Have a safe drive all the way out here! Watch out for bad weather along the way. You may check your combo switch for oxidation on the contacts, or also check your dimmer....rotate it a bunch and your lights may just pop back on. I have a local friend who has the transmission pop out of 5th too, but other than that it works fine and has for years....so you should be ok on your trip with it. Theres a great local community for Z's out here. Greg
  2. I had a ride in a red '63 250 Lusso when I was 5....you don't forget going 90 around a turnpike in 2nd gear with that Columbo V12 screaming! The owner also had a ble '63 250LM. Unfortunately he sold them both in the late 80's when prices were sky high and bought a '35 Alfa with a rumble seat. I'd rather have the Ferraris myself, but the Alfa is still pretty cool. Good luck on your Ferrari purchase! Greg

I'll get you some pics tomorrow. PM me your email address and I can email them, or post small pics here. Email would be better to see detail though. Greg

I've got a set of Swastikas that I'd sell for $100 + shipping. Two of the rims are a bit bent, but can be straightened. If you're interested, pm me. I can send pics too. Greg
  5. That is how the bulk sellers on ebay make their money....shipping charges. It was easier before the gas costs went up and the shippers raised their prices to ship. I bought some things from Reddat in the past and had good results, except for the high shipping charges. I don't buy from him anymore though, not because I think he is dishonest or anything....just because I've found better sources. Greg

With most of those sellers you can supply them with a picture and they can print it on the clock for you. I wanted a clock with a green Z on it and the seller already was able to do that one, but I could have supplied him with any picture and he could do that too. If I cropped it myself it was cheaper of course. I was planning on doing this for my dad with a picture of his airplane on a clock at some point. Greg
  7. Thanks for the correction..... Greg
  8. I thought Tim Z was running an RB25DET rather than an L28ET? Greg
  9. Yah I agree it was a great show this year! Dave thanks a bunch for spending the time. I'll let you know when I get the delay unit all figured out and hooked up and working. If you like it and want to use it, I can make one up for you too easily enough.....let me know. I was 3 minutes late this year, so I delayed Gary's group a couple minutes, but I suppose we can shoot for 15 minutes earlier next year....sound like a plan Gary? Arne, I was just about to jack my car up and get a picture and some info for you on that clutch slave cylinder, so you can expect to hear more about that from me soon. I hope you're able to find a good fuel door lock soon and for not too much scratch. Whoever took it has no shame..... It was nice to see everyone again....Hugh, Gary, Roger and Tara, Dave and Leah, Reuel, Rich, etc. Greg
  10. Hey Mike, Go ahead on the roof if you can get it. We had the Canby Datsun show here this last weekend and I met someone who has a great roof and its local to me and the price is right, so I'm going to get it from him instead. Greg
  11. Thanks Dave! I'll find ya when I get there. Was a nice show today....but I think there will be a lot more cars there tomorrow. Should be fun! Greg
  12. Hi Leonard, Damn on the hatch! I have a good knob on the choke in my car, but my cables are broken, so your setup might work for me. Pics would be great. I might be interested in the roof also if the other guy doesn't go for it, but depends on if its rust-free or not, and I'd have to figure out how to get it from there to here for not too much $$. I've got a sunroof to get rid of also and I do have a donor roof that has some rust, but I'm hoping to see the body shop guy who would be doing the work tomorrow at the Canby show and I can ask him about mine then. Greg
  13. How is the tailgate hatch? Mine is too rusty and the defrost is broken, so I'm looking for a better one that has good glass and defrost. Idaho isn't too far away if the price was right for the hatch. (I'm in Oregon) Also, how about the choke cable? Mine is broken. Thanks, Greg
  14. When I put my turbo engine in I'm going to adapt up a cable setup. I think it will work better..... Greg
  15. Thanks for the heads up Gary! I'll be there around 8:45. I'm going to the show Saturday and Sunday....I've got some books and parts to sell, and parts to find, and going the extra day will allow me to get a better look at some cars and talk to people. Yah be careful Dave! I hate that area up there, especially on the weekends. Too many speed traps and idiot cops. Cruise control comes in handy as long as you set the speed around the speed limit. See you at the show! Greg
  16. My car is ready to go to the show but is in the middle of several things so it will look shitty, but oh well. Lack of money and time means a shitty looking car. So Sunday is the show...what is on Saturday then? greg
  17. The Volvo system was the Bosch D-jet system. They're good, if in proper working order, but they can't take big power increases. Guys who do that with the Volvo and want to run FI go with a Megasquirt setup for the most part and it works fine. Greg
  18. Hey Arne, I've heard that the rubber that Black Dragon sells is not the Precision one and is inferior to the Precision or original rubber. I don't know if its true or not from first hand experience, but I wanted to throw that out there. Greg
  19. The posting has already expired, but thanks for quoting the price so I know what he was asking for it. Greg
  20. I'll be there, and I plan on following everyone in from the rest stop like I did last year. Not sure which day yet....depends on when everyone else is going I guess. Greg

