changing from a 180 to a R-200 in my '73
I used the original straight link from my 1970 when I did my R200 conversion and it works just fine. However, there is about 1/8" clearance between the diff cover and the link. Of course, I had to use the proper front diff support and mustach bar. I used an R200 diff and drive axles out of a 1981 to 83 280ZX. I did have to shorten the passenger side drive axle 1/2" so it would not bind when fully collapsed. It is a simple job for a good machine shop. My conversion worked out perfectly.

Zinc Plated Rotors
It would seem to me, that the plating on a rotor is intended to prevent rust from forming on the non pad contact areas....nothing more than an appearance think. Wouldn't you all agree? But, like 2ManyZs mentions, how long will the plating last when subjected to the heat of heavy braking?

What model Z do or did you own?
Well, I only have one Z. I've owned my 1970 240Z since December of 1983 where I purchased the car from Piere'Z in Hawthorn Ca. It is serial number HLS3002126 mfg date of 3/70. This was my daily driver for some time and was then put away in my garage until the year 2000 when I did a major redo of everything except the paint and window seals. It's now a weekend toy and like I've said many times before......"It so much fun to drive, it should be illegal".

Tire sizes for 17" wheels?
joedatsun, You are correct, regarding the coilover set-up. I have the Ground Control units with camber plate on 1.5" shortened struts. Front springs are 200 lbs x 10" free length and the rear are 275 lbs x 8" free lenght. (The 8" springs in the rear are necessary for proper clearance on the 17 x 9 wheels). I have no rub problems with the 235-40 x 17" tires however, there is not much room left in the rear with this set-up.

Colour Schemes
axcelr8, Do you have more pics of the z car you posted (redlow.jpg)? Sure would like to see the rest of the car. That's got to be the best looking modified series 1 rear end I've ever seen. Are those late model 300ZX tail lights? Oh! And it has California plates....home sweet home. Let's hear some feedback on this guys....what do you all think about the modification?

Whats that pipe?
Ooops US240Z....I miss read your post. Sorry! Getting older has some drawbacks!!!

Whats that pipe?
Better check that one US240Z. Sounds like you've got a closed loop system. Not the prefered method for venting an engine.

Easiest way to remove hardcore jute adhesive?
Well Makdiesel, You have to use the special jute scrapper. Funny thing is, is that it looks exactly like a putty knife!!! Just having a little fun with ya!!! Boy didn't they use some killer adhesives on these cars. Heck, if they had used more the floor boards wouldn't rust. Seriously, what you might try is some acetone to loosen the stuff up. Just remember about flammable materials!!!

brickyard350z
zrush has a point.......the 350Z is like a woman who looks great with her hair done and makeup on but when it's not she looks pretty sad!!! Don't get me wrong, I think the new Z is a great performing car but it should have been called something else. Maybe they should have called it the NISSAN TT or something!!?

Lightened flywheel
It's interesting to read posts that infer that lightened flywheels cause operational problems!!! Where do these roomers come from.....people who just don't know how to shift a manual transmission? For people who are interested in installing a lighter flywheel..........do it, it's a win win situation and your going to love it!!! Better acceloration for sure and I my opinion much easier to take off in 1st gear and overall shifting up and down through the gears. I have a 13 1/2 lbs alum flywheel in my 240 (late model 5 spd w/3.90 R200). Would I go back to a heavy stock flywheel? I think not!!! But, that's just one man's opinion

WTB rear right hardline
Steve, Just a suggestion, if I may. Now that your getting into the race car scene, it's time to buy some specialty tools. In this case, a tubing bender and a flaring tool. Then you can fabricate your own custom brake lines. You never know when you may want to do the big brake upgrade and install that proportioning valve. Plus, you can then run down to the auto parts store and pick up a length of brake line, cheap, and modify it to your requirements. Oh, don't forget the wine!!!!

Shelby Daytona Coupe Replica
Well Gav, I must admit you certainly have excellent taste in cars. This is one of my favorites.....along with the Jaguar XJ13

240zx???
Just to elaborate on that a little more, since I use that as my call name. I call my 240Z a 240ZX because it not only has an L28 but also the entire 280ZX drive train including the brake system. So, I thought to myself...........240Z on the outside and 280ZX on the inside (or underneath as it were) = 240ZX.
