Hi all! Long time no talk... Things have been busy. Z is doing good and am spending money on it so that makes her happy. Anyone have a set of 280 strut housings/uprights they'd like to sell? I've got some new Advanced Design struts coming and I know they won't fit the 240 uprights... Thanks, -e

I've been refurbishing my 240Z rear suspension recently and when ticking new parts off the microfiche I came across item no. 55418 N3000 on section no. 92-10. Described as a plate to the diff mounting member. Haven't noticed one of these on any cars before but there are two holes there to bolt it on. Were they always factory fitted ? Anyone got a picture and one to sell ? Thanks, Dave

Where can I find a complete set of rubber bushings? Just stock replacement ones, I'm not interested in urethane. I know MSA has them but they seem kind of pricey. any help appreciated...

I stumbled upon a complete competition suspension a few years ago and am finally getting around to the install. I didn't realize it at the time but when I pulled the springs off the rear struts and pulled the shocks they were the original oil filled type. The oil escaped before I realized what was happening. D'oh! My dilemma: rebuild the shocks, replace with aftermarket Koni or Tokico, or sell the whole shootin match. I was going to put these on my V8 project but am now thinging about comfort. How much oil do they take and what kind?

O.K., here is an informal poll: When the FSM tells you that the Rear Brakes are "Automatically Adjusted" and that routine adjustment is not required... Would you consider the brakes to be a "Self Adjusting" system? Having owned cars (and still own) that require religious, routine adjustment of the Star Wheel Adjusters to keep proper drum to shoe clearance, I consider the brakes on the S30 to be "Self Adjusting" and use the term interchangably with "Automatically Adjusted"... How about you guys? Kinda Curious on the 'terminology take'.... Note: this is not for the guys that refuse to use their parking brake as intended and have to manually adjust their brakes all the …

I just assembled coilovers in the front of my 240z, and I have a question. Im running MM coilovers with EMI camberplates and Suspension Techniques bump stops. I dropped my car down and it seemed like I didnt have much suspension travel with the bumbstops? I havent lowered the car yet, its the same height as it was before. I would of thought that I would have plenty of travel at stock height and with camberplates.. Should I shorten the bumpstops? Does this seem right? It seems like if I lower the car 2" it will be riding the bumbstops.. Oh..btw, I havent sectioned my struts.. Anyone who can help?

Hey, I finished up the front end yesterday. It was rather time consuming, because I had not done it before. I had to keep referring back to the shop manual. I guess I will tackle the rear end next week. I will also take photos of the rear end. I did not take photos of the front end. I replaced the rack, ball joints, tie-rod ends (motorsport), the struts (KYB-GR2), springs (Euro-springs from Courtesy) and all the bushing that I could - except for the stabilizer bar. The questions that I have is in regards to the front end alignment. Should I go ahead and set a static alignment before I lower her off the jack stands? My problem with is as soon as I lower her off …

I ran across a set of eibach springs at the junkyard yesterday on a 73 Z. Would there be any problem if I were to pull them off and put them on my Z, or would I be better off buying new springs?

hello all! trying to get the front end back together and ran into a snag. PO installed a 15/16" interpart sway bar up front and put rubber bushings on it anyway, i replaced all of the bushings with urethane ones from motorsport, and since the sway bar is larger than stock i had to get new bushings. anyone have any recommendations? i bought the energy suspension universal 15/16" bushings with mounting bracket, but the slider holes are too far apart for the Z mounting nuts. i crunched the bracket together with channel-locks and am sick and tired of spending HOURS reshaping these bushings with an xacto blade!

I am going to have my mechanic put my new springs and struts on. I happened to look in the Haynes manual last night under rear suspension and for spring removal it shows taking the pins and the individual rear suspension A frames out. is this right? i didn't think you needed to go through that the spindle pin headache for the springs. I know my mechanic, who has owned a couple 240-Z's mentioned something to me in the past about being able to cut the rear springs to get them out, thus saving alot of time.Does that sound logical?

I needed a new rear right suspension, strictly the a-joint. It seems that the PO had an accident and the rear suspension is now bent. I went to the local pick-a-part and all I could find was a 78' 280Z so I picked up the a-joint and everything attached to it(Coil, shock, drum etc.) I was wondering if these parts are interchangeable for a 1973 240Z. Can I simply remove the coil+shock and pop that thing in, or is there more to it? Any help and pointers are greatly appreciated. Thank You, Albert

Hey guys and gals. I'm going to plunge into the unknown and replace brakes, bearings and bushings left to right front to back. It feels like a big job, but after everything else I've done so far, what the hell! right? I've seen some write ups on the rear wheel bearings and I'm a little nervous or am I just being paranoid? Any input would be helpful. Dan
