Refinishing Exhaust Manifold For Stock Appearance

Featured Replies

Ladies and gents - I have a restored, stock 1971 240Z. What are your suggestions for a long lasting stock appearance on the exhaust manifolds. The rest of the engine bay looks great but the manfolds go brown pretty quick.

thanks

I bead blast mine to metal and have them ceramic coated. If you don't want to spend the $$$$ for ceramic coating, bead blast and paint with VHT.

I just had mine ceramic coated. Good to 1300 degree F.

No high temp paints lasted long for me.

Regardless of the finish its all about the preparation work. Need to remove rust, grease, and other gunk that's baked on for the past 40+ years

Did a powder coater do that for you?

Yes, there is a Company that does powder and ceramic coating about 20 miles from me.

After getting it back and looking it over, I thought why didn't I grind off all the casting edges

if going this far? It would not have taken too long. Too late now.
