  1. I think Bill's is a 710, VIN JHL710-000026 He may also have a 610. I contributed to Bill's madness as I sold him my old Z back in '79 or 80. Of course he may still have a 610 as well.
  2. Hi Ron, Yes, ITS Currently running Hoosier R-6 225/50/14 on Enkei's. I have 14 and 15" panasports as well. Can only use a 7" wheel per the rules and no more than 15" diameter. Currently running sectioned Z struts with worn out Tokicos. I have eccentrics on front and rear control arms but will be installing camber plates. I am building new struts to run revalved Bilsteins. I am currently "soft" on springs 275/250 and I am at the limit of the coilovers adjsutment to get minimal legal ride height. I will be going to 8" springs with the new struts. I am stuck with the OEM 4 speed but currently running a 3.90 locked rear. I was short shifting into 3rd at turn 2 in the videos. Fixed that on Sunday  The low line makes the transition off of the banking a little easier. Of course, i was "chicken braking" into 1 as it was and had to check up a couple of times to keep the guys running high from "crashing" down onto me. :stupid: Thanks for the comments. I am still getting used to the car and this was my 3rd "official" race. I finished 1st on Sunday after Randy Shedd broke his gearbox and I popped the rockers off of #3. The brown 944 was leading but when he hit the scales he was underweight. I was 50# over and right behind him on 5 cylinders. BTW Ron, you may have seen this car several years ago. Micheal Scott built it and raced it on the west coast. It was green and black checkerboard then. Paul
  3. Samsung DV tape mounted on the A pillar down tube of the roll cage. I/o port video camera mount.
  4. Thanks. Wound up 2nd in class and 3rd overall after starting at the back of the field. Another Z took 1st. Here are a couple of other short videos from the same race. Used a Miata for a pick in this one. Waited longer than I should have to make the pass but it was not for a position in class except when I got by the Porsche in the video below
  5. Start of the June 14th SARRC SCCA race at Nashville Speedway.
  6. Thanks for sharing the video Ron. I was going to ask which Data system but you already answered I will try to get some video up soon. I had my 1st podium finishes a couple of weeks ago and I actually had the first race on tape. Killed the battery so no go for the second race. I still like the roadster......Thanks again for sharing. Paul
  7. I am by no means an expert, On my Z's the fitment has been simply a friction fit into the block. IIRC, I used a pair of channel lock pliers and carefully rotated the metal vent tube to remove it from the block.
  8. Here is the final photo of one I parted last year. Thought you guys might enjoy it. This was a complete car, not running, when I trailered it home.
  9. 6.1 mpg, 3.90 rear for now, 7k rpm as long and as often as possible LOLLOL Of course that is at the track. My DD actually gets 20 mpg in town and 24+ on the highway, Chevy 2500 diesel and fuel prices suck. $4.29/gal at the last fill up.
  10. Try flushing the fluid from the master and the lines. Just a thought if you haven't already flushed all of the fluid.
  11. Contact made, thread may be closed. Thanks!
  12. I returned your email but it bounced. Please send me a pm or resend me an email. My friend is still interested in your bumper pieces. BTW, your email was returned with "fatal errors." NOTE TO MODERATORS: I wasn't sure where to put this, I figured this area would be the less intrusive and might still find the message sender. Thanks, Paul
  13. I actually did the same thing back in the mid 70's after I pulled the captive nuts and frame (unibody) apart with my front bar. Of course it handled great up until theit pulled apart. :classic:
  14. It really is and I guess you can partially blame me for Bill's Z car passion. He bought my rust bucket '71 autox car back in 1980 or '81. He is a little younger than me and He carries the Datsun torch well. The 710 is truly a neat car that I got to see run at Road Atlanta more than once (at least a Bondurant 710). We have talked and emailed a couple of times since getting reacquainted after 20+ years of not seeing one another.
  15. As usual Jmark, great photos. I saw them on the IT board I think but they still look GREAT. I hope to be close enough to John or David to at least see their lines this year. BTW, Had I seen the Pharr car was for sale before David I would have started collecting coins to see if I could have come up with enough change. Oh well......
  16. Some numbers for you to chew on SoopA. I bought my already logbooked, outdated, car for $5k and spent about $300 getting it home. That was with me driving over 500 miles with an empty, borrowed trailer to pick it up. Since that time I have spent over $2k getting it upgraded to meet current standards on belts, cage. etc, another $5k on trailer and equipment and spent around another $3.5k last year in travel, fuel, and entry fees. That does not include the cost of the tow vehicle which added another $25k to this equation. For all of this I got a nice hat, and a few trophies, and a lot of memories. It would have been cheaper to buy my own hat and trophies. BTW, people like GIRA make driving a Z fast look easy. They are not easy to drive fast and can be unforgiving %^&* if you screw up. Most drivers will tell you that a Z is not a "good" beginner's car. Long way to say, listen to the advice you have received. Find the SCCA near your home of record, join, and then participate in the autox program. If you want to, buy a Z car and run it in the autox. Then do it! Get your feet wet by working a corner or two and driving the same track at a Performance Driving Experience(PDX) or High perfromance Drivers Education (HPDE) event. Heck, around SeDiv they give workers "credits" that can be used for the entry fees to the PDX's and HPDE's so they become no cost or very low cost. Now, if your heart is set on racing, I will suggest something that no one else has. Go rent a race car and attend driver's school to get your license. Find out if you like it in somebody elses car. It is not that expensive when compared to campaigning a car yourself and most of the guys renting cars are raceers themselves and the cars will be well prepared and set up. Think of it as an arrive and drive program. Good luck and I thank you for serving our country in the "sandbox"! Stay safe and come home to go racing!

Hi Greg and Jeff, I am glad that you guys are still running the Zed's. Some of us go back to the days of watching Paul Newman stuff a Sharp Z under the bridge at Atlanta :nervous: Hopefully I can join in the production/GT fray in a couple of years. I hope to make my ITS Z Prod legal so I can find some more track time. Next time you see Don tell him hi adn thank him for his help at Roebling last year. He truly is a "good guy" Hope to see you guys at the track... Paul
  18. Well, not in my current car but in a parts car that I bought. Found this in the tool compartment.
  19. Its not much, but here is how my Z looks. Autometer gauges in the OEM slots, Tach in the same place as OEM speedo and lap timer in the old Tach location. Not the best picture in the world but the only already on the cpu

Thought I would share a lap of Roebling from earlier this month. This is from the inside of my '72 ITS 240. Enjoy Paul
  21. Thought I would post a picture of my last parts car. Almost as far gone as this one. Did get a bonus. :nervous: Check out the picture and see what I found in the tool compartment.
  22. Nope, unless I decide to work Flag and comm on a corner. Neither me or the car are ready. Next year I will hit several SeDiv races, after a new motor and suspension during the off season.
  23. Here is the group I was with.
  24. Nice Porsche and from the orginal owner, Dang nice find. I tried to buy one many years ago that was all original but w/o motor. White with Red interior sitting in a barn. TT went well. It was mostly for track time for me and some testing. I wasn't as fast as I needed to be really competitive in w2w racing, but so what. I had fun and I am still learning the track. There were five of us traveling together. Two D-sports racers, F-500, ITB rabbit, and me. The only two open trailers were the rabbit and I. BTW, I am just down the road from you in the Rocket City.
