picture? sounds like someone added an inline filter or are you talking about that little cone shaped fine filter that goes inside the high pressure line?

orfice? you mean expansion valve i think. if you have the datsun factory evaporator core, that expansion valve is no longer avail from the dealer. Has anyone tried nissan dealers in canada? Your options are to test your and if good reuse, get another used one or put an aftermarket evap core in that takes a generic expansion valve. those are a couple hundred bucks. In my car i put in a used one. i used the freezer method to test the first. it closed ok but when i put it in the car the pressures were off. the second one i got off ebay works great.

there is an evaporator behind the dash. i believe you have to take out the dash to remove it in the 240. I'de just leave it in. Its not worth the trouble of possibly cracking your dash to get to it. fwiw i took out the old aftermarket system in my 280 and sold the complete system on ebay for a couple hundred. i think i was very lucky getting that high price. the dash had to come out in my 280 to remove mine. why not sell the parts with the car? you're in az where a/c is mandatory. is the buyer from az?

can you imagine how full that trunk must have been? thats a big animal hide and head. i think the only way to save that car is to paint the floor and walls of the trunk and leave the windows rolled down for a year.

if you just plan on doing nothing, get a fire extinguisher because you're probably going to have to use it. sounds to me like you need to replace all the rubber hoses that connect to the injectors. ALL of them asap with special fuel injection hose rated for high pressures.

no the zerts are threaded and unscrew. sure, you can reuse zerts. no need to replace u-joint you've already installed.

photo? ide go get a smaller zert or pump it full of grease and plug it. didnt your old ujoints have plugs in them? auto part store usually sells them with a small set of zerts.

try early 80 nissan sentra locks or 720 datsun trucks. they are pretty plentiful in the junkyards. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Door-Lock-Cylinder-Tumbler-Set-2-matching-keys-/140616439959?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ASentra&vxp=mtr&hash=item20bd649897 i have also seen people remove the broken tumblers and put the lock back together. lock still works but would be easier to pick. but who needs to pick these locks when just a screwdriver inserted into the lock strips out the hole in the door sheetmetal. i know because someone broke into my 720 truck this way and stole a pair of sunglasses.

on a side note to the headliner install... i tried to reglue my old headliner in but the old foam was too rotten. i used that super yellow adhesive that you roll on. wedgewood i believe, killer smelling stuff. after a week in the hot sun it bubbled again.

maybe someone can give you some tips on fixing it.

whenever i use costco gas it was always harder to start when hot. before i added my injector fan, i tried a better grade of gas and it did help. try running chevron and see if it starts a little better. to totally eliminate the problem the xz injector fan is the ticket. im only lacking the timer to make it fully functional. so i have to manually turn the fan off and on. but the bottom line is that the zx injector fan fixed the problem of rough hot starts for me.

As for parts i use ebay for everything. you're not going to find any parts for that on the island or hawaii for that matter. i'de take the windshield wiper assembly apart and clean it all up, then lube all hinge points

got a killer deal on ebay. 200 bucks + shipping for a brand new set of door panels. the seller had no picture on ebay and it said 240z door panels. At this point you're probably saying "dumbass 200 bucks and no picture" BUT... i took a chance and it paid off. i researched the type of things this seller sold and it seemed to be all garage sale resale stuff. sometimes there are some real gems at garage sales opened the box today and to my surprise they were for the 280z. The same year as my car and they are pristine. still in the original datsun dealer plastic from a dealer in alabama.

i believe he moved to the mainland. i believe he was a welder by trade and to keep employed here you need to be jack of all trades. There is an older gentleman (60's) who works at the costco gas station that owns a orange 72. he said he's owned it since new and still uses points in the distributor. Every time i gas up he's looking over my car asking me what ive done to it. My wife is japanese and she has friends that come over from japan to visit. Her nephew works for toyota in osaka and he is a car guy. He's 24 years old and i think it was the first time he had seen a fairlady (280z) in the flesh. I let him take it for a drive and you could tell he couldn't drive a clutch. It was my attempt to get another generation interested in the cars over there. He owns a toyota celsior which is like a lexus. I made the mistake of asking him how fast it went while we were going to kansai airport. It wasn't until i got home and converted kph over to mph to find out that we were going 110 mph. Another gentleman in his 50's heard that i had 2 datsuns in the garage. For those of you who like hawaii and z cars.... Took my z to the beach today and watched the sun set into the blue pacific. Yes the a/c was on and yes it is the middle of december. Sat on the front bumper and enjoyed the moment. For those of you who know the big island the pictures were taken down by otec near the airport. The waves today were a little big and had to check that out too along with the sunset. If you're ever on the big island cruising the kohala coast and you see a black z thats me cuz i've got the only one on the island.

"Then I found the cold start valve was leaking, so I replaced that too, but then discovered the thermotime switch was also bad, and was leaving the cold start open" Wrong....... a malfunctioning thermotime switch can't cause the cold start valve to stay open. It only gets voltage when the key is turned to the 'start' position. So even if it were stuck closed once the voltage was removed the csv would not have voltage to stay on. Basically there are two modes of failure of the T-time switch. Stuck open- csv will not operate at all. Stuck closed- csv will operate everytime you turn the key to 'start' regardless of temperature. first you need to read up on each efi component and how it operates and second its very very important to have EVERY connection clean. i mean shiny contacts. from the ecu down to every injector. The problem of fouled plugs is sometimes in the coolant temp. sensor circuit, . When the electrical connection to the sensor is weak, or the sensor is bad, it tells the ECU that the engine is cold and it dumps a lot of fuel into the engine.

there are aftermarket switches that are both high and low cut out. i'de install a dryer that doesn't have a pressure switch fitting and just have the 1 switch.
