New discovery; the story of solid/chrome Z emblem
Hi , this is an old thread but I really like it, today I would like to add one solid metal “Fairlady Z “ quarter emblem for left wing . It was suddenly appeared on Yahoo Japan Auction last week , I am so glad that I won . Finally I have got a set of solid metal quarter emblem for my Z432 ( 01/1970) , this set surely deserves for my Z432 . Interesting thing is , all of my solid metal emblems came to me from each different cars . A set of quarter solid metal emblems for Datsun 240Z , and that set of for Fairlady Z , there might be 4 early cars which provided them for me . When I have got the first one , it was more than 10 years ago and now , my collections are complete. Like Chris said , I am thinking the same for the early 240Z would have the chrome Z metal emblem up to some 1000 to 2000 cars . ( solid one would be first 500 or less or more ?? ) This time I will see the good example, as I have bought HLS30-02146 which has white Z metal (of course hollowed) emblems . If this is true for the car , we will be getting much closer to the fact . Kats

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
A Safari Gold Z432 with my Fairlady 240ZG . This Z432 belongs to Mr. Uekubo , he did restoration work by his own hands , metal work , paint work , and mechanical components refurbish work , interior trimming work , and S20 rebuilding. It took him almost 20 years to complete when he finally took the car on the road in 2021 . He was cleaver to do it, he had been collecting parts from local Nissan since late 1990’s . So most of parts which were applied in this car are NOS parts from Nissan , just amazing. Funny thing is, he found this Z432 in a vegetable field covered by lots of dart and soil .If he didn’t decide to take it, this Z432 would have been returned to the earth. He chose a set of replica “ Nissan works rally wheel “ . Looks great in his car . Kats FullSizeRender.mov

Hi Gavin ,more than 50 years later , still Z cars are shipped to overseas customers like this picture. It is just wonderful. I really love this blue 903 , so I am thinking painting my #2156 to this 903 finally. Next week , #2146 will be arriving at my home , it is going to be the best guidance for making color paint of 903 . Kats

Hi, I also like the front end of the orange . Not only the front end , it is also lowered 20mm , served with bigger wheels and over fenders . This orange car won “ best concept car “ award of the show . This prize surely pushes Nissan to make this body kit for customers in next year . Kats

Bingo ! There are also Hakosuka , Ken meri , etc ..And it is so tasty . This rice cracker is a popular Japanese snack “ Kaki no Tane “ ( persimmon seeds) . It is soy sauce flavored and it is a perfect combination with peanuts . Kats

Hi Gavin, yes I know your 904 white/ blue interior, Automatic transmission car and I have just looked at its pictures yesterday. I wish my new blue car was mint like yours , I need to do lots of work , first of all , it needs to be a running condition. It lost a transmission! What happened? I have got some interesting story about my new blue car , I will tell you about it later in this thread. 920 gold will be nice for the new Z , I am feeling the new Z will look great in classic colors , hope Nissan will take my opinion! Alan , me too disappointing. Nissan , please don’t say “ this Customized proto is going to be limited edition “ . Originally, Z is for everyone, it shouldn’t be changed. The yellow “ Proto spec “ is limited edition which is only 240 cars in Japan . I think that is OK because people can get same body style , same body color , same engine in a standard version as the “Proto spec “ . An interview at the show , Tamura san said “ we will not sell this Customized Proto if we can’t see strong demand. We need positive reaction to make this happen “ I think Tamura san was very sure people’s reaction before the show . And yes I have heard so many voices at the show “ I want the orange ! “ Kats

Hi Alan, thanks for the input, I agree with you. Some people say orange color combination came from 911 GT3 RS , or American sports car some years ago. But this orange new Z is inspired by yes , Z432-R . I talked with Takeuchi san ( owner of the Z432-R in the picture) yesterday, I asked Takeuchi san if he knew well before the new Z would be inspired his Z432-R . He said “No ! That is why I was surprised at the show , I like it ! “ Takeuchi san pointed out the orange new Z has the black side graphic stripe, but it is inverted from his Z432-R ‘s side stripe, the thin stripe went bottom for the orange new Z . Thanks siteunseen ! The orange was surely the star of the show , it was surrounded by so many people. The rumors I have heard is , Nissan will not sell a car like this but they will sell those body kit as dealer optional parts for customers who buy the new Z . Maybe Nismo version will have another different body kit and performance . Kats

