I am at the point where I'm ready to install snaps in my replacement firewall and replacement carpet. I have references photos. I did some dry fitting last night in the car. From that, it looks like this little tab that I thought was always bent downwards, to hold carpet from slipping "up"/forward, is actually supposed to be bent up, to... hold up the firewall? With the carpet I have at least, the carpet pretty must must come this far forward. So that the pedal bracket rests right at the bottom of the "big toe" crack, and the back of the carpet rests up against the seat support (but is not curled up there). Just wanted to check this is all good and expected be…

Hello Z peep holes, I am getting around to putting the interior together on one of them Z cars from Janyouharry of 1970, I was wondering what kind of carpet snaps the OE firewall insulator was equipped with. I have two styles that virtually fell off some of the pieces that I had here, and that @grannyknot supplied from his 1971??? orange car for the purpose of comparing and recreating of some fresh insulation. The ones that came off @grannyknot's pieces look to be a kind of "pyramid" shape with a masonite board circle behind them, and a countersunk screw in the center that has a nut behind the masonite circle on the back. Looks to be an M6 countersunk philips sc…

I have some photos I downloaded a few years ago when this project started, of the front floor jute. These, for example, have file names like "Kats repro 1970z", etc. I might have downloaded from here! Anyway, I'm trying to figure out 2 things: 1) would the jute in my 1970 Z have had this "stepped" cutout pattern, or not? 2) anybody know why Nissan might have put that pattern in? It's not like there are floor plugs there. Here's examples without it: (photo, for what it's worth, is labeled "jute-1970 240z":

Not sure which forum to put this in, so admins, please move to body/paint or heating/ac or whatever is appropriate if this is the wrong one. Wick Humble says I can use clear silicone sealer for the floor plugs, but what is an appropriate sealant for the firewall plugs? When I removed the old grommets from my firewall, the sealant was dried up, and black. Is it ok/safe to use silicone sealant on the firewall? I have some 3M Seam Sealer 08367, would that work? Not sure how well this stuff would stick to the rubber plugs.

I have searched all over - so apologies if I missed it - but I'm looking for a write up on the installation of the center console, and particularly a description/specification of all of the hardware for it. During my restoration, the hardware has long since disappeared, and I'm having a very difficult time finding any. I'm hoping that most of it can be found at a hardware store, but I just can't find any detailed descriptions, photographs or videos of the removal or reinstallation of the hardware. My car is a 78 280z but I'm assuming they are all pretty similar in terms of the console. Thanks in advance.

I bought the leather versions of their upholstery (off Amazon, included vents & "Z" embroidery without additional cost), and the new foam to go with. My original seats have 250K miles, so I figured safer to have the foam. There was much hay on the floor. I watched a coupe videos, just to get the gist of the Datsun construction. One guy used dozens of tie wraps(!). I'm familiar with Volvo & Honda (S2000) seats, many hog rings on those, so it was nice to see the way Datsun went about it. Anyway, took the seats out yesterday, and the carpets & under-matting. I have new carpet also, so I need to clean everything up, fix the heater valve coolant leak, th…

I removed my dash a few years ago, and am getting the point where I can put it back in the car, but in checking parts today, I came across these 3 metal brackets, and I'm not sure what they are from. I failed to take good photos or a video when I took it out, and well, the old Mark I memory system is giving me nothing on these. They were in a bag with the screws that held the dash to the dashed, so maybe they are dash related? I've looked around at photos here and at HybridZ, and it's not obvious to me where these would be, if they are dash-related.

Guys, i took out the glass and cleaned everything. There are 4 guide rollers that slide into the regulator. Any chance someone had taken pictures how they fit on the inside of the plate holding the glass? I forgot to take the pictures 🙂 the hardware in the picture.

I need to extend the crank shaft maybe 1/2 inch to keep it from rubbing against the door card covering. I had covered the door in leather and added 1/4-inch or more of foam and quilted the leather. I've found some extensions for Ford, Chevy (picture attached) and a few other cars but I was told by the vendor that it will not fit the Datsun Z. Before I try and machine a couple, does anyone know a source for this item. If not, anyone have a detailed, scale drawing of the shaft I can use as a starting point if I have to create one?

I've seen pics of interiors that have the trim panels under the pedals & covering the wiring on the right (for example in EuroDat's HEI conversion thread, pic showing his ICM wiring). I'm going to add them to my 75, I just can't find any pics that show the mounting point itself. Are they secured directly to the floor/bulkhead, are there raised mount tabs? If anyone has pics with the carpet out where the mounts are visible, that would be awesome. There are 3 mount points per side.
