  1. Was it on this or thoroughbred classics that had small piece about some backyard salvation of an old 240z? I think it was in Australia?? Sound familiar? The car was taken apart for parts... It did even have the name of the buyer of the car... There was some discussion here about one backyard car..Is this the same?
  2. Has anyone made the front crossmember that holds the differential to the body instead of buying it?? It has that flexible joint/attaching. It seems to be quite hard to get new ones here in Finland.... Can I change the rubber part or is it glued so that it is not possible? Is there some alternatives to the factory mounting?? Do they use more durable parts on more powerfull cars?? You guys that have rb26dett?? Do you have original Nissan part on your differential mountings???
  3. I did use very fine (1000??) wetsandpaper. It didn't scratch. Some water and that shoul do it pretty good. After that I polished it with some silver and metal polishing paste...The result was pretty good. I did remove the cover...But did not use torquewrench just ordinary tools...
  4. Even here in Finland thanks to that litle poking mishap?! Biking can be very erotic in the woods=) My bike has been standing in the yard for last five to eight years... Not my favourite hobby....
  5. I went to garage to find out more...No luck. Two of those wires are cut and sealed with tape. The switch is connected with same kind of plugs as all the electric equipment so it looks like original more than aftermarket item...There are plenty of other electrical stuff near that switch. Relays... There is also this palstic cover which has two wires under it making just a turn....I bet that those are ment to be quick switches too... Because the cover says ign and batt...So when you plug of these wires there wont be any power going thru.... Chiltons big book is not too specific... There is an emergency switch on wiring diagrams.. It is connected to ign, central lock and neutral switch...So is it in fact a emergency switch that goes off/locks if you turn ignition when car has a gear in!!? So you have to shift to neutral before you start the car? And maybe you even have to have your seatbelt on!!
  6. Is that switch situated near the battery on right hand side of the engine bay? The car is 260 or 280z? I have a -74 260z and it is as original as it gets....The car has been stirpped of all smog etc, but otherwise it is original. Ihave been thinking about this switch too...Havent yet figured out what it does... Was it so that in some states the seatbelt had the safety system which did not allow the car to start if the driver didn't have seatbelt on... My car has just the warning lamp/sign on dash.
  7. KOFF, LapinKulta, Karhu etc.

Got any better pics/close ups? Seems to be pretty simple? Could be done by self with welder, bender and grinder?
  9. Gt 40 would be nice toy... I am a bit jealous to one pal that owns a gt 40 replica here in Joensuu. It was brought from ca. It ha s a tube chassic and ford v8. It is pretty need even if it is a replica... There was a article about auctions in latest classic and sport cars. They had sold a GT40P for "only" 325,786 £!! WOW... I think that even SantaCalus can not afford one!! Heh. This must have been some rare racing model.
  10. I have have been told that 350z is going to be actually lauched in Finland in the fall 2003!! That sucks!! Well the market here is a bit smaller!! But it is sadistic that I have to wait until fall!!! Even if I am more into s30... Anyway it is going to be massive to cruise to the nissandealer to see 350z in my 260z!! I will probably be the only one to show up in s30. There are only couple of these here in Joensuu/NorthKarelia.

  13. Heh, Doggystyle. Dogs and Z's are both part of my life. This is my Alaskan Husky "Mira". Mira's mom was from NewYork can you believe!!? The genes play big part in breeding animals. Mira did the funniest/sadest thing few years back. She hunted and killed a cat....Which happenend to belong to my mother in law. Not too good first impression?? Well it was actually not the first meeting between Mira and my mother in law...
  14. I've got aluminium Lokaris as well. I bet that they have installed them when my car was shipped to Finland in 80's. These are the best way to protect your cars front end, especially those shelfs (airtunnels)that gather all the mud and crap inside front fenders. Once upon time I had this saab minicar with same engine as many lawnmovers have!! This car was made by Lokari(my dad used to be SAABIST!! We have this saying about saabs and their owners Saabism is sicknes!! Litlebit off topic sorry?!?
  15. The new 350z is quite nice but I find it a bit too dull on the front end. I think that the gtr proto was much meanier. And I would have liked more if the production model would have looked more like the first published proto...It had more lines, looks and details to remind of the roots ie. 240z s30. In general I have been delighted to see some of the nostalgia in some car manufacturers new models.... I love the Ford forty-nine and gt40. Chrysler pt-cruiser and BMW Z8, thats some package!! Well I dont like the new beetle, because it has not the same ideology that the old beetle....It is unpractical and fwd disguished polo or whatever...
  16. Luckily I dont like 300zx too much......But even though that is sicksicksick!!
  17. It is a give and take kinda thing.... In my case it goes like this I have got to put on draips and help her with some furniture restorations that she likes so much but cant allways manage to do... The downside is that my time goes to help her out... Well not all the time. The other things that are worth mentioning are house improvments that do not seem to end:) Okay offcourse my wife likes to get around in the z on summer and perhaps drive herself (She is a bit afraid to drive because she doesnt want anything to happen to "Nelly") Good luck!!

