  1. 16s on a 240 I had with stock suspension wasn't my cup of tea. For my current one I do run 15s, keeps the car low without spending a fortune on suspension parts. 15s...
  2. From MSA. Just saw they have a free shipping deal and $100 off those satin Rewinds too. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic05a02/25-1211 Tire Sizing:The maximum tire size you will be able to fit on your Z will vary significantly depending on many factors, including things like the current ride height (or amount of spring sagging) and condition and type of springs and shocks, body kit components, coil over suspensions, fender flaring, and other factors. Most stock 70-78 setups should use the most common size, a 205/55/16 for proper clearance, while an early Z with certain types of Coil Over Suspensions and Fender Flares could go to the tire manufacturer maximum size of 245/50R16. 79-85 ZX's generally have more clearance, so a larger size will often be just fine (for instance, the Motorsport 280ZX runs 225/50/16 tires). Your Z or ZX may fall somewhere between those. If your goal is to use a larger size than 205/55/16 on a 70-78, we recommend you bring your car to a qualified tire technician to check clearance on your particular setup (all good shops know how to do this). As always you can give our sales technicians a call at (800)633-6331 with your questions.
  3. Mine was broken too. It's part of the EGR system which I deleted, we don't have emission tests in Alabama. @Av8ferg might have found a new replacement from rockauto.com, I can't remember though but he'll see this and hopefully can help you. Welcome to our forum. You'll get all the help you can stand from these guys here. Post up some pictures when you can, we really like that "Z porn".
  4. My hero is gone!
  5. here's one of my favorite orange and black 240s. Hard to tell if the trim is black though???
  6. I've used old tennis shoes before, worked great, flip-flops would work good too.
  7. There's not an easy way if they're stuck. ? Make sure the E-brake is off and tap around the fins with a rubber hammer, or a sledge if it's bad. The adjuster can be accessed through the drum with a skinny screwdriver after removing that rubber plug if you have the OE drums. Some aftermarket don't have that. I think you turn it down to loosen? The thing with the teeth. That hole in the bottom of this picture, rotate the drum until you see the teeth. Good luck. Big hammer is the easiest way.
  8. I thought you had internal engine problems? I'm a month or two behind.
  9. Have those not been put on a Z yet? They look neat. Thanks for posting that pic. Never seen those before.
  10. I'm not positive but I'm going to say it WAS fun to drive. I think he bought some bad gas.
  11. Me too. Here's grannyknots M6 240Z.
  12. The trim around the windows is stainless steel, spray painting it would be a pain and seems like it would scratch off real easy. here's member @madkaw blacked out 240. He might chime in with some tips on that.
  13. google.com shows Nissan parts all over ebay. https://www.google.com/search?q=backup+light+switch+for+my+280z+5+speed&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=backup+light+switch+for+my+280z+5+speed&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  14. Grab the differential and see if you have any movement up and down at the nose, smaller end by the driveshaft. The rubber wears out on the differential support and makes a thumping noise. Yours still has the sticker so I'd think it's been replaced since 1972? Can't advise on the strap, never fooled with one of those.
  15. I've always heard "quench" but now I see there is a 'squish" also. "The quench area is the tight area between the flat portion of the piston and the flat portion of the combustion chamber in a typical wedge-style chamber. ... With a flat-top piston, this squish area can be very tight. This is also the tightest clearance between the piston and the cylinder head. http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/94138-piston-head-clearance-guide/
  16. Thanks for the compliments. ? He sales black powder coated bumpers also. I have read the fiberglass black bumpers are far from perfect but that was a few years ago when i wanted some. i actually ordered the black powder coated ones from futofab but they were on backorder for awhile. he cut me a deal on the chrome and i'm so pleased with them now I'm glad they weren't available. The shiny finish around my windows plus the wheels I bought brought it all together like a nice suit. Go down to about half page to see the black bumpers. http://www.futofab.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=131&Itemid=118#front_black
  17. You could remove the radiator drain and run a hose pipe into the top of the radiator, balance the flow and let it idle for a few minutes to see if it overheats. This is a 240 diagram but it should help.
  18. Nice! I bought my thin bumpers from futofab.com, no holes or rubber just nice straight shiny chrome. He has a Black Friday sale that's a pretty good deal if you can wait.
  19. Looks great! What's that pink thing under your toolbox? Does it say "coolant rack"? Cheapo phone isn't too good at zoom. Bama Zama
  20. My favorite to stop rust in its tracks.
  21. Bass test for Sweaty. ?
  22. I found this but don't want to register. You might give it a try. http://tyboomakbook.org/download.php?title=1972-datsun-240z-owners-manual.pdf
  23. To add to Zed Head's informative post. A cheap can of keyboard cleaning spray, $.99, is a good cooling spray. The magnetic do hickey. Good read on rebuilding one, lots of info. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributorrebuild/index.html
