the Z guy

some guy on this site took a picture of that great looking z...i think he said it wasnt his...but he did a photoshop thing on that car with a hole bunch of colors it was pretty cool well i like the wheels and hate my stock 14's

i live in the dominca republic of california....my 76 280z blows some oil in the exhaust is it gonna pass smog? a ball park figure ? i think its blow by smoke...please help, and what is this i heard about putting methanol or alcohol about a gallon in a half tank and the car running super clean? (smog reasons clean) well let me know thanx a lot, Michael

hi, i just bought my second z its a 76 280 2+2.. my other z has a chevy in it so its not "real z" some may think...but anyway it has from what i know 32,000 miles but there is know way of telling i looked it up in the dmv recordes and its seems correct but lets assume for now 132,000.. well it smokes a little at just above idle(which by the way is just over 1000rpm. is this correct? i know how to adjust it but it seems like 700rpm is too low almost sounds like its gonna die at 700 ) what is it cause i have no clue.. is it blow by? it has a little lifter tappet click which oil could mabey coming outta that exhaust valve ? does anyone know if it will pass smog in ca? with it burning a little oil? please let me know..and what else should i look at in this recently aquired car ? and the past owner plugged up the z circulation holes (the ones behind the little second window)...how do i access these from the back? thanks a lot!!!!

besides the great l block screaming sound, i just have to put my foot in it when metalica cd's are in they are the greatest band...also another band that does it for me is fear factory... ramstein is cool but its a little too beaty for me... du haust

i need a 240 pre smog perferably already gutted but does not have to be. let me know please.... im in california... also, what does any1 know about the 240's that nissan remanafactured in the early 90's im very interested in both thank u

the ford 5.0 has a distinctive sound....this is what was in the fox body mustang...i dont know y they sound so distinctive but ...i agree w/ u the late model 4thgen. f bodys do sound like the 5.slow

IM THE YOUNGEST haha 05-06-86 im 16... my dad has owned 5 z cars. ever since he built the 75 or 76 z (i dont remember the year)with a chevy in it i have been soo intrigued by the z it is such a cool car the way it was designed .....soo great i love to learn things about them and its my life. currently i just graduated from a paint and auto body class where there was a 71 240 that we painted.it was great

:sick: :stupid: i dunno help me how much horsepower will the 240z rearend take? or the 280z? does the fact that it is automatic or manual trans make a difference? ( i mean the rearend from a manual or auto trans r they different from each other?) how hard would it be to put a ford 9 inch in a 240z? and u guys with tubbed out z's how did u do that what has to be done? and how differently does the car handle w/ fat tires in the rear? i have a project z with a built chevy block in it w/ a th350 in it... please help. (this car was inheritated i would never tear up a z like that)

i have a Question... i am inheirating a 280z 2+2 that my dad started to put a chevy in about 12 yrs ago. block and tranny r in. it was an automatic so i think that is the strong rearend (correct?)what gears should i run w/ a 350th tranny? what will need to be replaced after these yrs? has been in garage in ca. so not so much rust expected i will need help whith this so i will have more Questions as i find problems i hav not seen it yet so i dont know how much work to expect thanks!!

:tapemouth those of u guys with motorcycle experience will agree riding increases ur awareness about rpm, powerband,gear selection ect. in cars, bikes, lawnmowers...anything that is gas powered. so my point is from motorcycle experience i have learned exactly what to do. my suggestion is to(ride some bikes j/k) drive the car from a slow idle speed then put your foot in it ...feel the car take off. the car will go... then all of a sudden go faster (powerband) when u fell the car start not to acclerate as much as it was (proably around 6500) depending on gears 1. put your foot in the clutch (fast) 2. grab the shifter like it was an egg and put it in second 3.dump the clutch. now i know u proably know how to do this but mabey somebody else dos'nt