They seem to be worthless time to time here too. Some good examples can cost over 2000€ which is aprox the same in usd. About Mazda then. I have this 1200 -69 deluxe. 4-door saloon. I have a dream to build it as the r100 familia. Which was the same as r100 coupe but just like mine 4-door saloon. These cars had rotary engines a bit different grille, round tail lamps and some differencies in dash /interior. My project has some major difficulties. First: We dont have any such ratary cars here. Some never models of course but not this 69-77. Familia/Presto. second: There are only few examples in europe. Maybe I could get all parts from australia? I will be needing grille, badging, centreconsole and dashboard, tailgate with lamps and offcourse engine, tranny and such.

Yeha baby!! I was about to buy this car as my daiky driver!! I need a bigger winter car. My Z is sleeping every winter. It could have also donate some parts..I am pretty sure that all of those in Finland have 5 speed transmission. In a twisted way I do like the funny muscle lookalikeness that it has got!

Yes it is and it can be hard to find interesting cars sometimes. Allthough we do have some of the raresta ones for example mercedes-benz waxenberger 300 sel 6.3 liter. There are only on car out of three that has survived racing.... http://www.m-100.org/6point3/magazines/classicandsportscar_jan1999/waxenberger.html I dont know the number of kgt's imported. There must be few of them because those are occasionally for sale. But I think that there are even more z's for sale... Is it correct that this car was 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 liter skyline in japan nad that 2.4 liter version was skyline gt-r? Thats what I have been reading on the internet.
  21. I have just missed my chance to get company to my 260Z....There was a 240 kgt for sale here in Finland for 600€!!!! Daily driven car!!! I was too slow... If you dont know what I am talking abou look here> http://skyline-gtx.hp.infoseek.co.jp/cm.htm Well I guess I have to settle to buying a 260c -73 for 500€ (series 230) But it is not nearly the same..

I don know if there are any of these Cobra replicas here in Finland. I doubt because there are only so few Z's here. But when it comes to taunus Cobra's it is a bit different scenario!! We have one firm that actually produces those replicas out of old Ford Taunus. There are 2,3 litre v6 and some versions are available with turbo. They do also make v8 replicas....That is a big question mark to me because it is veryvery hard to get a car with so big modifications registerd here. And if you want to make all the way with new chassis and engine and so on you have to pay new cars taxes! That is if you dont register the car as Taunus. According to our laws this kind of kitcar must have atlesa 50% of parts out of a registered donator car... You can find the firm here www.sporttiauto.com

The old bionic woman has been running on one channel here in finland. Atleast in one episode the lady drove a 260 or a 280 z with big bumpers....
  24. I had my bonnet stuck with my former z too. Those old worn cables. Fortunately I had disassembled the lock mechanism once so I knew what i had to do. I made a tool which helped me to reach the lock arm that the end of the cable is attached to. It doesn't really help if you can reach the cable because it is screwed into the cars body. I will attach a picture of my tool. I used to open my bonnet with this tool for a while. (naturally I forgot some times that the cable was stuck and closed the bonnet too hard!!) Normally i drove around with my bonnet open... The red line in the picture is the tool. I used 8mm steel axel to make my "bonnet opener". It was pretty soft steel because I was able to bend it by hands. It is actually easy to use this opener when you find the right place to poke the tool. The tip of the tool should be placed behind the lock arm.
