  2. So today's adventure... I struggled with the reproduction braided hose stuff in the engine compartment. I'm not impressed. Don't fit great. Hose clamps peel back the braided outer covering. Inconsistant braid cover. Frustrating. Is it just me? On a good note... Remember my "F" switch?: Well I removed the switch and plugged the hole. The braided hoses weren't picture worthy, but the result with the "F" switch was! Looks like this: Three work days remaining!! Well, actually two at this point, but here's a pic from earlier today:
  3. Bring it to zcon. I'll fix it for you. ☺️
  4. Measuring resistance from 7 to 8 will provide difficult to interpret results. The best way to check the AFM slider is to put battery voltage across 9 to 6 (positive on 9, negative on 6), and then measure the voltage between 7 and 8 while you move the wiper around. This process is documented on page EE-13 of the 77 FSM) The AFM is Dr. Bosch black magic and voodoo. As for the dent in the wiper? I don't know what you mean. Can you circle what you're talking about on your pic?
  5. I wondered that too but don't really want to be the one to check it out
  6. Thanks John. I didnt pick that up...
  7. Very nice! Did you cover them?
  8. "Reserve not met". Probably have better luck on Bring a Trailer.

  10. LEDs aren't very voltage sensitive. I'm trying to figure out the voltage drop, though. Maybe I can get out to the garage tomorrow and take some meter readings for you to try to replicate. I'm wondering if the hazard switch may be corroded/crudded up enough that it's a choke point under load.

  12. So I tinkered with the flasher relays some more. I had a 3 prong one that required a ground. I couldn't get it to work no matter how I wired it at the bench. The two prong works fine with an LED bulb at the bench off the jump box. So I tried it in the car on both the turns and the hazards. With no relay in place I basically have battery voltage coming to the relay. When I plug it up and try to use it the voltage across (? I don't believe this was to ground...) the relay drops to less than 8 volts in both locations. So I am assuming neither the LED's or the electronic flasher will work at the low voltage??? Where to from here? @SteveJ others?

  17. I'm enjoying some cooler than normal temps in September, so I washed the 260Z and took it to a car meet.
  18. Much much better!! I know that’s Great English!!😂
  19. While the Afm is out take a finger nail file and polish up the contacts on the wiring harness connection.
  20. Yeah no turns out I'm just an idiot who set his meter to the wrong range. Turns out my temperature sensor is just fine with a reading of 2540 Ohm at 20°C (68°F). While I had the meter in hand I decided to take the AFM off the car and measure that as well. Long story shot I believe the carbon trace or the wiper inside the AFM is defective. When measuring between pin 7 and 8 I got very inconsistent and high values. When measuring between pin 8 and the silver parts of the the circuit bord the values ranged from 180 to 10 ohm on a logarithmic scale. I did notice the wiper has a dent in it? I don't think that should be there as I believe I can see signs that it has been dragging on the trace. No clue how that could happen. Just in case can someone confirm if that dent should be there? I don't think it does as I can't see it on any reference pictures. I will try and bent the wiper back into shape tomorrow and see if that helps.
  21. Thanks for the notes and responses. I am located in Central Oregon, which I know is limited in services. But will there are a few high end restoration shops around...... Paint is good enough for me to do a small car show this weekend...... here is a picture with the other wheels and tires.......
  22. You don't say where you are located but try and find one or two classic vehicle clubs in your area - any make car or truck. With enough trying, you'll get to owners who can get you local referrals.

  24. He will wear a red white and blue Datsun CAP! easy! 😃 (i think i have some of those old plastic grits as well but it takes more than 2 weeks to get them over there..)
  25. Don’t just go to the first body shop you can find. Most of the insurance painters and repair shops don’t really care as long as they get paid which leads to orange peel and miss matched paint. Like Patcon sad, ask the local automotive paint supply stores or classic car dealers (doesn’t matter which make). Had a big scratch on the passenger door of my 2008 VW Polo thanks to the previous owner (my sister’s husband). I found a local paint shop that was recommended by the dent removal guy at work (worked at the BMW motorcycle dealer for a while as a part time job). He resprayed the entire right side of the car otherwise you would see the difference in color (light grey car). All in all it cost me €600 cash and the result was perfect, you could not see the difference at all. My ’77 280z will also need some rust repair and painting within the coming years. I’ll probably take it to that guy as het specializes in high end BMW and Audi’s and rare classic BMW’s. He had a BMW 2002, E30 M3 EVO 2 and a first gen 6 series in the shop at that time for full body restauration. That and he accepts cash jobs which save me some money.
  26. Harmon brakes in GA can probably handle your booster... The reaction disc is the little rubber disc on the end of the chrome pushrod. Im not sure the ZX's had it?
  27. Where are you located? It can be difficult to find someone to paint an old datsun. Better now that the values have risen but tough to avoid paint jail. Where your car is stuck in a shop for a year or more. If I were looking for a painter, I would ask my local automotive paint shop. The jobbers who supply paint shops with materials. Ask when there aren't other customers around! I ended up painting my own because I couldn't find anybody reasonable to paint. It's been a long road with mixed results... I have no idea what current prices are for full paint. The rust needs to be dealt with for sure! I'm sure there is more there than the little bubbles. Take the glass out for the respray and strip as much as possible for improved results.
  28. Awesome! Thanks much! Make sure we have a way to find each other once we get there. I'm hoping to get there mid-day on Monday. Send me a PM when you get a chance.