Hi Gavin, I have same opinions with you about the current Z34 . But this time I like the way how design team “ correct “ the body line around rear fenders . I would say I want more S30 look for the front , but I now become to like it especially the orange car . Hope you will see the new Z in your local Nissan soon. Kats

Hi everyone, thank you so much for kind words for me . I am back here and I am so happy that I can communicate with you again . So many things has been changed since I posted last time , I hope everyone’s safe in this Covid-19. I don’t know what to say , I don’t know where to start to tell you about . Anyway I am doing good , I thank my friends here to recover my energy of life .Even when I was depressed badly, I didn’t forget about all of you . I was hoping I would bring a news when I become normal. Yesterday I felt for the first time in my life that I want to buy a new Z other than my S30s . But , I don’t have enough money because last month I spent my money for the 240Z which is just 10 cars older than my US blue 240Z . It is going to arrive at Yokohama next week by boat , I will let you know the details when I have got the car in my hands. Very rough condition, but I can’t ignore it because of the chassis number and blue exterior and blue interior like my HLS30-02156 . Kats

Test report of "HLS30Q (Z Europe model) countermeasures High speed stability "
Thank you so much, I see “ U” in the Modelo , that is a kind of rare thing. The officer made a mistake about stamping U instead of Q , or just forgetting to stamp “ Q “ for it . And I have never seen the import data of Portuguese 240 Z and others , that is fascinating! Your 240Z is HLS30Q , confirmed. Kats

Test report of "HLS30Q (Z Europe model) countermeasures High speed stability "
Hi Mário , thank you so much for joining here ! One day I will visit Portugal to see your beautiful car! Alan explains perfectly, “ U “ means USA and Canada and some .And first of all, the test report had indicated “ HLS30Q (Europe version) “ as a title , so it is very clear about your car is HLS30Q . Here is a good example for it . Kats

Mint '71 240Z - More Fun Coming to BaT
Hi , I am still feeling the driver’s seat looked different from the passenger’s seat . This picture makes me wonder if our seats would have changed its shape in 1970 , the BAT green car seems to have the seat just like this black seat in the driver’s seat maybe produced in later 1970 . The seat back has different shape than the earlier one especially around the shoulder area . Kats

240Z D hubcaps ... reproduction?
Thanks Steve , the pictures were taken almost ten years ago, time flies . The caps which you are thinking about to obtain look original , I hope you will have originals for your car . By the way , I couldn’t stop myself driving with the old Super speed radial -20 , but not with the early less tab ( the less tab caps were given from Mr. Matsuo , so display only! ) One day I had a flat tyre one of the rear tyre ! That was a few months after I drove the tyre .I think ARMOR ALL was not good for the old rubber . I was thinking it was good for keeping the surface in nice condition and protect the rubber from the sun shine. But the results was not what I expected, maybe the liquid sink into the rubber ‘s tiny tiny cracks then it makes the rubber break apart easily. If I had not put ARMOR ALL on the tyre I would have a little more longer life on the old tyre , would not have I ? Anyway no one seems to ride on a 40 years old tyre , so I don’t need to think about it . I never ever do it again !! Kats

240Z D hubcaps ... reproduction?
Hi ,I missed this thread. The fake is a nice try , but it has to be described as "reproduction " . Here are my D caps comparison I believe I posted some where in this forum before. Later more teeth type is a bit darker gray but it is so subtle . Kats

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Thanks Gavin , you’re correct , gauges must be replaced at some point in its life . About the ash tray , yes it has a small handle which is molded in ONE PIECE of the lid , early one is a separate piece from the lid . But I am looking for the answer when it changed. Do you see the steering wheel is not for the Japanese domestic model ? Fairlady Z series has much shorter spokes for the steering wheel , maybe design team consider average Japanese people have short leg , then positioned much forward than the westerners. So the steering wheel must be flat with the horn pad . And horn pad itself has a trumpet, that is from the summer of 1973 , the Japanese regulation required all cars must have the trumpet mark on the horn pad . Also the dash board is later type , and the ignition key looks later type . Here is my 01/1970 Z432 , you will see the difference of the steering wheel. Kats
