  1. Genesis Coupe 2.0T: 1,500 kgs (3,300 lbs); 210 HP @ 6,000 RPM; 223 lb-ft @ 2,000 RPM (doesn't 2,000 seem low or is that just the turbo?) Genesis Coupe 3.8: 1,543 kgs (3,395 lbs); 306 HP @ 6,300 RPM; 266 lb-ft @ 4,700 RPM 1970 240Z: 2,355 lbs; 156 HP @ 5,600 RPM; 146 lb-ft @ 4,400 RPM The net of it is: Genesis 2.0T: 6.2 HP / 100 lbs; 6.8 ft-lb / 100 lbs Genesis 3.8: 9.3 HP / 100 lbs; 7.8 ft-lb / 100 lbs Datsun 240Z: 6.4 HP / 100 lbs; 6.2 ft-lb / 100 lbs Since you don't feel HP (it's just another expression of torque), it would be fair to say that the Genesis' performance should feel pretty good in either trim.
  2. Yeah...the original HP #'s weren't dramatically different (peak HP is actually higher out of the L24 given lower emission standards). Of course, possible HP is higher out of the L28, but unless you are going to bore it, stroke it and juice up the induction side, an L24 will move the car around fine. I'd follow Carl's advice, go find a cheap L28 (or a turbo...?) and build yourself an engine. In the immortal words of the ad...enjoy the ride...
  3. Well...welcome to the madness. You've clearly joined us both feet first... First good move. You posted photos. That being said, I'd be reasonably suspicious of the claimed mileage on these. Other The body on 260 looks reasonably good (although paint is faded). The 280z...hmmm.... Carfax on the 260? I was under the impression carfax only worked on 17 digit VIN's (all VIN's have been 17 digits since 1981)...was it the mythical carfox perhaps... Have fun mining the forums for how-to stuff. Some truly amazing information here. Now for the most obvious question....what...exactly...is...a...disco potatoe...
  4. Way to go Ace. She looks very good, particularly the interior. I was a little worried when I saw the seat covers, but the driver's seat looks great as well. Bravo. That center console is aftermarket. It's a simply overlay on the existing console. I believe both Motorsport and Black Dragon sell them. Makes drive-thru life much easier (spoken by someone spilt more than 1 cup of coffee in the Z, including yesterday...)

    Pictures. Period. Oh yeah...welcome aboard...

So does Quebec...I had to bring in my 300ZX in for inspection 3 times (and with an expensive shaved exhaust header job) to get it past. Found a more understanding inspection guy for the 240z... Good luck with the inspection...good news if it fails, you can now sell a BC car to someone back east....ROFLROFLROFLROFL

Lives in BC (west coast)...bought a classic from Ontario (central/east coast)...that's a new/rare one... Welcome back to the madness of Z ownership. I let one of my buddies who had one back in university drive one of mine this week. He's suddenly in the market as well. Photo's a must. Hope you are safe from the scariness happening in Kelowna. Take care and welcome aboard.
  8. MSRAT... Must....stop...ressurecting...ancient...threads....
  9. Yes pictures. 23rd? Quite a number...do tell...anything cool? Actually, just did a count and I'm through #21 (mind you 10 of those have been company cars...). Welcome aboard.
  10. FSM=factory service manual... You can download it. Info will be in there....

Make sure of your choice...Fiberglass tends not to enjoy unplanned contact with curbs, rocks, dead raccoons, etc...not sure of the handling comparison between urethane and fiberglass...
  12. What took you so long...
  13. Hmm.. The battery tray rust is there, but there don't seem to be any perforations so you could clean up the area and probably be alright... I would really look into the floor issues. Pinhole rust throughs are usually evidence of a lot of bad stuff to come... No power steering is correct...you should see the biceps at club meets... Your budget is tight but not impossible. Truly and completely rust free (but needing paint) will be more and a 240Z slightly more again. This car would seem to be about right for the price assuming the floors are not really too rough. You might want to look at this: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/1277775292.html Good luck with the hunt.
  14. I wonder if there is a collector with one of every year 1969/70 - 1996? It's been discussed around my household (half in jest...her half...).
  15. Must...post...photos.... Welcome aboard! You'll find a treasure trove of information here. As a guideline, use search prior to asking as the 95% of the information has already been detailed. Cheers!
  16. Ok...that's a delightful lack of detail.. Year: Model: (guess the year will give us that, mind you could be 2+2..) Colour: Where bought: (ok, I'll assume you didn't pry loose an east coast classic...) Oh yeah....congratulations...the madness continues...

Or you can throw it up at Ontariozcar.com and try and sell it. Your probably looking at about $150 - $200 considering the condition you've described.
  20. No...gold...won't work...unless you get some grillz to match...snatch...playa...
  21. If it's really a mess, there are usually all kinds of L24's available reasonably cheap as people are swapping them out for L28's and other, more eccentric, options. Check the classifieds (or post a parts wanted) here, on www.zcar.com and on www.hybridz.org (home of the swaps...). Good luck with the car.

Yeah, I still think you're looking at something fuel related. I can't think of pieces of the electrical system that are that sensitive to ambient air temperature...and Z's of a certain period were notorious for vapor lock... Hey, you should move to Canada...no vapor lock and free health care to boot (note the Canadian accent when I said boot...)
  23. Excellence...she has the motor...needs the fan...
  24. Subtle as a wagon driver.... But one day I'm calling you guys up for carbs...
  25. Very nice looking car and a great story. You're a good man to ressurect her. I must point out that limiting it's exposure to one photo really just amount to teasing. Post some more photos.
