Engine Bay Service Light Switch

Featured Replies

Has anyone located a source for a replacement switch for the engine bay service light?  I have two R&R's in work but one has a broken toggle.  Thanks for any leads or tips.

I'm bumping my post.  Perhaps someone (one of our resident hoarders?) has a light that is beyond fixing but still has a usable OE switch I could buy.  Thanks.

Those switches look relatively generic. Maybe there's a new switch you could use instead?

Paint the visible parts of the switch like the toggle white to mimic the original plastic? (Or whatever color they used to be before they were bleached over time  :) )

Let me have a look Jim. (Home for lunch with little time at the moment.)

I may have one that is beyond redemption--- save the switch. ;)

Yep, as close as Fry's or the Shack (still open).  Just trying to locate OE before I bail out for generic.  Good tip on the paint.  Looks like a Jim will be able to come through.

Out of the 8 of these that I have, this one is in the worst condition. The switch seems okay.

Yours if you want it Jim. Shipping would be about $8

Right. I knew that. I was thinking "get it working" and not "concourse restoration". I should've considered the source....

It probably won't be concours but I'll try to make it as nice as possible.  Got one coming from @Terrapin Z, gotta luv that unique PNW Patina!

That piece came from the early 260 I found on Vashon Island. Surrounded by salt water and buried in the bushes.

It takes years to establish a fine patina like that.

The part is in the mail.

I thought that deep rich red patina was from salt water. You just can't get that special texture and variegated maroon color from rain.
