rocker switch needed
I really like to keep the stock lights and stuff. I was taking some measurements for the defogger switch in the large location as I have a spare center console in storage. it will clip in a little different as far as the support [snap in]. I was looking at round rocker switches this morning and thought installing 2 in the blank location. 1 for the fog lights and 1 for the electric fan override switch. that blank plastic filler cover has raised edges to look like the switch. I also was looking at a 2 gang rocker switches that are panel mounted. but so far I can not seem to find the size that is needed. I measured the opening in the spare console and it is 1-7/8" long buy 1-7/16" wide. I am going to find something I just need to spend the extra time on the internet. I will post what I have come up with also .

280z Steering Wheel Vibration
I had the same problem like you, and I did change ever thing from rack, to struts, to bushings, tie rods, and even springs. it turn out my drivers side floor board was week with some rot starting and since I replace the floor pan the car is perfect now!!!

rocker switch needed
thanks for the answer, it will be controlling a relay so there will be no load on the switch. I was also thinking the switch will fit the length and I will just have to cut the width on the blank plastic plate. it will be about as original as I can get.

rocker switch needed
I found a 1974 260z rear defogger switch for sale but I am not sure and even the seller was not helpful if it will work for the fog lights. I do not know if it is just a switch or if it has maybe a built in resistor?

rocker switch needed
does anybody know where to pick up a rocker switch for the console? I am looking to install the fog lights and would like to install the rocker switch in the spare location next to the hazard switch to control the fog lights. I am not sure if a regular rocker switch will fit?thanks

cooling help?
I have owned this 260 since 1979. I restored it in the early to mid 90s and bought parts for the last 30 years . but for the life of me I can not remember where I picked up this cover , but it sure looks handy for this application . like I said I believed it was tap for 1/4" bspt and I retaped it for 1/4" npt.

cooling help?
just for an update, I did install the new sensor switch which is 200 on and 185 off in the thermostat cover. with a digital probe in the top of the radiator the fan turns on now at 209 degrees but does not turn the fan off with temperature down to 174 degrees, that was tested in my garage. now driving around town and highway the fan never kicks on at all and my temperature gauge is at the start of the m in the temp word. I did order 2 sensor switches at the time to compare them both and both have the same results. the outside air was dry and around mid 60s. I would like to have been closer to the 200 degree on, and even 180 off would have been nice. I guess when it does get warmer here like 90s I will see what happens. I may have to go to a adjustable controller. but I really like just having just 1 relay, 1 sensor switch, and a bypass turn on switch in the cabin . all of the fan adjustable temperature controllers that I have seen are not waterproof and need to be installed in the cabin. the car never see the rain unless I get caught in it.

Valve cover gasket seal 77 280z
I was not saying anything about the power coated cover! I meant that I wanted nice looking bolts and found allen head [stainless steel] nice looking bolts to go with the cover. but they were about 1/8" shorter and I did not want the torque any higher than 84" pounds. I have no problem with leaks, so when it is time to adjust the valves I will change the gasket. I am sure the nissan gaskets are nice but do you think nissan really makes there own?

Valve cover gasket seal 77 280z
aftermarket gasket I believe it was a felpro . I have a power coated valve cover with stainless steel bolts. they were about a 1/8" shorter then the factory bolts, that is why I stopped at 84" pounds on the torque. I did use black rtv gasket sealer and I only applied a very thin layer on the head and set the gasket on it with the bolts holding it in place until it got tacky. then I applied a very thin layer of the rtv on the cover and put it together . I did let it set over night before I started the motor.

Valve cover gasket seal 77 280z
mine leaked and had to use rtv, the bolts would not stay tight at 84 inch pounds. I did not want to snap a bolt so if I need to go into the valve train I will replace the gasket.

the sensor is in the top thermostat cover, the cover is rare. I am not sure what motor it came off of maybe the 280 zx turbo automatic car but there is a port in the top thermostat cover that was 1/4" bspt and I retaped it to except 1/4" npt threads .

cooling help?
I have a cooling question I installed a champion 3 row aluminum radiator with a spal 13" electric fan and a nissan brand 180 degree thermostat. now my fan sensor is a american volt brand that is 200 degree on and 185 off that is installed in the thermostat housing cover. at highway driving my fan runs all the time. around town it will cycle on and off. I do not think this is normal for highway driving at 70 degrees outside. anybody have a thought ? in the old days the water pump would leak when bad the seal. not leaks at all and I run water wetter with premix prestone antifreeze. thanks
