  1. It's a 76 Degree cam. What happened was my E88 has N42 valves, fair amount of porting a mild cam(not sure exact degree), it's been slapped onto a F54 block giving a fair amount of compression my guess is around 10:1. It's a bit smokey I believe valve stem seals as it's a puff after sitting at the lights or being stopped. I was gonna pull the head and rebuild it then install larger cam but I found a recently rebuild e88 with same specs just the bigger cam and it was cheaper than installing a new camshaft. So that's what i'm going with, I will be keepign the current e88 for now and if the new e88 isn't as great as I thought I'll probably sell it with the n42 block it's on and put that money into my current e88 but im not sure yet. I also have a P90 i've been saving for turbo charging but may or may not go with that if things don't work out. Early E88's are almost identical to the E31's in Australia anyway. I think the E88 had slightly bigger valves to start with and the compression was a little lower on the E88 but pretty much identical.
  2. PS: I forgot you mentioned Vin Number. Sorry.
  3. Well they look like the fattery style font which was found on later cars here in Australia. 74 - 75 cars had the early style fonts on their guages. So if im write and UK spec follow same pattern as Aus spec then it's anywhere between say 76- 78. Also i have found that the later 260z's had a differenet wiring harness altogether to the earlier ones. So if you go to a wrecker you will find early guages don't fit into the wiring harness without modification. unfortunately this is not an area that I'm 100% sure of so I could be off but it would seem logical that Nissan would keep the cars pretty much the same as they did earlier on in the piece. Can anyone else help out? PS: Original Engine Number and Chassis number may help Solve I'll PM SJCURTIS and get his attention to this thread.

  5. With larger valves bigger cam , nice extractors, 280zx ignition and some porting could be looking at 200HP. That's what my current engine is rated at by the PO never confirmed this but it goes pretty hard. Installing a bigger cam in my holidays which should give about 250HP once properly tuned and only diff is the bigger cam I'm using. The last owner of the new head I'm putting said it put out 120RWKW so I hope for the same when i put it on my car. Dunno about drivetrain losses. It's an early E88 head also which is almost identical to the E31.
  6. I was thinking of starting a thread with all our MSN address' but I thought nah i'll do it later since you started I will. my msn: deleted
  7. yeah very hard to tell 1 shot of the instruments up close could help alot.
  8. You can run both in series but I've kept the mechanical one on my 240z and never had any vapour lock issues. Mind you my bonnet has always been fluted. But my previous 260z was not fluted and had electric fuel pump never had fuel starvation. If you getting same problem as Zpeed sounds like fuel pump ain't putting out enough PSI. Get it tested if your unsure. You can even buy a fuel pressure guage.
  9. This is UK spec therefore I wouldn't expect door plate. The US is the only ones who got the door plate to my knowledge. If you can post your engine number that may help member sjcurtis is collecting information on early S30 series Z's and may have an idea of what your car falls under in terms of chassis number and engine number may give a clearer idea of what year when compared with others. Outside of the US the 260z ran till 78 and the larger bumpers were never introduced. You don't have a vented bonnet something later cars were more notorious for especially in Australia. Your interior trim may be a give away. Early cars lacked things like a brake light in the heater cluster i have found that later cars had more options in the centre console areas especially in Australia. I think UK and AUS cars are very close. IF you can get a photo of your guages also it may help later cars used a different font for there guages they were fatter number and letters. Early 74 cars were almost the same as late 240z's here. That's my 2 cents for now.
  10. compression seems fine, it's low but that's probably normal readings for your comp ratio mine is about 9.5:1 - 10:1 so i get around 180 PSI. Did mine cold also. i think get it running hot see if it's still leaking and confirm where from. Coolant leaves brown stains as u probably know so clean those up and see if u can locate the leak again. Test if your still getting what it appears to be from a cylinder when hot and quickly do a compression test then. Although I don't think you'd notice any diff in compression if it's leaking from the side or water jacket area combustion chamber could be fine.
  11. It's more a preference of a personal nature, i think hot you'd get a better setting more accurate anyway. As the engine get's hotter the metal of course expands and therefore the adjustment is more accurate hot because that's how the engine is most of the time. Cold is easier for newbies because time isn't againt you although I've never tried it cold but I will when I install the new camshaft. PS: You can find this discussion in the search facility under forums then search.
  12. I forgot to mention the photo is courtesy of ALan member HS30-H. It's his pride and joy. But I don't wanna Hijack this thread you still have a car to sell
  13. my 75 260z 2+2 had an electric fuel pump however it was nowhere near stock so...
  14. A ZG is a variant of the 240z that came with ZG styling. It varies from the normal S30 Z car in the fact that it has larger flares, a gnose with light covers and the chassis prefix was referred to by the factory as HS30-H although the second H was not visible on the actual chassis number. Another words it was a version of the 240z only produced between 71-73 i think could be 70 - 73 anway it was a improved car in terms of aerodynamics and road hold. Only available in Japan. The car for sale here was not released from the factory with a gnose therefore I would only call it a replica. Just the same as the car in gone in sixty seconds is a normal mustang fastback and not a genuine GT500 as it's dressed up to be therefore it's only a replica.
  15. Ah 3 years 1 is driving me nuts!!!! Yeah need another option under 24 seeing someone.
  16. Surely the works setup can be improved these days with 32bit ECU's etc.. I like those Photo's Alan I do recall reading about the skylines being fuel injected but not by works as a option for a standard car can you elaborate on this any further or is this false information? BTW I went through some years of Bathurst and couldn't find much about Skylines KPGC10 GTR's being raced I think I saw one but that was late 60's - early 70's the Z's were not there only in 75 I could see one. Any ideas on how to track down information on there racing history here in Australia?:cheeky:
  17. Great I love the idea of this just gotta work out what i will need and how much it will cost me so I can start saving. First things first however install new camshaft then go injection
  18. If you need 2+2 260z parts try Australia we have more 2+2's than any other S30 at least that's what I believe.

  20. My advice although i'm only young is to get on with your life ASAP. or at least show her you are, don't let her see that things are bringing you down if they are. Now is a great time to never be home, do something with friends work on the car whatever, your a guy who's going somewhere not some band jocket who can string a song together hehe. It also can't hurt to start seeing new women even if they are just friends .
  21. Yeah that's true but only after she's been washed she gets a bit smelly otherwise. She makes for a good Alarm clock wakes me up to let her outside.
  22. Sorry i had forgotten to fix that up the image was too large had to resize then forgot about this thread. Her name is Jester and she's a cheecky one I let her in my room while im on my PC posting and I always catch her getting onto my bed u can see her here doing it again. But who can resist that cute face :cheeky: .
  23. HAHA I'm not a seatist . Wasn't having a dig at the 2 by 2's I used to own one myself. Although I admit there not my favorite. I was more laughing at the concept drawing than anything else and thought if u want the boot space to go hunting get a 2+2 fold the back seats down(1 thing great about the 2+2 is you can have a kick arse stereo if u fold down the seats permanently.) I likened it to the volvo I'm sure u can sorta see why. Just wanted to clear things up and if you were using serious overtones of sarcasm well u got me good. It's 2 am and I'm doing homework this is my old break.
  24. I saw this in the city Melbourne here near a model shop right near flinders st station down the side right where Elizabeth st is. I bought the ZG version of this kit highly recommended except the side windows didn't have chrome strip around them and hence I feel car looks odd. I think I'd like the Rally version better as I think the ZG version looks a bit odd and out of shape. It was going for around $110.
  25. hmmmmm PS: GET A 2+2
