ECUs.

I too have been looking for other injector options. Ford had some yellow top hi impedance that may work on the pre 82 cars if the dropping resistors are removed.

There have been many vehicles that used the EV1 style bosch style injectors including range rover, mercedes. If found a 1974 and a 1975 SL500 at the local junk yard and pulled the injectors from one of them and they flow twice as much as what is in the Datsun.

Here is some very useful information that I found out on the web.

@Captain Obvious let me know if that link works. I have the doc saved on my laptop and just did a drag and drop. I test clicked the link and the doc was put into my downloads folder.
