  1. 280Z the gasket under the mirror(looks like yours has been painted on, has probably been squished too thin. Cut a couple of pieces of old inner tube to fit the metal backer that goes under the nut inside the door. Glue the rubber to the backer, and put it all back together, your fit should be wonderful. check car-parts.com for the side mirror-prolly pretty cheep, and still original! WIll
  2. I can't wait to see how you did! Will
  3. Pictures? Pictures? Pleaase! Will
  4. BREWSTER THE ROOSTER ** Whitey was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers called pullets and eight or ten roosters, whose job was to fertilize the eggs. Whitey kept records and any rooster that didn't perform went into the soup pot and was replaced. * That took an awful lot of Whitey's time so Whitey got a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. * Each bell had a different tone so Whitey could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. * Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells. * Whitey's favorite rooster was old Brewster, a very fine specimen he was, too. But on this particular morning Whitey noticed old Brewster's bell hadn't rung at all! * Whitey went to investigate. The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. * BUT, to Whitey's amazement, Brewster had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. * Whitey was so proud of Brewster, he entered him in the county fair... and Brewster became an overnight sensation among the judges. * The result... * The judges not only awarded Brewster the "No Bell Piece Prize" but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. * Clearly Brewster was a politician. Who else could figure out how to win two of the most politically biased awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populous and screwing them. *
  5. All in all, I would say that the car in question had been restored fairly recently, and that the seller either isn't aware of it, ot is trying to hide it. No pictures of where the cars really rust, rust bubbles in the rear fender, parts that are close, but were not original to the car, a few mistakes in reassembly. Still A pretty car, but I would want to inspect it in person, too many little inconsistancies, and A great level of worksmanship that does not extend everywhere(over spray, painted hoses among clean originals, and new. I don't think the up keep has been done to the same standard as the majority of the work! Either the car is third hand, or the second hand found a major flaw that kept him from paying for the same quality of worksmanship. 26th, my '72 kept her habit hidden, must have been a high mainteneace recreational user. I found evidence under the undercoating, and in the front suspension mountings. That's OK, she has had time to dry out, and will be ready to embrace the rest of her life as therapy continues!! Will
  6. Don't disconnect it, put a 10k pot on the temp sensor so you can fine tune the enrichment-other wise on a hot day you are likely to have thick black smoke from your exhaust and probably foulled plugs-with the pot, you can adjust the smoke and fouling out. Keep the car in a good state of tune. (Conventional NGK plugs, wires, c&R, valves and filters) Upgrade your coil with that from a Maxima-I'll try to find the year-hotter coil, cheep from the u-pull-it. Run a bottle of RPX through the car occasionally as per its instruction to clean the injectors. Once the car is tuned up and the coil is hotter, play with some of the aftermarket stuff-you may be very supprise dat what a good tuneup can do! Will
  7. Carl, Nothing much done in the last five days-out of town guests, my wife and I are both on vacation-The babys room must be ready-all mean I am relegated to other service-and the Z waits-probably until this Saturday(9/18). The deadline looms closer every day that something comes between me and achieving it.... Will Hmmmm....At least I have a HOT, NAKED 33 year old patiently waiting for me to "work on" her, 26th is into those "older" situations-even though he has twins...
  8. Hmmmm....Twins in your garage-I'd rather be you than have an egg free face! Will
  9. My turn! Paint on the front windshield gasket! Paint damage from tape on side marker gaskets! Painted carb fuel hose! painted upper hood seal! Rust bubbles on the pass rear fender! Will
  10. Wow! Carl, is that a JDM bumper, or a CDM (Carls Domestic Market )? Did you "modify " it yourself? Will P.S. if there is a problem finding the glass, reasonable in CA, I will see what i can find.
  11. Uh, I think Carl needs a hood worse, On the window, if Carl is being difficult, check car-parts.com They had several listed in Ca. but I am not familiar enough with the local geography to know how close they are to you. Will
  12. My 2400 valve cover is levitating and spinning end over end...faster, faster, there is blood-no wait, it's just motor oil. The 70-75 door glass assemblies are still interchangeable, and the 77 and 78s are not in the group! Will
  13. The glass assembly is the same 70-75, but in 77,78 the metal frame at the bottom is different. I think the glass is actually still the same, but to be sure I would take the old frame to the yard and swap them there. Will
  14. You guys have a place reserved in heaven for this thread-if only it had saved me from making a mushroom out of the treaded end of a spindle pin-I will post a picture of what happens when frustration takes over and follows the "get a bigger hammer" routine tomorrow! Will
  15. Ok, not the Kings english or something else from Cambridge, but hopefully funny to those that get it! WIll
  16. Alphadog, Now that is evidently something from way beyond the black stump. Seems you may need a go at blowin in the bag, maybe we should have your esky checked for a slab before you fall off your face. Having a lend on Tomohawk like that , that's just the thing for finnishing the day with the wobbly boot on! He's just a fair dinkum dag after all. No worries! Will
  17. You got my attention! Pictures would be nice! Will

  22. 10 minutes with some Marine Clean, warm water, and a brush. 30 minutes with a roll of tape, a good home media blaster, and 30lbs of crushed walnut shells. 5 minutes wiping down with a pint of laquer thinner and 3 clean rags. 15 minutes with a small bottle of GlistenPC and a good paint brush. Will
  23. I followed matrias advice before he gave it, it is good! Less than $150 shipped! Several sellers putting them on ebay-shop it for the lowest total price. There are a couple of threads here covering installation-I did not read their advice before trying to remove the old bushings on my own and I should have. BambiKiller and Beandip have all of the 411 and have put it in the archives. There is a video of an installation available for sale from ZTherapy. There is also a very special tool you should buy, beg to borrow, or steal before you beat and heat the crap out of a doohickey called a spindle pin, and find it still won't budge! Will
  24. Spray the metal ready on a papertowel. and it will stick like-well, a spitwad. Occasionally take it loose to agitate the surface with a wire brush, replace the paper towel, and redampen it. You will find this works suprisingly well! Will
  25. Good point Gary, that hadn't thumped my noggin! Check it out Bill, before you get too much work done and too many parts moved! Will
