the unisyn i have did not have the tiny holes fully drilled in. i drilled all the way and it now works. i just finished balancing the carbs. my only problem now is that when i pull on the choke cable, the motor wants to die or it just stalls. i've been having this problem before carb balancing too. it does the same thing even if it's cold outside. this is for an SU round top. i'll get pictures up asap. i have searched online alot and i can't seem to find anything. any answer would help alot. thank you!

I recently moved from Sacramento (sea level) to Reno 4500' above sea level. My triple Weber carbs are pretty much perfectly tuned and synched for sea level. Anyone have an idea what jetting I should go to for 4500' above?

Don't know if that's a good title for this, but anyway... An old mechanic suggested I try setting my Mikunis via header tube heat differences. I was having a lean condition with spitting back through the carbs at most any rpm level and at any engine temperature. All the plugs displayed a nice, uniform tan color and I was a bit stumped. Using a touch pyrometer, I discovered vast differences in header tube temps: 385 degrees at the coolest to over 700 at the hottest. Voila! The picturesque "light bulb" cartoonishly drawn over someone's head just lit up. After adjusting the pilots to the same setting as the coolest hole, the problem went away. The subsequent test drive fully…

I am eliminating the smog stuff on the balance tube on the intake manifold of my 1970 Z. I want to put a threaded plug into the larger hole near the PCV valve and in one of the smaller vacuum barbs on top of the balance tube. Standard NPT 1/4 and 1/2 plugs look close but do not work. Anybody know the correct (?metric) thread size for these openings? Mike

Hello guys, just joined this site so i could get some help from u people out there. Have a 240z that i need to work on but little money to do it, so hoping u guys could offer some effective (but relatively cheap) ways to work on it. Im a big noobie at this stuff so all the help would be appreciated. For instance: the car runs fine and everything, but it always smells like its running rich all thetime. I checked to see if there was a fuel leak but that wasnt it. Do i need to tune the carbs up probably? what's the easiest way to do so?

Hello All, I am getting ready to reinstall my Intakes and Header manifolds. It has been many years since I removed them from the engine and do not remember what type of seal was at the end of the water tube between the intake manifolds, O-ring? Some type of rubber gasket? How did everybody seal this tube? Nissan shows the seals as no longer available. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Jeff

I've gotten lucky in many ways so far with this Mikuni project, but it's looking like I might have to bite the bullet here... All I can find for a heat shield online looks to run around the $150 ballpark. That seems extreme to me, but considering I won't/can't make my own, perhaps that's the point. I haven't reached out to the race shops yet, but does anyone know something obvious I'm missing in terms of sourcing one of these?

Mikuni fuel leak 1 2

I pulled off my mikuni 44s last night to do some head work and I noticed one air filters was fuel soaked. There was also a bit of fuel on multiple air horns and possibly some on the valves. My fuel pressure is set at 3psi and I recently adjusted the floats to spec. What are some possible causes for fuel leaking into the venturi on these carbs?

just rebuilt the carbs and what a difference, only thing is it is almost impossible to start. I'm think an elect. fuel pump that me "primes" the carbs before start would help this problem. The choke is working but doesn't make a bit difference. What do you think? Thanks Asa
