Been swapping the carbs today! Everything is gone well but does anyone know an easy way to get the old gaskets off the Phenolic spacers? Can I just soak them off?

I'll second the 'Just SU's' DVD. Great stuff, in fact I'm going to start swapping my old carbs for my new Ztherapy set tomorrow!

Remember, the guy says he was into Corvairs (awesome cars btw, my dad had a '65 corsa Turbo). He was just wondering about Z-specific terminology.

FYI, Popular Science has just put it's entire 137 year archive online in searchable format thanks to Google Books! This means literally hundreds of period car ads from the last century are available for discovery. PopSci Archives I just did a quick search for 'Datsun' and turned up these:

The initial 240 entries seem to be correct. This would likely be a much better basis for a new sheet.

After 2.5 weeks of waiting, my new carbs have arrived! I decided recently that I needed to kick start things with the Z and do something to get me excited about working on the Z again (although the sun coming out really helps lately), so I called up Ztherapy and ordered a new set of carbs and a new balance tube. Next week is dead week and finals the week after that, so it's likely that I won't be swapping anything till spring break. Until then I'll just have to enjoy looking at these beauties.

I've always been impressed with Polk Audio, so that's what I put in my Z. Worked @ a car stereo place at the time so got 'em at cost which didn't hurt. They're not the most expensive, but not cheap either. No complaints so far.

Not to nitpick, but the flat tops are still SU's. Hope they work out this summer!

No, they just patched the rear vents. If you look closely you can see the vertical defrost lines. That was only on some early Series 1 hatches (after the defrost-less hatches).

Ugly? I'll disagree on that one Arne. There are far too few coupe's with no B pillar. I love the look of that thing with all the windows rolled down.
