Anyone remember the Z Car Club of America? I have a bunch of their newsletters that I have meant to scan, just can't seem to get round to it.

The 73 dash funcationality is better because the heater controls are lighted.

Okay, so we know that Kats always has access to everything. A white light would not make sense for the doors because when they are open, they would look like front lights. They should be red lights to warn traffic of an open door. I've seen this in some Toyotas I've owned. Anyway, they need to be internal to light the floor like courtesy lights.

Apparently there were a couple of kinds of lights, but the only people who spoke up about having found preexisting wiring were those with 73 models. I wouldn't expect a 71 to be wired the same.

Since when has Nissan been making 240Z door panels again?

So they added a date on the later years, eh?

Kats, I looked at the dealership floorplans, and remember the Pence-Briggs Datsun in Richmond, VA looked like these plans when I was 10 years old. My father bought a 510 there in 1971. They have since moved, but the dealer looked the images.

My passenger door is like that. What 240znz said is probably the best option.
  9. I used Nissan front fenders.
  10. I purchase this and the marker light harness a couple years ago. I notice increased brightness right away. The most impressive thing about the harness was the workmanship. It is professional all the way, no company could make it any better, especially for the price. I know the history of this harness. Dave was taking a hit on labor and sometimes parts in the beginning when the price was lower. Unfortunately I waited too long to get that price. Anyway, you guys will be getting a top quality part by every standard.
  11. No matter what, it had to be a rush to find it. I can imagine the rush of finding an old Z under a cover somewhere or in some old garage just sitting there. It had to be a cool experience.
  12. To all those recommending a cheater bar or pipe, think about the fact that most people don't have a car lift in their garage. Even if you could jack the car up a foot off the ground a cheater bar would be almost useless. As a last resort for those with oil drained, either the reverse switch plug or take the tranny off so you can get to the plug. Just a thought.
  13. It's killer, one of you should get it. Then take it over to HybridZ and drop a 350 into it.

I know the front bumper, hood and side view mirror are all wrong for a 71; among other things.
  15. Carl, want to place a pic in Wikipedia? Send it to me and I'll upload it. I'm a Wiki editor. However the pic must have no copyright issues. Let me know.

Carl, the 432 (Datsun) spoiler that Les sells, is fully enclosed on the bottom with fiberglass, and the studs for securing it to the hatch are mounted in this bottom piece. I would imagine that a small o-ring or thin rubber washer would be a wise addition to seal it from water. I believe some spoilers sold during those days even came with some sort of seal for the front edge of the spoiler so water would not run underneath, but which ones I don't know. I have the 432 rear spoiler from Les, as well as the BRE front spoiler (made from BRE molds). However, I understand that BRE front racing spoilers were different from the ones they sold.

I would probably go along with you on most everything original except AC. The Z is a hot SOB in the summer, even with all the ventilation going.
  19. Funny, I use Prothane bushings and did have to use torches or anything. Did I miss something?

Good to see you around Carl, thought we'd lost you. Haven't seen you much in months.
  21. I thought you weren't quitting.

Have you tried asking folks in Florida? Ask Carl Beck.
  23. Try at least $20K.
  24. Mine does, but it's the 432 spoiler from Les.

Yeah, but this was done through a dealership, right? I mean the manufacturer knew about it, right?
