Alright guys, Here's my situation, it's been awhile since I've posted anything I've been really busy with my slow resto 240z. But here's my question, my 240z came with the e31 block, and someone stuck on an e88 head. The motor needs to be rebuilt anyways. I also have a f54 block that I just picked up, I believe it's from a 280zxt since it has dished pistons on it. That motor also needs to be rebuilt. I have a n42 head that was worked on and only half finished by a Z shop that closed down some years ago, but is pretty clean. Anyways I've read a lot of threads on here saying go L24 vs L28 but my question is what is the benefit? I'll be putting triple carbs, on it a…

I'm wondering if anyone has used these and know if they increased gas mileage. I'm just trying to justify the $70 for them because it would've been gas anyway if they do help If they do, how much did you see the increase by?

Not sure if this counts as belonging in our suspension forum, mods please move if you deem it so. I've been reading up on sectioning struts, and just want to know if I understand specifically why it's a good idea to section struts when prepping a z car for a lowered and/or adjustable suspension. As I understand it, struts are sectioned to match the shorter length of performance strut inserts with a correspondingly shorter strut tube. This allows the strut insert to retain full travel when the car is lowered (or raised, I suppose). Also, as I understand it, the reason sectioning the struts is not necessary is because a spacer placed inside the factory strut tube can be…

Well my friends, it’s that time again, the END of the holiday season and another year. Armature night is once again upon us, so if you have to be out on the roads tonight, keep your head on a swivel and watch out for the well lubricated road worriers and Johnny Law, both are out to spoil your night. I would like to take this opportunity to wish each of you all the best in 2012, and extend to all of you a “Thank You for all of your help in the various Z projects that I tackled this past year. Good health and good luck in 2012.

First, I'm NOT trying to "go political" so please don't infract me or give me any more points. I simply think this is a bit of good news for us and our cars, and as usual we won't be hearing about it on the news http://www.historicvehicle.org/Latest-News/December-2011/2011/12/23/Washington-Nixes-Ethanol-Subsidy

date on B-pillar tag is built 9/70 vin number is hls30 107** safari gold, stick shift alloy wheels, one owner, in storage since 1986 less than 50k. This Z has a story, and i tossed it in for the entertainment factor. I am not an authority on Japanese vehicles, and never had to be due to the fact that I had a guy in New Zealand who bought every one that crossed my path. He retired and set sail , so now I have to learn and I am finding that the information online is incomplete and inconsistent. The vin number on most cars carries a wealth of information, such as color, interior, options, sub-model , and build plant. Can some one point me in the right direction wher…

I've been using this site for over two years now and just realized how much money this site has saved me on my Z car fetish, I mean restoration. I would like to challange more people to have their names in red and get to be a supporting member. Everytime I do something to my '72 that I have learned from this outstanding group of individuals I'm PayPal'n at least $5.00, if not more! If all of us were to do that we could ensure this site to stay up and keeping our Admin happy and upgrading servers and resources. I'm not saying to donate everytime we help somebody or participate in a conversation, but when the site benefits us with improving our cars we need to but a por…

So my Z is still slowly coming along, now that school is out and the holidays are coming to an end I've been able to get some work done on her. Hopefully soon she will breath some fresh air for the first time in years. Anyhow I'm hoping to have her running perfectly before MSA's Z show! I've been checking up on their site every so often to see how progress is coming along and get more information as they said that it would be available near the end of the year. Here we are and same page is still up as the clock continues to count down. Just wondering if anyone has any information on it? Opinions? Who's going? Tips? Anyhow thanks!

Hey guys, I am looking for both body and engine shops in Tampa. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am in the middle of a complete restoration of a 72z and want a quality paint job. Also, as far as the engine is concerned i am looking for a place that has experience with high performance rebuilds I have recently finished the restoration on the complete suspension and undercarriage and am ready to continue the project. Please see pics of progress below Matt
