No clutch peddle pressure
Wouldn't be at all surprised if the seals aren't sealing anymore just from sitting..... Try bleeding and see if anything comes out of the slave. If it does and the fluid is dirty do a complete replace with new. About once a year brake and clutch hydraulics should be drained and replenished with new uncontaminated fluid. Anyone on here actually do that?

Rare and Old Datsun for sale in Oklahome
That is right off the looms of the British design school, everything NISSAN did prior to the roadsters, 510s and Zs were all over the Brit style books. Somebody at NISSAN Design had a love affair going on with the folks at Austin. This one is so far back around on the ugly scale it's coming back around to cute again......

Where are all those moulds at?
I think it's safe to assume NISSAN's primary business is the manufacture and sale of new vehicles and our keeping this old tin alive is probably a nagging side issue for them. FYI there is a move underway to get body panels for the 510 constructed in Taiwan here in the near term. Don't know any more than that at the moment. Whoever you all are and whatever your problems...... new carbs are the answer...... nyuck nyuck Off for a weekend of car stuff

BEHOLD! The NEW Datsun.
Definitely needs a smaller wheel and tire combination. Does that look dorkie or what?

Front carb running rich
Just a question here guys...... Why if carbs have been running adequately and all of a sudden start doing something odd like one carb running fat, do you all suggest that some one or some thing has gotten in there and changed the float level? In this case smart money is on a stuck choke. Reach under there and bump the nozzle and see if it doesn't snap back up into place. If it does, time for at least a good cleaning....

Where to buy...
Arne's right. Don't over think it. Just adjust the two so they flow the same whether you are reading a number, watching a bead rise in the tube or listen to the hiss....... Some of this stuff requires some discussion..... this topic, not so much.

new keys
See, you were told this was a neat place to get help...... Good job
-
Where to buy...
We also sell them. Not getting rich off of them but do have them available...... There are probably ten Uni-Syns sitting in the bottom of tool boxes within five miles of where you are sitting owned by old guys who have owned old British stuff. Just a matter of finding that old guy..... nyuck nyuck

lots to do on this 240Z
Seen worse.

new to the Z
Fixing the box will be the primary consideration before going any further. Gotta have a sound box to bolt stuff to. Once the box is sound you are good to go.. 'til then not so much.... I'd love to say you need carbs but that'll be another project for another time...... Hopefully some of your local owners can point you in the right direction for the heavy lifting rust repair wise.

new to the Z
Pennsylvania car? Rust issues need to be evaluated first before making any kind of investment time or money wise. If you are from there and have done cars from there then you know where the rust gremlins live in the average body. Front fenders. floor pans, dog legs, rockers are all natural culprits..... Good times doing this your son. The Z doesn't get any more straight forward than that.

SU Floats
Really doesn't matter what floats are listed for price wise. If someone goes to the trouble of making them, then charging what it takes to stay on the black side of the line is in line. NISSAN has recently gone nuts with prices on fuel nozzles for example.....

How cool is that!!
First contact I've had with them. I think it just exemplifies a desire on their part to do the most good for the sport w/o the need for the almighty dollar playing a role.

How cool is that!!
So I'm out running errands this morning when the ZTherapy phone in my pocket starts ringing. It's a nice gentleman from the Campbell California NISSAN dealership saying he's cleaning out a whole bunch of clutter and among that clutter is at least one box of SU carb parts and would we like to have them. No charge he'd just box it up and send it. In the age of diminishing availability of this stuff, this was like a breath of fresh air. Any of you CA South Bayers, so disposed, poke your head into the parts department and give 'em a big atta boy. Any of you out there who feel you missed our deadline for the core return shoot me an email. We can use them. Just trying to keep the wheels on these old pots turning........

Horn keeps blowing fuse
Better get it fixed, 'cause living in Canada without working horns is sheer suicide...... Just a little hands across the border humor.

SU Floats
Something semi critical to the process is the way those floats are cast they end up with a hard shell around the outside with foam inside.
-
SU Floats
The polymer is called Nitrophyl...... Good luck and if captured behind enemy lines this agency will blah blah blah........
-
SU Floats
We see all kinds during tear down but primarily it's physical damage from errant tools splitting and gouging the foam. I'm also hearing that floats are being degraded by today's gas i.e. soaking it up and getting squishy. No one has sent their squishys in for us to look at so can't testify to that but we are still waiting to see some real cases of "come over here Vern, and look at this".......
-
SU Floats
One of you guys need to jump on this...... Small two or three stage die set for the metal piece and mold or molds for casting the floats them selves. Anyone? ANYONE? We alone would probably buy a dozen or so a year..... We did identify the resin used for the injection molding process if that helps......
-
SU Floats
These are the free floating floats for the 38mm carbs (2 bolt mount to the manifold)...... Those brass floats have a nasty habit of developing tiny hair line cracks, taking on gas and sinking like a rock..... Still nothing available for Z car floats as far as we know.....

AutoZone and crap from China
In the words of the ZTherapy sales guy...... "It's like buying oats.... you CAN buy them after they've been through the horse and they ARE cheaper"......

Dale Mfg.
We will try and find out more as they/he is right here in the village. Pretty trick deal though as his website says he works only two out of every three months..... Oh, and the other part of the web site talks about volin building...... HMmmmmm

large z salvage yard
Just called the number in Idaho. That's what's left of Idaho Z. Kim is getting out of the day to day and has a guy selling parts from the phone number. This guy is not a mechanic so don't ask how to fix stuff.......

Breaker plate no longer available?
Philbin is one of those unsung resources for the sport that everyone should have on file. They do a super job on distributors and I still don't understand how they can do all that thay do for the price they charge.
