L24 compression question
A picture of the cam lobes where the spray bar fell off is what I want to see. 80-90 mph runs without oil, whoof!

Upper oil pan?
Spread out some newspaper where you park it at night. Drive it then park it and look the next morning for oil spots on the paper. Look straight up from there and hopefully you'll see where it's coming from. Probably leaking from the oil pump at the front of the motor??? Never heard of an upper oil pan.

280z from 1977: startup and idle problem
Another thing that happened to my '77 was the EGR tube came loose where it connects to the intake manifold. It rotted a golf ball size hole in the soft aluminum. Get a handheld mirror and look under the EGR connections. It was a huge vacuum leak that I chased for a month after buying the car. Nissan had a recall for it to. If it was dealer fixed there will be a sticker on the underside of the hood, passenger's side by the hood vent. Mine had the dealer fix, a circle clip on the connection, but somehow rotted out anyway.

Where does this lead to?
Top goes here in the middle.

Where does this lead to?
Uh oh, just looked at my car. The top one connects to the middle nipple on the back plate of the air filter housing. The bottom one connects to the PCV nipple.

Exhaust gasket material for flange gaskets?
I've bought all my exhaust stuff from MSA and the gaskets that go in between the different pieces look to be paper but have aluminum inside, in between the paper. If your's are stiff they're probably made this way. You should be able to tell if they're just paper though, they'll be easy to bend. Most muffler shops could sale you a good gasket if it's just paper.

Excessive fuel smell- please help
The float bowl overflow bung should have hoses connected to the air filters. You could test that with some clear water bottles and hoses. Zip-tie the bottles to something that won't get too hot and run the hose down into them. Take it for a spirited drive and see if any fuel has accumulated in the bottles. If raw fuel is coming out you're looking at a potential fire. If they're newly rebuilt your floats may be keeping the bowls completely full and fuel is sloshing out the bungs. Where your thumb is here, Here's the way the factory air filter does them,

Coolant temperature
Mine stays on the right leg of the "M" all the time. I've measured the coolant temp with a digital thermometer, 175F at idle with no air flow other than the fan.

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
It had a heat stroke. We're close to '70s then '50s after the sun goes down. Life is good in Alabama as long as Air Force One stays the hell away.

Tail Gaters...
Another member that puts it out there. I lost my license in '89 and had it reinstated in '99. Lifelong poor decision maker but man was it fun! I'm in recovery now thanks to a dog. Can't take care of them locked up in jail. Edit, "recovery" from drinking and driving. I'm sipping and eating a Bloody Mary right now. Whiskey Willie's, straight from Orange Beach!

Tail Gaters...
Alabama has the "year of manufacturer" law for tags. I have a tag from 1972 on my '72 240. Pretty cool I think. I remember those SS Monte Carlos, blue or white that's it for color. Pretty quick to but then Buick came out with the turbo Regal. Holy sh it those things were quick!

Opera browser
They automatically synced my google account on my phone and laptop. That sucked! Took a minute or 30 to figure out how to undo it but no problems ever since. Google made my internet experience way better, I do not use g-mail however. I've had the same email since Microsoft bought Web TV in '95 and it changed from @webtv.com to @msn.com. Same cell number since '94. I don't like change too much except the female kind.

1978 Radiator
Seems like Advance doesn't offer that radiator anymore. I can find it on their new web page, which sucks arse in my opinion, but I can't add it to "MY CART" without an ERROR message??? rockauto.com has one for $161 plus shipping. Good luck on your search, my Zs are held together with old paychecks.

Recommended car cover
40 years of off and on is a pretty good cover to me and I'm thinking Avanti's have some sharp edges. Covercraft or Beverly Hills it is. Thanks

That be a big help to me. I'm needing one and looking at the Beverly hills one's too. I want to know if they're custom or universal fit.

1978 Radiator
I bought one from advance for a little over $100 a couple of years ago, I wonder why they went up so much? Anyway go to retailmenot.com and look at advances coupon codes. You can get 30% off anything in the store. I use them weekly it seems like. When I bought mine they had free shipping to my house. Brass and aluminum 3 row, great radiator. Like Zed Head said I had to knock off a couple of mounting tabs and put a bolt in the bottom mounted plastic drain. That was a "not when but how soon" problem knocking it off. Carquest I think was the make. I'm on my phone now but in the morning I can look up the order and get a part number. I know for sure it wasn't more than $150.

Porsche got another!
I just stumbled on what you need Guy. A Porsche GTT 115. If you'd let me live on it I promise to keep it clean, no parties.
