Weber selection and initial jet tuning

Featured Replies

This thread is very quiet. Are there others following it?

Curious to know. Please chime in.

Absolutely, following along to increase my limited knowledge, even though my triples are pretty well set.  Love the tinkering with jets, etc!

Yes me too. Even though I have Mikuni's. The only thing I noticed was in all the years I have talked to others about

Weber and Mikuni, I have never run into anyone say they were using a air jet over 200. I must have missed something along the way.

Otherwise they would not make them I guess.

Likewise. I've learned a great deal about Weber's from this thread. Thanks and keep up the good work.

@blodi

Heads Up!  F19 tubes enroute to you from Europe ?

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing the difference.  Glad to know so many others are learning from this thread.  Hopefully it helps others in the future too.

Ok, got 4 logs in today and I also managed to get the RPM sensor working!  I noticed though that the revs read about ~800 rpm lower on the logger than the tach....not sure which is correct. I rev to 7K when I test on the tach. Maybe tach needs adjustment? Dunno.

F16 155/215...I didn't have 160's.....but looks like that might be the sweet spot between the 155 and 165.......First run was in the morning...last 3 were in afternoon with a bit higher temps.

Looking back on my logs, it looks like I do have 160's somewhere. I'll look around harder tonight. Also we did the 160/215 combo and it looked pretty good back then.

Great.  I'll add these to the plot repository when I get back home. I'm currently starting a new job and training in NJ near @Matthew Abate in Summit.  I may be in Dallas next week.

Yes I recall that 160 too ?

btw seeing that rpm trace is brilliant!

Cool!  I found the 160s tonight and installed them. I’ll retest in the next few days.

A couple side notes. I noticed the cruise has now been very rich. I believe this is due to the 70 idle jets. I am going to go back to the 65's to confirm that is the issue.

Also, after inputing my info into this gear ratio calculator; https://www.blocklayer.com/rpm-geareng.aspx

I do believe my tach is reading high and the data logger is correct. So I will try to dial that in as well.
