One "bad" fuel injector??
When I first bought my 280 my mechanic bent those arms on the tps trying to get the stumble out. He'd twist the throttle rod and look then bend it some. Turns out it was the coolant sensor. I put a potentiometer in line and it runs great now. Fwiw

Can't tell if I have the valve keepers in right!
I'll tell you the mistake I made the first couple of tries. The motors tilt to the passenger's side and I had the lobe pointing straight up when I set mine. Now I have a Sharpie line drawn down the center of the cam towers. I bought a 17mm wrench for the locknut now, I'd been using a 17mm crowfoot socket. I still need the crowfoot on one or two but the 17mm wrench in my right hand and leave the 14mm on the adjusting nut with my left hand makes tightening them down alot easier. For what that's worth.

Replacement tar mat
My orange 240 has very little rust overall but due to a leaky valve at the heater core inlet and outlet it had seeped coolant for no telling how long and thanks to that jute my passenger floor board will need replacing someday. For the time being I've got a "NO FAT CHICKS" sticker on the passenger door. @jalexquijano here's the thread on the gray spray paint for the rear finisher you were asking about.

TOPY Wheel, Tail-light Finisher, and "D" Wheel Cover Colour
Here's as close to the color that I've seen. I used Dupli-Color Graphite but it is more metallic than this Dupli-Color Dark Shadow Gray. I think this is more like the "matchbox striker" I've always heard that gray called. I'm tempted to redo mine someday with this color but for now it looks okay with my Graphite Rewinds.

Have you been watching bringatrailer.com, they have some Zs.

Try a cold valve adjustment first. #6 might have a loose valve that's not sealing and loosing compression.

71 and 73 240 values
That's a tough guess without pictures. I think I would take the carbs and front bumper off the 71 & put them on the 73. I've only been around one 73 and those are the two things I didn't like. Are you wanting to drive one or make money? Sale them both and get what you want.

You should squirt some oil in the plug holes for sure. About a teaspoon' s worth. It'll give you a better seal and show a truer reading. You should also cover the cam and valvetrain with oil. My tester has a Schrader valve that could leak. Also has an oring a the top of the threads that could be missing? Does it have teflon tape on the gauge to the hose?

Hello from across the pond! Searching for a 240z
ZCON 2016 is coming up soon. If you could get someone attending to look for cars for sale and set you up with some contact information that would be good. There was a few nice ones for sale at 2015's event. Offer a finders fee.

The neg side of the battery goes to the top starter bolt. The positive goes to the solenoid post that's closet to the battery, not the closet to the block with the visable copper braided ground wire. The remote starter goes on the positive post of the solenoid. The other clips onto spade plug in the middle, pull the small wire off first though.

Plugging the heater core
Somebody was talking about coolant gushing out of the hose in their engine bay, can't remember the thread. Here's what you do with some rubber, chair leg stoppers would be the best, I think Mr Jim Arnett showed me that on a plug for the air filter. I used pieces of hose before I read his suggestion. Passenger's footwell on the left or the right side of the transmission hump.

'70 240Z MSD No Spark 280z Distributor, E12-80, 280Z Tach
Figure up the rebuild parts price and your time then consider getting a Cardone reman from amazon.com. I bought one for $100. Make sure and enter a '79 280ZX, I think it's a D6K8? There's an Excel spread sheet with all the different years and specs, Walter Moore put it together I believe. I can post it later or you can google Zx distributor curves spreadsheet.

'70 240Z MSD No Spark 280z Distributor, E12-80, 280Z Tach
The ZX distributor needs 1.3 OHMs primary resistance according to the FSM. Those Blaster 2s only have .7 OHM. I don't know what affect that will have but that's the reason I chose a Fireball PS20. They are 1.5 OHMs. Zed Head can explain it.

Mine had those same hard water deposits. They were especially bad at the rear, between 6 & 5. I used an ice pick and a straightened out clothes hanger to knock as much loose as I could. Did you remove the block drain on the driver's side? I think that's where you'll get the best flow for cleaning the block. I would crank my air compressor as high as I could and shoot air through the heads passages through that heater core outlet. The heads don't crud up as bad as the block, they don't hold water like the block does and they are aluminium. You should make sure and not get the head's passages stopped up with the stuff from the block. That plug at the rear of the head should be okay, I'd leave that one alone unless it looks to be in bad shape. I've never changed one of those.

sweatys rebuild
I've found Scotch brand at Lowes hardware to be the best around here. It's not too stretchy when you go to tear it after wrapping. It cost a good bit more than the "logs" of tape but it comes in it's own plastic case which I use for electrical crimp fittings in my bag of electrical stuff.

My Dad called those a "deuce and a half" when he was in the National Guard and I was in diapers. It's an M35 2.5 ton cargo truck according to google.com. Check out that driveshaft and differential in the bed of it. I love looking at pictures! Curious to a fault usually but sometimes I learn stuff. Never heard of a Warner Swasey Hopto excavator my whole life, now I read where they help build alot of "Ike's Interstates" in the 50s.

I used these from O'reilly's, Sealed Power #381-8027. They had them the next morning from one of their HUB stores. I used the proper size socket, one that fits tightest inside the plug, with thick tape on the edges of the socket to keep from leaving scratches. The big one in the end I used a piece of wood and hammer to get it down flush with the block then tapped it the rest of the way with a hammer and 1/4" extension around the edges. They go down past the block about a 1/16" to the end of the chamfer. $11.49 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/SPO0/3818027/02268.oap

View inside Fuel tank, previous coating?
I think it'll be fine too. Let it sit in the sun and bake a few days then slide it under a table or something for a couple of weeks. If you'll put a clear filter right out of the tank they'll catch whatever breaks loose then replace them, cheap and easy to do.

1971 240Z rebuild
Egg on face! I never saw this picture. I don't think this will affect the way the car runs, only how hot it runs at. You need to put a clear gas filter coming out of the tank and see if it's crudded up. Fram G2 works better on a 240 in my opinion. Then adjust the carburetors the best you can. That's a whole other can of worms I don't feel like opening right now, it's Friday night and I gotta go daintcin'. Read through this thread,
