  1. Carbs are due back from Ztherapy next week. I rigged up a temporary fuel supply as I dont want to install the tank until after the exterior bodywork and paint. This a temp tank for testing motorcycles I found online. I learned that water will in fact run out of the manifolds if you fill it up with water without the carbs in place 🙂 . Good thing I filled with distilled water for the initial start and testing. For now, I am going to keep the manifold water lines. I debated blocking them off or adding a bypass hardline, but I am going to go with stock and see how it works out. Old muffler/exhaust cleaned up and installed. Fit is very good. I fully expect the muffler to be toast, but I am not going to order one until I am certain. The header and pipes are very solid. Little by little it goes back together. Once I get it running, it is headed to a frame machine to double check it. I was having some issues with the front right fender/hood alignment and decided it may have had more contact than previously thought. Happy Easter!!
  2. This would be my pick for a popular image but that girl leaning on the green 240 is at the top. Grayme Suckling cross flow radiator is 2nd on my screen.
  3. 2 points
Thank you! I plan to do some work on it this weekend, including some current photos.
  4. If that's your faceplate in post #1, I would try a chrome or aluminum oil Sharpie on the lines. I had great results from this thanks to the tip from @psdenno I found mine and it's silver not aluminum.
  5. Don't take your car apart until you have too! Restore smaller sections and sub-assemblies as you go. Then repaint and reassemble. In the meantime you have a running car you can enjoy instead of a shop project
  6. Just realized that I've been looking at the same "popular image" for many many long time.
  7. Make sure you have rebuild kits on hand. You need to replace gaskets and crush washers. Attach the lid to the float bowl before you try to remove the bolt holding the banjo fitting in place. Here's the filter: https://zcardepot.com/products/copy-of-fuel-filter-carburetor-oem-240z-260z-70-74?_pos=17&_sid=da1c07df2&_ss=r
  8. Yep, it's not good when those are nasty. Don't forget about the last chance filters on the banjo fittings.
  9. Putting the image on the front page where people will click it kind of creates a cycle. I guess that explains it. Once it's on top it stays on top. Just wondering what the purpose was. Random images would be more interesting. Something new every day.
  10. Music and boobies will never get old. Good to hear from you Mr Betty!
  11. You can use a spot weld drill bit. I have found a round headed metal rasp in a die grinder works better. It's harder on the removed panel though. Make the metal thin and then wiggle it until it breaks loose. Then a die grinder with a 2" rolok to dress down the spot welds.
  12. Good questions. I see the label has "deux temps". I think that is French. A Google search seems to indicate the french use lb-po^2. It is equivalent to psi. My compressor pump is an "inline 2", with the cylinders side by side. One is smaller than the other. The larger one is the low pressure part of the pump, and the smaller one is the high pressure part. Looking at the paperwork I have for it, I see I bought it on 11/01/1997 for $709.77. 🙂 I bought my glass bead cabinet at the same time - just after I bought my first garage (with a house attached hahaha). It was my first expensive tool purchase. I was 28... It will be a sad day when/if this compressor wears out. But we are both getting old!
  13. This has been discussed many times.. rule is that you just look if the camshaft is well oiled at idle.. then your okay! keep the idle at 650 rpm and your fine.
  14. For many many long time?? Tell me, what where you drinking? 🤣 And what does that type of radiator do in a Z? never seen one. And what was your question to whom?
  15. Pictures of my compressor: 55 I was able to adjust the new switch to kick in around 120 and turn of at about 155, just as before.
  16. I cant believe this thread is still alive!
  17. If you could advertise it in Germany, and it's a orig ragtop.. (and the right paperwork) , i think you would get a very nice price for it!!
  18. Dave Grohl really gets with it on the drums, played them harder than anyone I’ve ever seen.