I used a Grant adaptor plus a custom adaptor I had made up to adapt a Mountney steering wheel into my Z. The Grant adaptor due to it's construction sticks out about 1/2" further than the stock wheel as far as the horn contact patch is concerned, so you have to bend the tab for the horn out. I tried to use a spacer and a longer screw but my horn was going off when I turned to the right. So just bending it out worked for me, although I bent it out and then bent the contacting portion of it at a right angle to contact the contact patch correctly. Once I bent it the right way my horn works just fine now. Maybe you need to adjust how you bent it again? The Grant hub leaves a bit to be desired due to it's spacing but it can be made to work. Greg

I thought some of you may find this funny...... When you occasionally have a really bad day, and you just need to take it out on someone, don't take it out on someone you know, take it out on someone you don't know. Its much more fun..... I was sitting at my desk when I remembered a phone call I'd forgotten to make. I found the number and dialed it. A man answered, saying "Hello." I politely said, "This is Brian. Could I please speak with Robyn Carter?" Suddenly a manic voice yelled out in my ear "Get the right f***ing number!" and the phone was slammed down on me. I couldn't believe that anyone could be so rude. When I tracked down Robyn's correct number to call her, I found that I had accidentally transposed the last two digits. After hanging up with her, I decided to call the 'wrong' number again. When the same guy answered the phone, I yelled "You're an asshole !" and hung up. I wrote his number down with the word 'asshole' next to it, and put it in my desk drawer. Every couple of weeks, when I was paying bills or had a really bad day, I'd call him up and yell, "You're an asshole !" It always cheered me up. When Caller ID was introduced, I thought my therapeutic asshole calling would have to stop. So, I called his number and said, "Hi, this is John Smith from the telephone company. I'm calling to see if you're familiar with our Caller ID Program?" He yelled "NO!" and slammed down the phone. I quickly called him back and said, "That's because you're an asshole!" and hung up. One day I was at the store, getting ready to pull into a parking spot. Some guy in a black BMW cut me off and pulled into the spot I had patiently waited for. I hit the horn and yelled that I'd been waiting for that spot, but the idiot ignored me. I noticed a "For Sale " sign in his back window, so I wrote down his number. A couple of days later, right after calling the first asshole (I had his number on speed dial), I thought that I'd better call the BMW asshole, too. I said, "Is this the man with the black BMW for sale?" He said, "Yes, it is." I asked, "Can you tell me where I can see it?" He said, "Yes, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd, in Fairfax. It's a yellow rambler, and the car's parked right out in front." I asked, "What's your name?" He said, "My name is Don Hansen." I asked, "When's a good time to catch you, Don?" He said, "I'm home every evening after five." I said, "Listen, Don, can I tell you something?" He said, "Yes?" I said, "Don, you're an asshole !" Then I hung up, and added his number to my speed dial, too. Now, when I had a problem, I had two assholes to call. Then I came up with an idea. I called Asshole #1. He said, "Hello." I said, "You're an asshole!" (But I didn't hang up.) He asked, "Are you still there?" I said, "Yeah." He screamed, "Stop calling me!" I said, "Make me." He asked, "Who are you?" I said, "My name is Don Hansen." He said, "Yeah, where do you live?" I said, "Asshole, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd, in Fairfax, a yellow rambler, I have a black Beamer parked in front." He said, "I'm coming over right now, Don, and you had better start saying your prayers." I said, "Yeah, like I'm really scared, asshole," and hung up. Then I called Asshole No. 2. He said, "Hello?" I said, "Hello, asshole .." He yelled, "If I ever find out who you are..." I said, "You'll what?" He exclaimed, "I'll kick your arse," I answered, "Well, asshole, here's your chance. I'm coming over right now." Then I hung up, waited 20 minutes, called the police, saying that I lived at 34 Oaktree Blvd, in Fairfax, and that I was on my way over there to kill my gay lover. Then I called Channel 9 News about the gang war going down in Oaktree Blvd. in Fairfax. I quickly got into my car and headed over to Fairfax I got there just in time to watch two assholes beating the crap out of each other as six cop cars pulled up, with an overhead news helicopter and surrounded by a news crew. NOW I feel much better. This kind of Anger Management works!
  23. I drive a 1985 Audi 4000 Quattro with 312,000 miles on it.....just had to replace the original clutch at 307k. The 4KQ was the best car Audi ever made....but sadly parts are getting hard to find.....I've had it 10 years so I've gotten good use out of it, but want to get something newer later this year if I can afford it. Eventually I'll get my 1969 Volvo 1800S restored and drive that too, (not mine in the pic tho mine is that color and looks just like that with 39 year old faded paint) of course when I do, then the 240Z will go under the knife to get restored. Meanwhile though I do drive the Z at least twice a week. Greg

You can always get a brand new Valeo clutch kit off ebay that comes with the 240mm flywheel. Lots of the newer Nissans up into the mid 90's use the 240mm flywheel btw. Greg
  25. 330k miles is a lot, but there are lots of brands that will do that. My Audi 4000 Quattro has 311k on it's original engine and has never had the head off...still going strong. I even got 309k on the original clutch! Mercedes Benz has a diesel over a million miles, and Irv Gordon of New York has a 1966 Volvo 1800S with 2.5 million miles on it. I met him and saw the car in person in 1999 and he said he overhauled the engine at 693,000 and hasn't since. I don't know if I believe it or not, though his car has been documented as the Guiness Book record holder for most miles on a passenger car. I don't want to rain on the Datsun's parade though, so I'll say that I think the Z is more fun to drive. Greg
