Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Today I show you a new old stock 5speed gear box “ FS5C71B” which is used for Z432 , Fairlady 240Z series and Skyline GTR . ( this one is specifically derived to Skyline GTR , as a part number 32010-R5530) After Jan 1972, (for example HS30-10635 And after ) FS5C71B was applied, but gear ratio was different from other model. Those three types of cars has very nice ratio. 1st 2.906 (3.321 std) 2nd 1.902 (2.077 std) 3rd 1.308 (same std) 4th 1.000 (same std) 5th 0.864 (same std) Rev 3.382 (same std) I have a question about export Zs which have 5 speed , are they have this special gear box ? I am thinking using this for my 240ZG , I will replace S20 front section to its original L24 one then I will sell the S20 front section (so many S20 owners in Japan want to swap FS5C71A to FS5C71B, because it’s good feeling and plenty of parts availability) Also I need to have a spline type propeller shaft (my ZG has a flange type as an original , soon after they went spline type ) this one will not be difficult to find because so many S30 models used this one since September 1971 (I mean longer one for the diff mount changed) Or should I stick with its original gear box and propeller shaft ? Everything on this car is original down to exhaust tip with its build date stamp. Hmmm.. Alan , please let us know. Kats

I like the shape of Central 20 wheels , sometimes it pops up on Yahoo auction Japan, yes I think it is rare to see. Most of them is gold spokes with a silver outer rim. Kats

Let’s find built date of jack and tire stopper
My friend Mr. Shimoura has a super clean genuine Fairlady 240 ZG (9/ 1972), we checked her pockets and there you go, matching numbers jack and choke ! You can see R. I. G. on the jack, “1972 September 7th “ And 2. I. on the choke, “1972. September “ Please note the seat, from September 1972, interior materials were changed to “ flame retardant” , this made the seats looked slightly different from former design and shape. Mustache bar bushings
Hi Acemon, I am thinking same thing, I hope some one can recycle rubber bushing, same for all the mounting parts like for engine , transmission, rear final drive etc. Sorry for uploading many pictures, they are my questions and studies. My 1970 Z432 and 240Z, both have later style upper and lower stopper for the bushing, this is not original but I took this solution because it worked quite well for deleting noises and vibrations. I look it carefully, it is close to the color of the magnesium wheel. If it is flat , not glossy, will be much closer I think. Drift is always welcomed ! Kats

Hi Jason, this would be more suitable for your wheels, color of the magnesium wheel. The one which has a part number sticker is an NOS, has never been exposed under the sun . Courtesy our club member, Mr. Fukuda Kats

JDMjunkies , thank you for sharing very interesting materials, let me see , I am having fun to read all of them . Blue, more home work about temporary license plate, I have heard red rectangular plate is for car company, they can use it to any cars in their car. While private drivers can have one temporary plate for one car.In that case , a Red diagonal line on the plate. I will show some from some magazines in Japan. Mr. K loved silver , was it reason for two test cars in the US were silver? Design team brought a silver full scale model to a final presentation to the Nissan executives . Kats

Hi Steve , I am amazed all of your fantastic work. Can I buy the seat bottom webbing from somewhere? Yours is just like the original, cream white rubber strips associated with olive green cloth pieces. Just wonderful! Kats

Let’s find built date of jack and tire stopper
How about these , I think Tire stopper, 0. G. 1970. July 2 E 1972 May ‘C ‘ is stamped, however ‘ G ‘ is engraved, so the change would be happened around April to June 1970 . Jack , Q. F. V. 1971. June 21st R E DD 1972 May 30th Somewhere around 1971 , jack has changed its comportments . Early one has unique contact piece and only two rivers applied to hold the basement while later ones has four . If this is true, ‘ A’ means 1954 . At that time Nissan was making Datsun sports DC-3 . I think this is one of the easiest way to guess when my car had left from the factory. And it is nice to have ‘ munching numbers ‘ those factory items. How about yours ? Kats

Let’s find built date of jack and tire stopper
Hi, have we discussed about this before? I want to know the answer of these coding. Each jack has alphabetical code, I have a jack , ’ P. C. E ‘ Could it be made 1970 March 5th ? This jack is in my 03/1970 240Z. And olso the car has ‘ 0. C ‘ stamp on a tire stoppers , I guess it could be 1970. March. I saw a 09/1970 car has ‘ P H Y’ , this means 1970 August 25th ? This car still has a paper list in a tool bag, with a stamp ‘ 45 9 10’ ( 1970 September 10th) And I found some 1969 cars have ‘ O ‘ for their jack, O I A , 1969 September 1st ? O G S , 1969 June 19th ? These cars have these on their tire stopper s. ‘ 9. I ‘ 1969 September? ’ 9 K ‘ 1969 November? Kats

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Hi Gavin, I too have bought many parts from Steve , before knowing he is a member here ! I am always so satisfied with his products. I have a question to Steve . Can you make this and if you can make it , how many orders does it require and, how much it is going to be ? This cover and tray is for Japanese S30, I would say probably 99% of cars are missing them. I would think owners would have been happy if they were available. A metal flame is replicated by a shop in Japan. Exports S30s do not have a problem because you are making assorted parts. This is a quite bigger parts considering your products line up. But if you do not have problem making this big , I would ask such as an early wiper motor plastic cover , a Z432 cabin air intake plastic duct , etc . Kats

Thank you nix240z, I am glad that some are already started to working on, and also most of others have potential to be made . My friends in Japan are very interested in your products, but most of them usually hesitate to contact and have fear for paying online payment. Even they are worried about shipping from the overseas. Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Hi, seeing those conversations of 'reploduction' here and there, now something is coming up in my mind. I am having fun to list parts which are NLA from Nissan and other venders today, not only that , I picked those parts up which are visible at a car show and are very likely missing or deteriorated through the years. I do not want nix240z to feel that he is obligated to do it. Do not take it seriously, just I want to show what is in my mind. 1/battery cable clip 2/fuse cover 3/fuse cover stopper teeth 4/flasher knob 5/early spare tyre holder rubber cover 6/luggage belt clip 7/door dove tail original style 8/ 1971 and later shoulder belt clip 9/seat belts clip 10/early shoulder belt anchor washers 11/early tyre stopper rubber band 12/ early seat bottom side cover Kats

Antenna Rebuild / Restore
I have got a reply from HARADA , but it seems to me almost impossible to get a replacement mast. They said first of all , they can not supply parts to individual customers, they can do only for car manufacturers like Nissan. They said ‘maybe we can react / move on if Nissan place an order to us ,but Nissan has to specify the parts number of the mast and tell it to us when placing an order’ So, I now think to make it happen, #1 many people want the mast ( hundreds or thousands?) #2 Nissan thinks replacement mast will make a profit #3 We and/or Nissan know the part number of the mast #4 HARADA still have tools and materials to make it It’s just a long way to the mast if you wanna Rock and roll . I visited my mother’s house , the outside was minus 10 degrees Celsius, I decided not operate the antenna. Kats By the way, were there quite a number of people who tried to bend the antenna ? A gas lid too, why Fairlady Zs have key- locked lid ? Was Japan unsafe at that time or Fairlady Zs were too good for those people and they were jealous so badly ?
