Hey David, had trouble loading as well. Just took a long time so I finally killed it. Looking forward to seeing it!!!

This looks like a pretty good deal
That was a quick find GW! Seems a shame if the car is in decent "rustless" shape, that he will V-8 it. No offense to the V-8 guys. Would like to know what he finds when he gets it

lookin at a Z
Eric, car looks in great shape from the outside. Didn't see the other pic's, but as for dropping in engines(and on a college budget) a car in that price range and supposed shape should run you for your entire college stay and then some(I was on the extended plan myself!) As Arne and Virto said, should just be tuning and you should be good to go. Where did Arne find your engine shots?

Startiung Engine While in Storage
Hey Tomohawk, man I used to go to school in the mountains and my first Z sat outside in the snow and ice all year. Never had a problem with cranking, oil pressure, anything. Fired up and ran like a top. This was with the 73 carbs also. Now rust was another issue with that one!!. If your car has been in the hanger, and it hasn't been below 0 for extended time periods, FIRE IT UP!!! If concerned about start up friction, pump some Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders, shoot some on the valves (that you can) and put the key and go!!! Have fun
-
Finished my Z
Rick, sano looking job!! Man, must be nice to fire it up. Great job. Motor detail is real nice too. How did you clean your aluminum pieces? Again congrats.

keyed up
Hey Mike B, I don't think people are attacking you or butting into your business. Patrick just posted a question about the price of a key and who knew? I don't, never had to price one. Some say you can get them, some say its getting harder. Now we have an idea. Nothing personal and your Husky bud was just goofiing with you. Its all good!!

After 4 years, Its finally done!
Mark, great job!!! Its restos like your and Ed's (and many others, I haven't been here that long!) that make me continue to work on mine with the hope that it will look half as nice as yours. Enjoy, now what do you think about English sports cars as projects?

Body rotisserie or regular rotisserie? plus a few questions
Hey Greg, check out some threads by a club member Mull. His name is Philip. He just posted an update to his resto thread not long ago. Fun post but it takes some time to go through it all, it will get you pumped up in the end. My purpose for bringing it up is that he cuts and welds more metal off that car than you will believe and he has it on jackstands!!! I must admit, I bought a rotisserie from a club member and it is a backsaver. But if the budget is tight, you can get by without it. Check it out, the music is fun also!!! Good welding!

Just started on my 'refresh' of my 280z (Frame Rail question)

Fuel lines
Max, Dave(Dogma240) just posted an article on removal and replumbing of the evap tank. I can't remember if that vent line remains or is eliminated. Will read later and see what he said, should be in the member articles section

Fuel lines
Max, I have the Weber DGVs and they were installed by the local "Z doctor". There was not a fitting to connect the vent line to the manifold and he left the line in place and not connected. I always wondered if I could plug the line or if it had to be open and just venting in the engine bay. If I could plug it at the tank, that would be great. Unfortunately, Z doctor moved and can't ask him. Anybody with ideas??

My 71' 240z project ... =)
Philip, those clips were great. The music was great also, made me dig out an old Prodigy cd and throw it in the truck!! That was better than any fabricating video. It really helped my welding and now I see how to do my battery area. Thanks for the posts, really enjoyed watching each one. My wife now thinks I am insane!!

Treating inside/outside of gas tank with POR15 products and removing evaporation tank
Hey Jack, know anyone with one of those stud welders, you might be able to pull some of those dents out and not have to have the tank cut

Hey what do you know, found it. Hope it helps http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html

E88 not the best head?
Hey guys I suck at searching for old threads but there was one here that linked to a guys web site that went through all of the combinations that you are talking about. He described all blocks, heads and the combinations. Sorry I can't be more specific but he had it all down, very informative. Maybe someone else knows how to get to that thread. I will keep looking

Brake line/Fuel line refinishing
Kenny, the lines look great and that will really add to the look of the engine bay. I've wondered about that paint and how it looks afterward. Looks like it does quite well. I did mine with some "dull" aluminum colored paint and they came out pretty good, now just to get the engine bay finished!!!

Taillight panels
I like the way Ed's came out, I would go that way. Paint the grill the same color?

Gas for $1.98 a gallon here!
NC is at about 2.05 - 2.16 per gallon. Hey Mike and guys from GA, is there still a moretorium(sic) on the state gas tax down there?
