udate on 'oil on my plugs'
Well I took the plugs out, cleaned them, put them back in. I drove about 100 miles, then checked the plugs again. I only noticed a small amount of oil ( very small ) on the threads. I'm wondering if, when I adjusted my valves, some oil dripped down to the plugs ( I also gapped my plugs on that day ) and worked its way down the threads. My reason for thinking this is that there was oil on every plug, but there was only oil on the threads. There is no evidence of oil on the tip of the plug. any cause for worry??? would a compression check tell me anything??

pulled front fenders
I second the motion Guycali. My small pair of needle nose vice grips, was the BEST tool in the bag on that day!!!

what causes oil on spark plugs?
well, I'm going to look at the plugs again, but I'm sure it's oil. The spark plugs were still wet with oil. My car does smoke when I first start it up, and it's smokes a little when I excelarate hard. I have had to add oil before. I'm going to take it to the guys that built it, and see what they say. Thanks for everyones input. Hopefully it's something they did.

what causes oil on spark plugs?
I've noticed that I have some oil on my spark plugs. My engine has 10,000 on it. Could this be from valves out of adjustment? I'm hoping?? ( I checked and the valves were out of adjustment). My car is not sluggish, it's just as quick as when I first put the motor in. I don't notice any smoke.

can someone repost the link??
anyone, anyone???

carb intake manifold
I was told by my engine builder that they consitantly got 8-10 more hp on the bench test, with the N36, on their modified L6 motors. Of coarse they bored my N36 out, along with the carbs. I assume they just flow better. I've only seen them on 260Z's.

Transporting an engine and transmission?
I picked up my motor at Rebello Racing with an old Geo Tracker. I took out the back seat, put in a small pallet folded up some old rebond carpet padding, then layed the motor on its side and forklifted the pallet into the back of the Tracker. Fit like a gloveROFL

can someone repost the link??
I remember seeing a link discribing how to convert a 1987-89 300ZX turbo LSD ( using parts off of a 280Z R200 ext) so as to fit it in a 240Z. I can't seem to find it under the search. I've only seen links showing pics of the LSD. I already have an R200 3.9 diff, but might be able to get my hands on the cluth type 300Z LSD. If someone knows of a link with pictures, DIRECTIONS ect., could that someone post it for me thanks.

Turbo vs Stroker? whats better?
Well, one of the reasons I went with the stroker from Rebello Racing was because thier shop was down the street from where I worked. Plus they were willing to work with a rookie ( me, I asked a lot of questions) The 240Z's and 510's in SCCA that were coming in first at Infineon all had Rebello engines. That was enough for me.

I test drove a 350Z

Turbo vs Stroker? whats better?
I have a 3.0L stroker, so call me a little bias, but damn does it sound mean. Everyone keeps looking at my motor for 2 more cylinders. Beyond how you drive it, take care of it, who built it, ect. Does one engine have any better longevity over the other???

Looking for this car
When the new 350Z came out, I saw that monster pile of **** in front of the Concord, Ca Nissan. Were they trying to tell us what they thought of the Z????

Dumb De Dumb Dumb
I had just put in my 275 hp. 3.0L into my 240Z. (big bucks).. I punched it at a light to show someone "this ain't stock!", when it felt like a cylinder went!!! I pulled over thinking the worst. I about passed out when I noticed that one of the spark plug has just popped off of the distributer.

valve-rocker gap adjust tips
I was told to measure at the valve. More accurate. So I measured .08 at the valve, when I checked the measurement at the cam it was .06. Can someone explain that???

exhaust question
I was told by my engine builder, that they recommend using a 3" exhaust with thier header. Right now I'm running a 2 1/2 exhaust. Is there anyone who makes a pre-formed 3" exhaust for the 240Z? Or is this going to be custom. How much of a difference would 1/2 of an inch make in performance. Any recommendations on this would be great . I'm running a 3.0L F54 block, N42 head, bored SU's, cam with about .490 lift.

240Z racing a Z06 Vette
The last I heard about his "accident", he crashed while doing a wheelie. Got road rash and a few broken bones ( ankle I think ), but lived to tell about it. There are pictures of the accident on his site. You can see him hobbling off of the freeway. INSANE!!! :stupid:

The Fast and The Furious
How can you make a movie about modified Japanese cars and not have a 240Z in it??? When it comes to modifying, I believe the 240Z has had more things done to it that any other car.

Anyone tried these yet?
What width are your rims?? I just aquired some 17" rims(7" in front, 8" in the rear) I was thinking about using those same tires you mentioned (avs es100). I'll let you know..

so confused about tranny's
I had a 280a five speed with 3.9 rear end once and it was almost the same as having a 4 speed with a 3.36 rear end( the 5th gear felt like 4th in the 4speed). The fifth gear in that 5 speed is a little too short for a 3.9 rear end. You only drop about 400 rpms shifting from 4th to 5th. But you do get a harder pull from the shorter 1st and 2nd gear. I think the best combo (what i have now) is the '280b' 5speed with a 3.9 rear end. I believe it has a taller 1st and 2nd ( putting them closer to third so as to not drop too much in rpms) with a taller 5th gear. Plus I've heard it is an all around stonger tranny. Here is a transmission calculator that I used. www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/
