Antenna Poll Question

Featured Replies

I know the correct answer is "whatever you like, it's your car".......BUT.......

What do you guys think of the black rubber antenna instead of the original. The antenna on 797 is broken and I was leaning toward the black rubber rather than an after market automatic one........Just curious what you guys think about that rubber one on a 240Z.

I do like to keep things original, but the antenna, well, I just never gave it any thought until today.

So, Black rubber or OEM ish original.

In my opinion, I will be going with something like the black rubber antenna. I have spent a lot of money on my car and had to pick and chose what I put the money toward. The original chrome bumpers are bent and rusty, so I went with replacement fiberglass ones for now. The same with the antenna. I can spend the money where I need it and will likely put a black rubber one on. Someday I may have the money to spend but not now. I like the look of the rubber antenna or something similar.

I've never been a fan of the black rubber antennas-on any car. They just don't look right to my eyes- however, if it works for you (as a temporary or permanent addition) then go for it. In terms of economics, I fully agree that prioritizing your spending is important, and as long as the antenna (whatever kind you choose) works, then it works-and that's enough.

I like the rubber antenna idea. I'm not a big fan of chrome. Black goes with anything ;)

The black rubber antenna signals to me that for whatever reason that person chose the cheap way out. I like the OEM antenna or the aftermarket black chrome antenna. My 2 cents.

Anything other than a chrome retractable spoils the spirit of the Z.

However, opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one. It's your car, do what feels good.

I have a black rubber antenna on my 240Z and the reception is horrible.

Just thought I would chime in here.

The original chrome semi automatic is very long and the reception is great. As Walter said, the short black rubber ones are lousy. Also, they look like crap. I agree with Curtis. Every time I see a black rubber one on any car, I think they were too cheap to fix it right.

fixed typo

IF your doing an original restoration why skimp on the antenna. If your modifying who cares
