Emission removal
PrOxLaMuSA has a good write up on the process. That stainless line is most likely the coolant line that runs through the carbs for heat. I deleted mine, it's never cold here. There's a lot of discussion on it. Google is great but you have to always add "classiczcars.com" at the end of your keywords for the best results from here.

These work good for drinking and driving non power steering manual transmission cars. Also pocket pool.

Curious about the bungee cord from the brake pedal to the steering wheel. What's the purpose of that? Thanks. Cliff

Steering Effort Differences Between Years
Not an "obvious" answer it seems? You'll figure it out, I'm sure of that. 8^)

engine/trans help
I've had the same problem. Getting the weight distribution even is a pita. See if you can get a jack on the tranny and get the weight off then some stiff putty knives or chisels or tire spoons or screwdrivers and work around it till it pops loose. Good luck.

I'm sorry but I can't answer. Although I've found an older thread you might find useful. Best of luck...

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Those were a dime a dozen back in the day. I beat the hell out of a few myself. They were good gas mileage cars during the gas shortage days of the '70s. The fastest they would go is 122 mph, free falling dropped from a helicopter. Knock yourself out... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datsun_210

Here's a shot of my '72 with all the stuff plugged on the balance tube. What air filter housing do you have? That has a few connections you'll need to figure out as well. Before... After... Here's one from the passenger's side...

What he said! All good advice. The best $20 I've spent on a Datsun is this book, I'd never built a car motor before but the way he wrote it and the pictures plus some helpful tips and tricks I built the first one by myself. Didn't have to call Dad, I think he was a little disappointed too. Anyway it fired right up and runs great. https://www.amazon.com/Rebuild-Your-Nissan-Datsun-Engine/dp/1931128030

I went with a Xenon front air dam and the smaller bumper on my 280. Looks good to me. Before and after terrible pics but it's all I have right now.

Steering Effort Differences Between Years
I have thought the same, Captain. Having both I think it's the weight difference. The steering wheel on my 240 also seems bigger which makes turning seem easier. My $.02.

Finally Got My Garage Mahal!!!
My Exmark going backwards is faster than my Dad's Scag going forward. It makes him so mad! I have a mulching deck on mine and just finished cleaning my yard. It looks like a vacuumed yard and as you say it IS fun. Ahh man that is a beautiful place you have.

Oil Sump OEM Gasket
If you only knew me a little bit... Yeah I'm a character on here but your best friend when you need one in the real world. I played on my high school golf team because I don't care for team sports. Like Ricky Bobby says, "if YOU ain't first you're last". Cliff

Rust Advice 78 280z
I'm looking at the invoice from 11/20/2014. $360 each $720 minus 15% cyber monday $108, $62.94 S/H for a total of $674.94. I would call and see if he would still do the 15% off. Super nice guy, Dave if I remember right.

Rust Advice 78 280z
I bought mine from futofabmcom on a black friday or cyber monday?? sale. That was the best deal for me as I live on the east side and shipping was cheaper than the left coast guys at MSA. The front bumper is an easy swap, the rear is a PITA according to what I've been told read on here. Eurodat is the man you need to google. Try "240 bumpers 280 conversion eurodat classiczcars.com" Good luck.

Oil Sump OEM Gasket
that's what I bought from my local dealership, 11121-E3001. I paid $14.76 tax and all on 09/16/2015. Works great, no leaks just be really careful torquing it down. Not much at all, I had to use an inch pound torque wrench. Oh yeah, I used golf tees in all the pan's holes to keep it lined up while placing the small bolts in. FYI
