Appreciate some help here - Still sorting out performance issues w/ my 72 240z - has the stock SU carb set up - air injection system is disconnected and all vacuum ports capped. The car did not have the vacuum motor that controls the throttle opener vacuum dashpot. The car consistently stalls after blipping the throttle, or coming to a stop after driving, but will start back up immediately. Work around is to set idle at 1200 RPM. Does this device need to be operational (slow down throttle closing) to prevent the stalling? If so - where can find the components?

Does anyone know of a quiet 4 psi fuel pump? I have the RX7 pump installed at the moment and although they claim that it's 4psi it is more like 2 which in my case lets the bowls empty by the end of the quarter mile strip. Thanks, Chris

Finally i managed to replace the Far 311 Race Cam with the following smoother cam manufactured by Schneider: http://schneidercams.com/274FL6.aspx I also changed the springs, .175 lash pads, retainers and rocker arms (the full kit). In addition to this my carbs were recently remanufactured by Z therapy in order to avoid any issues. I plan on installing an AC system so using a cam that went from 4500 to 8500 wouldnt work. Anyway, i just tested the car yesterday, and have a couple of queries on its performance: 1. The choke cable when pulled only reaches 1,500 RPM at idle. Is this okay or should it be adjusted to 3,000 RPM when pulled? With the Far 311 Race Cam i man…

Hi guys, i'm just rebuilding my first set of SU's (and carbs in general), and I have a question about adjust the float. I've sent an email to Bruce @ Ztherapy, and I am waiting a reply but I know you guys can be pretty quick so i've posted here as well. The reason i'm concerned is that my Z was running decently prior to disassembly, and now following the instructions for proper float adjustment i've have to make some decent changes to the float to get it within spec. Here's the video, and let me know if i'm doing this correct. I'm also experiencing some stiction when close the valve, I assume moving the valve lower with some washers should help. How many can I add…

Hey Guys, I have been slowly restoring my 72 Z in Jamaica and I am now refreshing the stock 3 screw SUs. I disassembled them to change the gaskets and it appears that the dipsticks do not have the plungers, washer or snap clip attached to them. I have no clue why this is the case as the car was not running when I purchased it. I will take a pic later when I reach home just to be sure but from all I have seen on the net the dipsticks look a bit lacking. If this is correct then I am in need of a pair of complete dipsticks if anyone can spare. Thanks in advance.

I am restoring a 280z and have decided to abandon the fuel injection. I know the pros and cons of this or at least most of them. There are reasons I made the choice regarding mods to the powerplant and my doubts about constructing a custom fuel injection system and programming to match so I don't want to open that debate right now (don't get me wrong I do appreciate whatever advice I get). I had to run new fuel lines because the old ones were badly corroded. I am using a high pressure fuel pump (because I may want to go back to FI later) and using an Aeromotive regulator to reduce pressure. So I intend to go out to the regulator and back to the tank with the carbs t…

My car has been running fine since i finally managed to adjust both round top 3 screws su carbs. However, i do sometimes noticed that if i suddenly bump with the choke lever in the console, the yellow lights comes up. I decided then to move the lever up and down to see what happens. WRONGGGGG!!!! Now the cable got worse, the lever wont go up all the way as it did before and if i start the car its too cold. I tried tightening the screw in the console but it did nothing. Should i take the air filter out and unscrew both cables fastened at each of the carbs to see if it releases the pressure and goes back? I have never adjusted these choke cables before, i have left this iss…
