I just use regular high quality(?) car covers (LeBra brand?) and store my cars in an unheated barn with a concrete floor...in amongst 20+ cars, and probably 15 boats... Typical Ottawa temperatures vary from +5C to -15C. I haven't had any moisture problems either(touch wood). Gordon Garrard

have a 77 here as well...just bought it this past September to replace my 72 that has been taken by the rust demon....as far as "faster and prettier"....this particular 77 is just as fast and pretty especially with the exhaust, suspension mods and 72 bumpers on it...

Don't see how you can risk "break failure" if your tire diameters are 3% or greater... I have used the 1010 tire calculator when sizing snow tires, and actually opted for the 3% larger tire choice, as the 65 series profile tires are cheaper than the 60 series versions...Note your speedo will be off by the % calculated.... Never heard of the wheel tool thingy :-) GWGarrard

I'm with Zbane on this - one of our club members who is a Solo2 fanatic sold his Z32TT because of the turbo lag and went back to NA. Of course, with a Infinity Q45 V8 in his 240Z he doesn't suffer any throttle lag anymore but he's definitely taxing his LSD... Gordon Garrard
  5. Sweet - well worth the bond fees....Enjoy. Gordon Garrard
  6. Seller is a member of the Montreal Z Club ZOOM, and was originally asking $15K. It's listed on our Thousand Island Z Car Club classifieds (http://www.tizcc.ca/classifieds.htm). Send him an email for more pictures if you're interested.... Gordon Garrard

We've a couple of chocolate Labrador retrievers watching over us...The attached picture is from June 2006, so the little one (Shasta) is now the same size as Gennie (~65lbs). When they spot a cat on our walks I generally have my hands full trying to keep my balance and stay upright...I can't wait til the snow and ice come, because I'll be skiing around the block... Congratulations Ron...nice to hear Car Crazy is expanding their horizons...(wish I still got SPeed TV, but our local Cable company moved it to HD and wants another $50/month). Classic Motorsports (sister mag to GrassRoots Motorsposts) did an article on Leno's Cosmo Sport back in September 2006...neat car. Gordon Garrard

BKelly - Where in New York state are you? Brock Yates lives in upstate NY, and runs a tavern in a small town. If nearby - you could visit and ask if he had any information he would be willing to share... see http://www.tizcc.ca/lap.htm Regards Gordon Garrard Osgoode, ON

Tomahawk - We had one at our 2001 Z Convention in Kingston, ON. I don't remember a specific prize per se, although the top 3 finishers most likely received a plaque/trophy (and bragging rights). It's your club's call on how you want to hand out the cards, etc. The purpose of our run was to allow participants the chance to explore the backroads of eastern Ontario, and we included lunch and tourist shopping on the route. Pretty paint won't make it go faster - but you will know the complete extent of any bondo and rust if you strip it clean...which allows you to repair the rust areas - expecially if they are structural, and you're going racing...check underneath - not only the floors etc, but also the subframing for the rear diff and suspension... Any word yet on the show winners? I'm wondering how Charlie Osborne has made out? Thanks Gordon Garrard Thousand Island Zed Car Club

Charlie might be hard to get a hold of for the next 10 days or so, as I suspect he's already enroute to the ZCCA convention in Daytona. GWGarrard

Will: I have Toyo Proxie 4s on the 280ZXT - sized 225/50/15 on 15x8 rims. We test fit these on a friend's 240Z, and they will fit - if you roll the rear fender lip. Going with the Enkie 15x7 rims you should have not problems. The 225- 50-15s are slightly smaller overall diameter so my speedo is slightly optimistic... I'm very pleased with the ride quality of the Proxies. GWGarrard

Zak - Not sure about the oxidation issue - but don't give up. Ask you body shop for their opinion, and go from there. Worst case scenario is that they will have to clean it up, and "re-repair" the spots. From your photo, it shouldn't take the body shop long to set things their way. GWGarrard

ONe of our club members put together the specs from Road&Track magazine for each of the Z aand ZX models produced...including the 350Z. http://www.tizcc.ca/zeds.htm GWGarrard Thousand Island Zed Car Club

If I remember correctly the original tire size for the Z translates to 195/70 x 14 in current tire lingo...(195mm width, 70% ratio width to height, and 14' wheel diameter). So a 75 aspect ratio (MidgeZ) is actually taller than the original if the width of 195mm is used. A good method to determine what size you "need" is to use one of the many tire calculators available on the web. An example is http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp Tire types are a presonnal preference usually regulated by your wallet...but buy the best you can afford. hd240Z is correct. The sidewall of a 60 series tire is harder that that of a 75 series tire. The shorter the sidewall (height) ratio the stronger the sidewall. GWGarrard

We have a couple of fellows running turbocharged Miatas at our annual Lapping Day events. They regularly earn the "Iron man of the day award" for completing the most laps. On top of that that they both drive the cars to and from the track (one fellow travels 5 hours). Both are the 1.8 litre versions. This year's entertainment was watching them pass a Lotus Elise on the back straight and pull away thru the corners (driver competency). Good find - I'm sure you'll enjoy it... Regards GWGarrard
  22. A clubmember installed the Eibach springs from MSA with existing KYBs this past weekend and has commented that the ride is better than with the stock springs....Also lowered the ride height about 1". GWGarrard Osgoode

Bob - Several friend have the 2004-2006 version of the Altima - although all have the 2.5 4 cylinder....and they are all happy with the car. I've heard rumours that there have been problems with the 2006's (engine related). With car pricing the way it is these days I stick to the used market...a 2 or 3 year old lease return is often 1/2 the cost of a new one. The Altima 3.5S is a pretty sweet car...just watch out for torque steer when you decide to play in the wet GWGarrard Osgoode ONT

I agree with the pipe wrench approach...but make sure the wrench is well positioned on the gland nut, and not the strut tube... :-) The gland nut doesn't like to move when you're clamping the strut tube (BTDT....) GWGarrard

This doesn't make sense to me....if the car was running when delivered to the transmission shop for a clutch replacement, how do the carbs get out of adjustment, and the fuel delivery system affected? R&R of the transmission involves removing the console to access the shifter and dropping the exhaust, driveshaft etc. Is there any chance the secondary coil wires might have been knocked off and reversed when reaching in to reconnect the exhaust pipe to the manifold?? Is there a ground wire that was previously bolted to the transmission that was not reconnected?? (i.e. is the spark weakened because of a bad ground?) I'm baffled.... GWGarrard
