Thanks Gavin & Blue , Looking at these cars, I found more beautiful and more rare car , more people want it , then need more money. The silver TOYOTA 2000 GT is a breath taking looks , I understand it costs 10 times more of Z432’s . Design, and quality of each parts , big difference between the two of them . However driving performance and feelings , Z432 is much better and more exciting than TOYOTA 2000 GT . S20 Engine was made by Prince engineers with totally new components while TOYOTA 3M was given a DOHC head by YAMAHA , joined with a regular M series SOHC engine block . One of the special feature of S20 is , the engine block has side bolts to secure the crankshaft cap , we think it is a racing featuring .Even superior to some Ferrari engines . But , looks comes first , other things next in generally speaking. Oh , my true dream car is this , Alfaromeo Tipo 33. Kats

It was a really interesting experience with a small Ferrari , especially Dino is my dream car . What makes a Dino 246 GT currently being so expensive than a Z432 ? Both cars have a DOHC , 5 speed , LSD , rack and pinion , electric ignition system . Dino is superior to Z432 having disc brakes all around , Z432 is superior to Dino having four valves per cylinder . I hope someone persuade me to prevent selling my all Zs to buy a Dino 246 ? Kats

Yesterday, my car had an air conditioning compressor replacement. I found big noise from it , and realized the bottom of it was very dirty covered by oil stains. I think maybe the noise was coming from the clutch. The York compressor is R209 type which is big enough to supply cold air in a Z . Kats

Hi Gavin , congratulations on your wedding! Also very interesting to read about Evie , your wife must be very helpful for your Zs .You are lucky man . When I married my wife asked me not to bring my 240Z with me to Japan after the graduation of basic flight training in California. I had no space in Japan so I returned the car to the previous and original owner just the day before of my returning to Japan . One of the picture , I found the date 19th June 1995 , I remember the day I visited the owner and so excited to seeing the real one , sitting in front of me . I decided to buy it for my birthday (18th June) for 1500 USD ,but I did not have that amount, he allowed me to pay 300 per month! I spend so much wonderful time with this car . This light blue 240Z was the very first car which I owned in my life . Now my wife seems acceptable for my spending time with my ?Zs Kats

Danny , I have read the thread , I was so impressed by the modified engine, what a wonderful work . A KA head on a L block ,I have never seen before . I have seen a RB20E (SOHC) on a L series block , this is very nice too , here is a link this is a cross flow head , so it is a good candidate for LY engine tribute . Kats

Danny , Sounds awesome!! I love the tunnel with opening the windows, your RB20 is very well tuned , response is sharp and quick . . What kind of ignition system do you use ? LHD S30 with DOHC , I have been thinking doing it but not any progress so far . You did it already ! I have heard RB series engines were only applied for RHD destinations due to the issue of the exhaust fabrication. Is it true ? Only Japan , UK , Australia, New Zealand, etc ? Kats

Hi Danny , wow !!! You have done tremendous work on your Z ! What a beautifully done , and you said you put R192 , MK 63 , and even 10 x1000 Tach, I noticed Nissan badge too , I can see how hard that you have been collecting them . And you cleared the issue of the exhaust manifold, it must be a hand made , very nice . RB 20 DET is 4 valves per cylinder ,right ? So your car is 4 valves, 3 carbs , 2 camshafts , like a Z432 . The difference between RB20 and S20 is a bore x stroke, 78 x 69.7 RB20 ( L20 and VG20 too) 82 x 62.8 S20 And yours are way powerful than stock S20 ! I would like to see your car’s movie . Hi blue and Gavin , thank you for the wonderful stories , you have same experience with me ! Good question about the smell of the car , I am sure my ZG , spending its whole life in Japan has a completely different smell . I am afraid to say this , my ZG has a kind of MOLD of smelling. Probably, this is a normal Japanese old car ? So , S30 car was made in Japan , but it became an American if a car was exported to the US . It must be true for every car , for every country around the world. I have heard, people visit Japan can smell Soy sauce when they arrived at the Tokyo airport. I have never feel like that , maybe because I am Japanese . On the other hand , every time My family trip to the US by US airline carriers , we become so excited when we walk through the boarding bridge in the Tokyo airport , we smell USA already! Kats

This is the picture when my ZG was on sale , ( numbers are hidden by the seller , this is usual thing in Japan ) you see the Kanji character “ SHINAGAWA “ that is the car registered in Tokyo Shinagawa district . 34 is showing the car was registered a long time ago , and 3 means over 2000 cc engine. Now we have 332 etc for the car like that . And there is a white ring with a sealed cap for the license plate, this is also proving the car was registered a long time ago. If I was a resident in Shinagawa area , my ZG could have the license plate as it is . That is very sad for me and the car , but I did not have any idea to remain the plate with the car , I had to registered it in my district. Kats

Thanks blue , I must add one thing , each car has each smell . I always feel “ USA “ every time I get in the orange 240Z. And I really like the smell . I can not say well enough, what makes me feel like that ? Maybe you are not realized , but I am sure there is a certain smell in the US . Each time I opened the box bought eBay USA, , there was a smell which I like . It brings back good memories to me when I was at a flight training in Bakersfield California . Supermarket , warehous , airport , everywhere. Kats

Badges are mint in the orange 240Z . Center console , dashboard , heater panel are same mint condition. ( both cars have replacement door weather strip) Kats

Bits and pieces comparison , tail gate inner rubber and hood upper rubber , both cars still have originals , just amazing . Tail light exterior panel , both are non repainted , but there is a difference of aging , fading for each. Kats

Hi , two cars comparison. Both are 1972 model , and survivor, . They are not restored , but have had been well taken care of from original owners. As you guess and see both , the orange is nicer than the maroon . California climate? Maybe , but this maroon is keeping very good condition as spending its life in humid Japan .I realized we can keep our car like this if we take care of our car very well even in Asian countries. I think the difference came from “ history “ of each cars. The maroon had some scratches on the left hand front fender and door , and little bit under the left hand rear bumper , near the muffler. The orange did not have such injuries. This makes maroon looks inferior of its exterior condition to the orange, the repair job at that time ( 1973 and after ) was not good . But I like its history, then It makes me feel difficult to decide remain as it is , or paint it like new with whole new parts which I have stored. Also the orange still has complete carpet and jute set , even each one has a paper stamp of quality inspection. The maroon is missing two front jute set , all the others are remained with the car . Tools , wheels, hubcaps , and speakers , seats , these hard to keep things with cars are original. I can compare one by one , the one has spent its life in the US , and the other one has spent its life in Japan . Some parts are looked identical of its condition, but some parts are not the same , it is fun to guess what made these parts looked different. And both have a lot of receipts from the begging ! Kats
