Wow, cool, looks great! Original colour too, but the dash reminds me of dead pig skin for some reason...

P-plate restrictions discussed
BTW, I do not disagree that something should be done. Just that the "means to an end" philosophy is NOT the way to govern a state.

P-plate restrictions discussed
Funny, we have some of the loosest laws about P-platers in Australia (dont have to wear the sign - although it's kinda becoming a fashion statement anyway....). New Zealand has a similar situation with the curfues and that, but the legal limit over there is 15 and they get off their P's earlier. 10pm isn't even late anyway, I guess they've picked that number anticipating a bit of bargaining with opposition... you know, like you do with your mother But anyway, those restrictions are way too harsh, 10pm? No passengers? You cant enforce something so radical.. it's impossible to change culture in the short term like that! Won't happen. Not any time soon, anyway. I think the system NSW (is this right?) has is a good one. It limits P-platers to driving only certain lower-powered cars - nothing over 200 HP or something. That's a more realistic, enforceable, and probably effective proposition IMO. Why do you say it would be worse, Chris???

L28 flattops...how much are they worth?

This Z was stored in a chicken coop since 1987
So you're going to sell the car complete? I think that's a wise decision. Thankyou!!! No, we all like the S30 bodyshape. I don't think that defines a "car", though. Our website's definition is more distinct. That is, a "car" is composed of all parts - body, interior, engine... Our site is for Classic Z car owners. That is, owners of S30's that strive for that 'classic' look, feel and - most important of all - drive. I hope you understand. By no means are you not welcome here! We have quite a few V8Z members. Just, they keep the V8 business to forums dedicated to it. Classic S30 bodywork, classic S30 interior and classic S30 mechanics are our focus. Oh yeah, and 240K's too.

In my dreams: Watanabe wheels
I had another look at my wheels - sorry - the 7.5J ones are Type-A. What is the difference between A and B?! Surely not the offset, since these ones are decently deep. I think the 9J ones are an older style, no markings I can see (except for 21 & 114.3, and the Watanabe logo on one of the spokes). They both look to be al-u-min-i-um to me.

What would a good price be....
Documentation to prove it's authenticity would also probably be helpful!

Recommendations for a performance shop!
I saw that thread too. Word spreads VERY fast over the net. I hope the business goes bankrupt - they're no-good crooks!

L28 flattops...how much are they worth?
What car came with an L28 and flat tops, in Australia??? (not denying it, just wanting to know!)

L28 flattops...how much are they worth?
Now, I'm no expert on 260Z's or 280ZX's (let alone 280Z's, which we didn't get in Australia), but I didn't think we ever got the L28 with flat tops. 260Z had the L26 and 280ZX had fuel injection. Correct me if I'm wrong.......?

1965 Datsun Pickup on Ebay
A few old Datsuns have been going on Ebay recently in Australia - here's another. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2030&item=2486403328&rd=1 At first I didn't really think that price was very realistic, but then I had a look at the SPECS of the ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mistaken identity
It's true, people would appreciate our cars if they didn't have "DATSUN" badges - I guess that's why so many people debadge them. What I heard in regards to why Datsun was even used in export markets was similar to what you said, Moyest. I heard that when Nissan BEGAN to export, they were afraid to give Nissan a bad name, if people in other markets didn't like their cars. They decided to call them Datsun, and then change over to Nissan once it was "safe". Interesting, because Datsun doesn't really have a good name! I wonder how much 'street cred' Nissan would have, if Datsuns were always Nissans... Get me??

In my dreams: Watanabe wheels
OH!! I love those Wheels Michael... they're up there near the Watanabes on my preference list! You already have those Watanabes fitted on your car, you shouldn't complain! But if you want wider ones... well, good things come to those who wait Gavin, I am not sure of the difference. I thought it was just the Offset which made them different "types" ('tyep' on my engrish Watanabe box!). I have 14x7.5 Type-B and 14x9 Type-R. Only difference I can see is the size!

This Z was stored in a chicken coop since 1987
Ben, I think Vicky was talking about the wheels on the green car (stock steelies). As for us being JEALOUS that you own a V8-Z... seems like the default defense by any 300ZX/350Z/V8-Z owner that ever comes here. We all have tastes and preferences, I for one will never own a V8-Z. (that's not to say we aren't jealous that you found that beautiful, unmolestered time capsule!!)
